Let me start by saying i love my job and the facility I work for and the past 2 1/2 years have been the best work experience I've ever had. Day to day work for me is always different as a float we have to be able to acclimate to new offices and physicians everyday. It's very fast past but the basics are the same. Requirements of a MA are the same; rooming patients, cleaning exam room, administering injection, insurance verification, answering phones. Pretty much being able to run back office as well as front office. Workplace culture is very diverse we have over 120 physician at the clinic and I work for them all so you could imagine the very wide spread groups of individuals. The most enjoyable part of my job would have to be the constant change. Everyday I'm preparing for a new experience. I always tell others its a constant learning experience for me it's like never ending college except you actually get paid for it! Which brings me to the hardest part which is constant change, as much as I enjoy it building relationships with patients and coworkers can be difficult because there's no guarantee i'll see them again, so becoming attached and building a bond would have to be the toughest for me.

As a former Employee I would Take care of all phone inquiries, Schedule Patients, Register Patients, Update medical records, manage cash drawer, accounts receivable, accounts payable, Verified Insurances, Updated Patients information at every office visit, make sure the Physician's Assistant had all the Information he needed before seeing a new patient or seeing a patient for a Hospital follow up. I learned how there is not professionalism at the Clinic and a lot of Drama that is not addressed by management. The Training for this position is not up to standard as to where it should be either.There were a Select few of Co-Workers that were uplifting, but two of the Employees were very difficult to work with. I encountered nit picking and targeting. The hardest part of the job was putting up with a Provider that had a very bad temper and did not give any compliments or act in a positive manor. The clinic manager also lacks in compassion and is not attentive to the needs of the clinic. The most enjoyable part of my job was the Patients that I got to visit with at the window and take care of their needs and concerns.

Typical day at work includes interacting with the patients which I enjoy. Scheduling appointments, doing referrals, answering the phone, doing prior authorizations for medications and procedures for patients. Collecting co-pays and balances due to the office.Talking to billing for the patients. I've learned how to send electronic prescriptions, how to complete record requests among other things that have to be done when working the front desk. Management staff in the office is good, they respond whenever there is an issue that needs to be resolved and they take everyone into consideration when implementing a plan that will help the office run smoothly. Hardest part of the job are the patients that are always angry and don't want to keep their appointments or pay their co-pays and balances without an argument. I have learned that you can't make them do it, you can only refer them to billing and hope they keep their payment plan schedule. The most enjoyable part of the job are the patients, helping them and talking to them. The staff because they are a good group of people to work with.

Please take my advice and do NOT apply at the Toledo Clinic Business Services Dept.  The management do not care at all about their employees, unless you are a Coder.  Then, you are treated with respect and are able to use Flex time whenever you need.  All other employees are not able to use Flex time.  This was taken away, but not from the Coders.  The office is filthy dirty.  Most employees are very unhappy there.  Management will pass you in the hallway and you are totally ignored.  Human resource is a complete joke for employees.  If you have a complaint or a true problem there is absolutely no one to go to.  It is like walking on egg shells with management.  You only hear from them if you've done something wrong.  I would run as fast as you can from this company.  Complete JOKE!!

Initially, a great place to work. Then management changed. The focus seemed to change at that point. The patients were great. I miss them. I don't miss the way I was treated by the physician. In my mind, if you want your staff to work well together, you need to be open to the staff and consider their suggestions for making the office a better place. This never happened. There were never office staff meetings. We had great, very caring employees. But, behind the care for patients was a lot of frustration, and people that would probably go elsewhere if the opportunity presented itself. While I felt my pay and benefits were good, support from physicians, HR, and administration goes a long way in making a good work environment.

Treminated after 10 + years.  Was targeted by HR and Doctor worked for and a co worker who told the story a different way than said to gain trust in the office, but to back stab you, Was told by office manger when yearly review came due that you deserved all high marks, but couldn't receive them because management didn't like that so you would be given some low marks. Expected to do the job of six people for the pay of not even one. Pay stinks went a different work place made $5.00 an hour more than after working there for 10 + years, Loyalty and excellent work ethic means nothing here.

My job is contracted, and benefits are not required/provided. My job is to provided high-quality, fast, and excellent transcription to physicians. This field has become competitive due to physicians moving to large transcription companies or using dictation systems.  What they fail to realize is that using a contracted transcriptionist saves them money, they don't have to recheck my work like with dictation systems, and I am dependable, allowing myself one week vacation per year, coordinated generally with the physicians schedule. I am dedicated to this job for life and promise to give you the best finished product at the lowest rate.

Everyday was very much the same for the past 10 years. I learned how to adapt to an unfriendly environment, and to keep to myself on a day to day basis. I had a different team leader every 3 months, and felt that there was no specific job description sketched in stone for me. I valued my co-workers, because they taught me a lot about myself and the job i focused on. The hardest part of my job was going into work, not knowing what would be said about my co-workers or myself. The most enjoyable part of my job was getting my work done, and knowing, it was still going to be there my next working day.

First off, the main doctor here is an arrogant piece of work. The pay is awful for what they expect of you. Giving BCG cancer treatments should be a nursing job or a doctor, not an off the street medical assistant. Inserting caths, giving injections, it is all way too stressful especially dealing with a lot of cancer patients. Super fast paced job that lands on all of the office staff. NP here is a total psycho path. I do not under any circumstances suggest working here.

I have to say working at the clinic has been a huge blessing with many good people. Out of my 9 years of working, The Clinic has been my home for almost 2 years and one of the only jobs I been at for this long. They have showed the upmost respect to me as an employee and the staffing in all the departments get along so well and really appreciate and value each other. Coming to the clinic has been one of the best things I've ever done and I see myself here for a very long time.
