Good place to get experience but after that-run!! I recommend finding a job that is not mentally, physically, and emotionally draining.

Management is a HUGE problem for this floor. Favoritism, favoritism, favoritism! Certain policies only had to be followed by certain team members. Never heard anything positive unless you were one of their favorites. They usually favorited people who picked up extra shifts. Brought several important matters to the director and always heard “I’m always there for you” but nothing ever changed. Brought issues to chief nursing director but always got shut down without solving any issues. Previous charge nurse was a major reason for leaving. Barely had any experience which led to not knowing how to be a leader and ignoring the nurses they didn’t like. Department head was known for being petty and saying disgusting things behind closed doors. Often found that the charge nurses and director abused their authority!!!!

The unit really went downhill since starting on this floor. Teamwork was amazing at the beginning but now nonexistent. New job responsibilities were added every shift without a pay change. May or may not get a raise each year (couple of cents). If anything went wrong, blame was always placed on the nurse. CNAs decided if they wanted to do work each shift and had no accountability when they decided not to do work (even though they have a “boss”).
Very high turnover rate on this floor for a reason! Always had to float to “sister” unit. Wish we could have assignments on acuity and be able to self schedule. Equipment got replaced but always seemed to go missing or get broken again. 


I get report from the night nurse, see my patients, pull my medicine from the OMNIcell, give medicine, do rounding on my patient's every two hours, look and carry out new physician orders, discharge patients, and all of the paperwork that it entails, as well as admitting new patients.
At my job, I have learned that I will never stop learning. I have learned how difficult it is to be a nurse and how much responsibility is involved. I have made mistakes and I have learned from them.
My coworkers are very helpful and friendly. We all get along great. When we have a spare moment, we all ask how the others are doing and see if they need any help.
The hardest part of my job is time management and prioritizing. Something always comes up in the middle of what you are currently doing, and you have to prioritize to see if you should stop what you are doing because the new task is more important, or if you should finish what you are doing because what you are doing is more important. 
The most enjoyable part about my job is when my patient's are smiling or laughing. It is when I know I have made a difference in their life and in their care. A simple "thank you" from them goes a long way.

You are given a list of rooms from 8-15 patients. You are expected to take care of these patients with little or no help at all. You are required to work long 12 hour shifts with no time to eat lunch. If you do actually try and sit down to eat lunch you are called on the contact phone given to you to be reached when a patient needs you or a nurse needs help. Not allowed to take any breaks and treated like children instead of adults. The hardest part of this job was being on my feet all day, transporting patients with little or no help, passing out food trays when there is cafeteria staff. Discharging patients all done at the same time, which was impossible if you’re not an octopus! Management did not care if you were sick or had other priorities at home. The only thing I enjoyed at this job was meeting new patients and the employees who had the same position as me. We are all no longer working at this place due to the horrible care black patients get over white, as well as the treatment we got as well. Nurses had us doing care they didn’t want to do

Management handles any employee disputes with an attitude of "get along or get out". They will issue problematic directives and then call you into the office for following them. They will also tell future employers lies about your work ethic and capabilities. Nepotism and disrespect toward team members is the standard practice. Full time employees are expected to participate in side projects that are mandatory and in your "free time" and you will not receive additional compensation for this. Winning team member of the month is a homework assignment on its own. If you voice disapproval at any policies, they will remind you that you are replaceable. Despite this, the team members really do care about the patients and will provide exceptional care. My direct supervisor was wonderful but the rest of administration has a long track record of being disrespectful to employees.

Overall
My experience working at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center is that Thibodaux Regional has really horrible pay. When they have a really good employee that goes above and beyond they should recognize and make sure that they’re paid for the quality work they’re doing. Most of the CNA’s at the hospital almost can care less about their job because the pay is horrible, you get what you pay for. You can go work at a grocery store and get paid more. And that’s why CNA’s come and go so much. But if they end up getting an awesome, good working CNA they should give them a reason to want to stay. Because everything is thrown on them. They have a lot of responsibility’s and instead of hiring more employees they overwork the under paid CNA’s..

Working here in the beginning was great but now it's just blahh. I enjoy answering the phones but when you have inside calls (especially 2nd Floor) constantly calling for the same exact thing it tends to get annoying.  There's no communication between the Nurses and tech on the floors. The floors (except ICU) talk to you like you're lower than them....It's not everyone on the units some of the Nurses/Techs are the sweetest people ever! My boss & supervisor are great...I can't complain about them! I also feel like the pay is definitely NOT great for the years put into the organization. Some of the Drs we talk to are the sweetest too! It's not the worst job you can ask for but some people tend  to forget that at the end of the day we still bleed the same!

Every work day consists of retrieving samples and specimens from patients and providing an immediate, qualitative analyses. It is crucial that the laboratory function as a team to provide the most accurate analysis possible.
I have learned several laboratory technician techniques, and how to work as a team to get the job done. I have worked my way to provide new innovative techniques to get the job done faster and more efficiently. My co-workers are easy to work with and do not mind helping to finish the job.
The hardest part of the job is getting results out as fast and efficiently as possible. The most enjoyable part of the day is knowing that I got the job done and helped save a life.

There was no teamwork at Thibodaux Regional. Management was poor, they had favorites and different rules for their favorite employees. Hard workers were rewarded with more work while lazy, incompetent employees had work taken away from them and given to the hard workers. There was no accountability for employees who were late to work, who left early, or left the building in the middle of the day. Management allowed nurses to bully and intimidate new employees Which caused high turnover. They were always short handed and hard working employees were expected to do several different positions with no extra hours or extra pay. The environment was toxic.

Be cautious if you work here. I was terminated for
No reason after being called in on my day off for a “90 day evaluation” and was fired when I got there.  When asked what lead to the termination, the supervisors began stumbling over their words and said I had complaints against me. The complaints were never verified and I was never approached before with such complaints nor talked to to possibly improve on the alleged complaints before hand. Was just fired with no chance given. They even back dated my termination date to 4 days before I was informed of the termination.

I did like that I had the flexibility to leave work early or during my lunch break for my kid's school functions, appointments, etc. The working environment wasn't bad. Sometimes it was stressful other times laid back. The pay could be better. There were many family friendly events throughout the year. I did feel appreciated as an employee of the hospital, but felt no appreciation from my immediate director. There is a lot of favoritism, and a lack of professionalism.
