Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care

The hiring process is slow and unorganized, yet they are severely understaffed with nurses and therapists. Poor scheduling and management (Not enough management or schedulers to handle all the case loads), this affects where you are placed with a client, you really have to do your own research on zip codes if you prefer specific locations. HR is 99% unavailable. You lose your medical benefits if you miss work, meaning if you have less than a certain amount of hours over 3 pay periods they will submit you as no longer qualified; this includes the employee being out due to illness and/or if your client is hospitalized!!! When your client is hospitalized you can work with other clients if you choose to work “PRN” status however don’t expect to find work in an area that is convenient, it can happen but isn’t always likely. Families/caregivers/parents cannot always wait for the company to find them a nurse or therapist due to the severity or need of illness of the child. This causes them to become frustrated and simply seek another company. They offer training related to your profession at least monthly. But HR is not on top of anything. You do not even get a identification badge unless you ask for it and at that you have to submit your own picture! Pay is poor too, even with experience they do not offer any flexibility.

Worked here for five months.
Hired for one department, and then the company was "restructured" less than a month after I started and I was transferred to another department. 
No training was offered in new department and I got burnt out trying to figure out how to do my new job on my own. 
Expressed to them that I would like to be in a different department because I didn't think I was a good fit, and they said I was doing a great job and not to be so hard on myself. 
After I trained myself they brought in a coworker, finally, to help me but I didn't need her at that point.
I was told that the position was remote after training but there is no formal training and they never gave me a clear answer on when I would start working from home.
Mind you they have a point system so every error you make you get a point for. Points count against you for referrals and termination. 
They give you points for making errors but don't give you any training on how to do your job correctly. 
Finally, after months of trying to stick it out, I  went to human resources to resign. The human resources representative offered to move me to another department in lieu of my resignation, I agreed. 
The next day I was terminated. I think that in and of itself speaks volumes about the company and its culture. 

The management at Thrive is manipulative, petty, and does not appreciate employee work ethic at all. There are frequent unecessary and ignorant insults of employees being unproductive or not working fast enough. This place is still attempting to find their footing after being acquired by Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care, and they like pointing fingers... a lot! The management there doesn't want you to get too comfortable and enjoy playing cruel mind games regarding job security. The upper management has replaced management or added assistant managers in favor of more malleable and inexperienced individuals.  Human Resources is not helpful and is primarily concerned with recruitment due to the turnover rate or playing public relations spokesperson occasionally. Something is always wrong, somebody is always doing something wrong, and if you're not a favorite there... you are always doing something wrong. However, there are a few decent individuals in leadership who go above and beyond everyday to be kind and helpful leaders because that is the type of people they really are. They are out numbered.

Provides nursing care according to the plan of care derived from physician's orders and Registered Nurse assessment.  Nursing Care includes physical care, emotional support, and patient and family education. Recognizes and reports symptoms that indicate changes in the condition of the patient to the Case Manager. Provides nursing care and services that is in accordance with Agency patient care and general medical policies. Adheres to strict aseptic technique when performing treatments requiring its use. Provides patients with the knowledge and assistance to learn appropriate self-care techniques. Accurately records patient's condition in the Nurses notes. Observes records and reports to the appropriate professional the symptoms, reaction and changes including: Assists with the rehabilitation of patients according to the medical care plan through being aware of and encouraging the interests and special aptitudes of patients

Not a bad company, not a good company. They do not treat the Field staff the same as the office staff. The company has 2 employee hand books, one for the Field, one for the office. They take from the field and give it to the office. The cost of the fields health insurance cost twice as much as the offices for the same policy. They do offer 2 weeks' vacation if you meet their strict requirements, then they punish you for taking it by lowering your pay. The pay is low compared to some of the other companies and they do not give pay raises for the field staff. The company has very poor communication with the Field staff. The office has meetings and discussions about the policies affecting the Clients and to the field staff, but they do not let the field staff or Clients know about the policy changes. Then when you find out, they get defensive. They went behind my back to try and take my client and replace me for asking questions. 

I have been with Thrive SPC now for just over one year. Since then the schedulers and referral recruiters have worked hard to try and keep me in the area's I want to be and seem to make it a priority I get the number of patients I want to help without pushing me into services area's or populations I do not want. My direct supervisor is easy to get a hold of for questions and makes an effort to reach out to me weekly.  Thrive SPC uses email and internet options to help inform employees of company news and ideas, but It would be nice to have a better direct communication options to other therapy coworkers to help with treatment ideas and build more relationships with other's working for Thrive SPC.

Worked there for 11 months. Was a good job until they started staffing me with cases where youre briefed little on family dynamics. Went to cases where I was the 6th or 7th nurse and if incidents occurred you were at fault and responsible. Office staff acts like theyre the ones doing all the work when theyre not. Never knew being in an air conditioned room could be so stressful. They'll always take a families word against yours also which when you start asking questions like why are you one of multiple nurses believe me youll slowly figure it out. Also if your notes are say 30 minutes late they wont include them on payroll even though they can in comparison to other agencies that are flexible. Training is also very short and not thorough. Went to another agency and was trained adequately. Of yeah and if office staff doesn't like you you won't get cases.

typical day at work is assessing your patient following doctors orders regarding patient care according to the POC. I didn’t learn anything new while working there. Management was dishonest there were no raises after nearly 2 years. They did not allow me any overtime. Work culture in the home was positive. the hardest part of the job was getting someone to return your phone call from the office without them lying to me and the family . It was difficult speaking to case managers with little to no experience. the most enjoyable part of the job is always the family and child. The pay rate is really low for high acuity. The benefits are terrible. The schedulers are extremely rude. The DON does not care about anything. Office staff should be more professional. I did not enjoy my time there. I would not recommend this agency.

The team of people I work with, and the flexibility of the job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some after normal business hours at times with travel.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I work with a great team that work hard to meet a common goal with the patient, families, and staff in mind.  We work to actively solve problems together and in a respectful sometimes creative way.  Communication is key with this team.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Travel to see patients and nurses in home, perform  assessments of patients, answering office calls from field nurses mainly. Documenting visits/ performing onboarding of new nurses in office when needed.  Ongoing communicating with physicians offices, field nurses, caregivers, and office staff.

Please be warned!! They advertise benefits, etc but don't tell you you MUST work 40 hrs EVERY week (so 36/48 won't work. It has to be 40). You get limited benefits for 36-39 hrs/week. If you're lucky enough to score benefits ... don't get excited. The cheapest one is almost 300/month for an individual which wouldn't be bad...if it was more than a $7500 deductible HDHP. PTO is impossible. Accept you won't get any. It goes by quarter. If you miss a single day...say goodbye to your PTO for that quarter. This company is greeeeedy. The only benefit is the amount of patients they have and the flexible scheduling. That's it. Don't plan to stay. Get your money. Get out. Or only PRN. 
By the way ...I don't think I have ever left a review for any company on here. Everybody has their own opinions. But I truly wanted to save somebody from walking into this disaster like I did. 
*PS thrive. No I will not email you about my concerns. You know what you're doing. Provide proper benefits and PTO. It's that simple.
