Title: Unprofessional Leadership and Lack of AccountabilityPros:No pros to report from my time at this company.Cons:My experience with this organization was highly disappointing due to poor leadership and unprofessional management practices within the Facilities/Engineering department.Shortly after leaving a long-term position to join this team, my employment was terminated under unreasonable circumstances. I had volunteered to come in on a Saturday—a day completely outside of my standard Monday-through-Friday schedule—without extra compensation, solely to oversee a scheduled project. Despite this dedication, management accused me of leaving early on my day off and questioned my trustworthiness.The department leader lacks accountability and does not lead by example. During my one-month tenure, this manager failed to report to work on four or five separate occasions without notifying the staff, and frequently left early to attend to personal errands. Additionally, there was inconsistent enforcement of workplace policies; the manager reacted negatively when I was granted a parking placard close to my work building, despite frequently disregarding parking rules herself.Decisions within this department are driven by office politics rather than performance, leading to erratic management choices that directly impact employees' livelihoods.

This place is busy all day long with gurney lining every open space that’s available. Favoritism is very obvious and a lot of nepotism at this hospital. A lot of employees have a parent, a child, or a family member who works at the same hospital; if not the same department. The cliques exist and are very obvious. The ones that have worked there a long time do not take the time to get to know the newer employees. The charge nurse is always the same two main nurses who take turn being charge and backup nurses take the role as charge when those two have a day off at the same time. Management do not care about their employees at all. They “listen” to concerns, but nothing is ever done to better a situation. Fellow employees are stuck up, even though they are new grads, but they party and hang out with the attending doctors that work there. Every outing is posted on their social media; which is very unprofessional. Every manager/ charge nurse has their best friends/ favorites so those are the employees that get to do whatever they want while others have to “follow the rules.” Overall, it’s a toxic environment. 

Typical days are fast paced. Surgeons must complete procedures on time. Employees must work accurate  and quick. Management must provide direction and a functional working environment;  and at the same time stay within budget so the hospital stays financially stable to serve the community,  and doctors, nurses, technicians and staff  are paid. The workplace culture is professional but discreet so as to protect patient privacy. The hardest part of the job is adapting to workplace culture, which may include personalities that are difficult Just look at the difficulty as a hurdle to clear on your way to your goal and find your workplace sweet spot. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you have worked a tough day and  the patient or patient's family smiles with gratitude and tells you that your efforts helped them during their stay in the hospital. Sure,  your paid to assist the patient,  but when you help the patient in  your own special way you  are also performing something that is spiritually  refreshing. It doesn't get better than that.

what I learned: need to manage time very well, need to coordinate with other ancillary (case manager, social worker, dietitian, PT, OT, ST, etc) aside from MDs; need to deal lots of psychosocial issues not just with the patients but also their families

my coworkers: are very helpful with each other because we know if we are not supportive with each other, we will be very behind with not just our tasks, but also might overlook our patient's change of conditions
hardest part of the job: dealing with family issues; some of them are very idealistic and very demanding; some of them think we are maids or robots who could provide their needs and answers right away
most enjoyable part of the job: when patients and their families treat me like their own family, I can feel the respect and appreciation in my hard work; some of them give me treats (food, chocolates, etc) as part of their appreciation and I shared it to my coworkers, this kind of appreciation lightens our day.

Here's the complete run down of this pathetic department. You start off in Decontamination where you pick up portable toilets from the many floors and half the time they're soiled. You also pick up the carts filled with surgical trays from the OR and process them. As time goes on you will be dealing with many employees coming and going in the department because everyone gets burned out from dealing with the managers unprofessional management. Then you got the nurses that will make your job beyond difficult that you would begin to stop caring about doing your job since they can't follow common sense and also make your trips to the floors for picking up IV Poles and Pumps a nightmare. The break room is always dirty, the floor is always sticky, the trash gets taken out once a day, and the fridge hardly ever gets cleaned out. If you're trying to find a spot for experience to get promoted into a scrub tech position, don't try it here. You will really wish you worked somewhere else

Being an employee of one of the Best Hospital voted in South Bay for multiple times while i was working with them makes you proud that you can definitely refer the hospital to family and friends with no hesitations.
     Working in the dept. let you become a Nurse with a strong IV skills and Central Lines accessing and care ,IM,SC injections of different types of medicines is our all day companion to all our fast paced work but prioritized patient safety as one of the hospital goals.
In service and Educations are regularly Mandated and offered to employees which makes the place receives awards and accreditations.
Seeing our patient losing hope from getting better with their condition and experiencing the side effect of the Treatment that they're getting is one of the hardest part of the Job.
Diversity in my workplace is a big plus for me , you grow and become knowledgeable  learning different culture  in which you can apply caring for your patient

A typical shift at work is unpredictable but always rewarding. I worked in oncology so typically I would begin my shift with an assignment, report from off going shift and begin with patient rounding. Introducing myself to my patients. Talking to them and getting to know a little bit about there concerns, likes and dislikes. Some nights would start off extremely busy where the patient requires more assistance than others, heavy admissions and reports. Some night can be very peaceful and quiet. My co workers always worked as a team and made sure that everyone is able to the job that needed to done. The hardest part of my job would be getting a heavy assignment and back to back admissions and trying to assist patients when needed. The most enjoyable part of my job would be knowing that I was ale to provide care for someone and need and being appreciated by the patient.

A typical day at work would be having 7 clients, very demanding and fast environment. Clients are very in demand and unstable healthwise. Usually need high care in managing pain and other health issues. I learned that if you cared for the clients needs you are most likely to succeed and accompolish their demand of help for someone who couldnt do it. I learned to build team work, prioritizing my job, working with different diversity, managing anger and pain, critical involvement with proffessionals such as nurse, doctors and therapiest, help to relief family concerns and manage to keep them above water in times of needs. The hardest part of job is not getting to sit down, and short time acquintance with clients. The most enoyable part of the job is making someone feel better and keeping them safe and the possible care you can give .

Management was horrible they didn't know how to talk to you I dread it working there great benefits though wish it was a different management though but better management skills

Being bullied by the managers understaffed and working positions that you wasn't hired for and also not getting paid for it

The coworkers are awesome culture was awesome the company was a great company it was just management that made it back so maybe 2025 they have better management with better management skills

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful looking at the clock seeing how many more hours I have to stay there

I enjoyed walking into my job everyday, greeting everyone in the office. Everyday I  grabbed coffee before clocking in. Then rushed into my little office to check on urgent emails and voicemails and the day went on. Preparing checks into batches for bank deposits everyday, Scanning,  Ordering supplies, Data entry, preparing the Doctors payroll biweekly, filing, etc. The job is difficult because I had to be extremely meticulous, but it kept me on my toes. Once new management came along the job became difficult because they were improvising our job duties. I loved it when I distributed the doctors check because they always thanked me for not making a mistake that would delay their check.
