The Proton Center is doing amazing things for patients and I am grateful for being a part of it however the current management has completely crushed the company morale.  The Center has lost so many amazing employees( nurses, receptionist, radiation therapist, intake staff, MRI techs, and the list goes on).  An entire intake department has left at once.  Instead of appreciating their hard working and great employees that keep that place going they sit around and come up with ridiculous and irrational policies to enforce.  Searching for ways to penalize and belittle their employees. The director and managers run around essentially bullying staff daily on every tiny little thing.  The director likes to walk around yelling "if you don't like then leave!" They are leaving indeed.  Not only do they not care about you as an employee they do not even care about you as a person and absolutely do not care about your family.  Many things contribute to negative company morale including us as employees however, here at the Proton Center the management has created a negative environment and display poor leadership.  They have taken good staff and destroyed it, causing the best of employees to flee and the remainder to loose motivation.  Until there is a change in management the center will continue to be a revolving door for good employees as it has been my whole time here.

So US/TX Oncology has a culture based on 5 pillars of focused care.   Patient-centered, Integrity, accountability, collaboration and respect, and adaptability. While these are great pillars to focus on, the management utilizes none of these when interacting with employees. Yet us as employees are required to abide by these pillars and treat our patients and fellow co-workers as such. In this company you are just a number. They have no moral reasoning for you, for your family, for anything that falls outside of the black and white policy. The management is dwindling it's good employees down to nothing. With the correct makeover this place could be great. The doctors are great, the receptionist are great, the therapist are great, and all other Personnel in the building that help this place function are absolutely great. By far the best patients around as well . Management constantly shoving irrational policy down our throats has everybody job hunting. This place really needs a new facility director and Clinical Director to make it a great place to work.

I relocated for a job with the US Oncology network. What was sold to me during the interview did not turn out to be what was actually expected of me, they did a bait and switch.
My department had a problem with clashing personalities, competitive dynamics, and a tendency to "haze" the new hires. Instead of being welcoming, they have high expectations from Day 1. I am an experienced professional with many great ideas to contribute to the clinic, but my opinion and experience did not matter. I was explicitly told to stop voicing concerns I had with training, coworkers, workflow, or processes. 
While this seems like a great place to work on face value, there is a dark side. I wanted to stay at this job for several years, but I did not sign up to be talked down to and treated like a problem. It is unfortunate that my situation is not unique, it has happened to many other employees. I don't believe things will improve until those in management are made to see and improve their faults.

Very unprofessional. Professionalism may very well be dead and gone in today’s work places and RMCC is no exception. Management was very dependent on their employees where bigger problems needed management involvement were handed off to their employees, work load is horrendous with 100+ patients a day for only three people, An employee got hurt and they hassled them the whole time about coverage, paintings with confirmed corona virus are still allowed in and yet are quick to jump on their employees case if they forget to wear even their goggles; patients exhibiting symptoms also allowed, PTO is non existent because of the lack of people, so you may very well be waiting a year before you can take off if the others beat you to it. There’s no management support of issues involving lab, patients, doctors, etc, they just blame the lab for everything. VERY stressful environment, people smile in your face but report you or complain about you until you eventually get fired.

My position was a travelling position.  It's primary function was to cover Pharmacy Admixture Technicians at all of the U S Oncology sites that they may be able to take time off and their site would be adequately staffed.  Additionally, I worked at our outpatient pharmacy dispensing center in Niles, IL and began to learn about Financial Counseling, 

This position provided me with an opportunity to see patients, assess insurance levels of patient and become familiar with insurance issues, medical billing and medical coding.

This organization paid within the national average range for an organization of its size but it provided ample opportunity to learn things that were beneficial to becoming more astute in my understanding of the oncology insurance process.

Long hours and terrible schedule due to always being short staffed and very busy. They force you to run on a skeleton crew, which is definitely not good for an organization providing patient care. Good luck finding 2 minutes in between patients to quickly shove your lunch down your throat. Regional directors/VPs are rarely present, talk down to and are highly disrespectful to managers/employees, and seem to care about nothing but making themselves look good at the expense of their employees. Our outdated and broken equipment was typically only replaced when absolutely necessary and only with the least expensive or refurbished equipment when possible. Nothing like treating patients using 10+ year old technology! Turnover was unreal because everyone in our department was always searching for a new job. Doesn't bother upper management though, because they just see this as another opportunity to do more with less by simply not replacing those who quit!

Company is very very very mismanaged, and managers can be bully and very toxic. Most of the managers are just former billers or front supervisors  who has been there for years and somebody has decided they will make great team leader. Bad decision. Education is not prerequisite, therefore structure is very unorganized short sighted with a lack of knowledge how to used human resources and talents. Some people will be chilling at work while others work double. 
Don't get to charmed on the interview. In a few weeks most of it will disappear, you will be asked to do extra here and extra there. Before you know it will be your job duties. High turnaround of employees. 
Company offers good PTO. 3 weeks and paid holidays, however 3 weeks include personal days and sick days so I guess most people will end up only with two weeks.  Insurance kind of expensive around 85 per month plus you will be paying 20% of the bills approximately 2000 per year. 
Great to start, but don't get to comfortable, well you won't...

Working as the nursing supervisor in the chemo infusion room was a very rewarding job.  Patients are coming in scared, not sure what their day was going to entail, not sure what the next step would be, It was my job and all the other nurses to help answer all their questions, give them the emotional support they need, ease their fears, provide them with exceptional resources.  We taught them to keep their sense of humor and they all had one.  Amazing group of patients and caregivers, they too needed our full support.  We would try to make them feel as if this was a "speed bump" or " detour" in their life.
The hardest part of our day was when a patient ran out of treatment options-The greatest part is when a patient has completed chemo and is in remission.  
US Oncology allowed staff to get all the information necessary to care for our patients, from educational material to support systems.

The company will be nice to you in the beginning. But once you understand their environment, they will eat you alive. You will be micro-managed like a dog!! They don't give you A BATHROOM break. IF YOU TAKE TOO LONG, THE MANAGERS WILL FOLLOW YOU!  The company has a reputation of blaming you for everything.  They ONLY give you 30-minute lunch break (just because the US law says 30 minutes) but they expect you to work during that lunch break, so technically no lunch break!! Then they kick out the employees at 5 pm, because they say "we believe in work life balance." NOPE, not really if you can't go to the bathroom in peace, how is that "work life balance?"  

Staff is OVERWORKED WITH LOW PAY and no raises. For employee appreciation week, it's a JOKE!  There's no appreciation if you don't care for your employees or treat them with respect. THE COMPANY DOESN'T BELIEVE IN MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. On a daily basis, if you make a mistake some managers will count everything against you!! 

I worked with some truly amazing people at my practice. Everyone focuses on what is best for the patient, and their clinical trials division was phenomenal. I really liked my manager but unfortunately she wasn’t an effective leader because she let one of her subordinates call all the shots. My manager had no idea what my day to day activities were, even after I would review them with her on multiple occasions. I never felt I had the support I needed to be successful in my role and I left because I didn’t feel valued by my team. I went to senior management and expressed my concerns, but nothing was done, so I moved on.  For the most part, every single person at my practice was fantastic to work with, but the HR department was disappointing. They flip flop on decisions and were completely out of touch on the needs of the business.
