If you have never worked in a nursing home,  prepare yourself. 
 
DIETARY AIDE-

First off- the job and hours- reading residents food cards, making drinks, doing Tray Service, bussing tables, washing dishes, then do it all over again. Pretty simple. Right? Hours. Maybe 6-2. You work 2 days then off 2 days work 3 days then off 2 days rotation. This gives you every other weekend off. And weekends are split shift. Cool? Nice right?

Next- EMPLOYEES/CO-Workers-GOOD LUCK!?
I pride myself with having the ability to get along with anyone. Just a tip. The Kitchen women are the worst!!! They will take advantage of you if they can, pretend to be your boss, cuss, be a friend to your face but stab you in the back!? Were talking about women that are 30+ yeah?! Your the new trainee, they will try and walk all over you. Why? Just because they've been there 5months, 2yrs, 5yrs, 7yrs.  The longer they've been there the worse they are!! It's sad. There's no control what so ever, no respect, no pride. They will giggle at the residents, ignore them, there's no limit!?

Charge Nurses/CNAS/Housekeeping- same as your kitchen women except they have the most contact with the residents of course. They will be a friend to your face then talk behind your back!

It's a lot of Bs. GOSSIP GOSSIP GOSSIP SO MUCH BS!

My way of thinking was do my job to the best of my ability, be friendly, courteous, respectful. Well let me tell you. They will tear you apart. 

There's an extreme amount of miscommunication with the job but not with the gossip. It's very Very Sad. This is the residents home. Would you like this when you got home? Probably NO! So My words of wisdom to this place would be. Treat others how you would like to be treated. That's a kindergarten saying right?! Yeah Well they need to emphasize that here!!! 


The other sad part. They put an emphasis on Praising God. Well hello.? I'm sure he's looking down in extreme disappointment. Once your working there. There's Zip communication about god. So I'm sure there's another form of miscommunication there


Last to leave you with.
It's a Do-able job by any means 
Feeling like your making a difference with the residents. What really hurt me the most with leaving. Only took 1-2 days to feel attached and wanna do more for them. Be friendly, smile to them and get a smile back. Just to be that extra sunshine in their life. It really hits home if you want to make a difference in somebody's life. 
They need to get this place together, clean up house. Rid of sour workers who'd rather be selfless and ugly to others, because 
all the miscommunication, gossip, drama, being taken advantage of, just isn't worth $8.35

Touchstone doesn’t value their employees. Plain and simple. They say they do, but they don’t. Most of the executives cover each other, even if they know that they do very unethical things (a lot of which are not just morally wrong, but in some cases borderline illegal). All they care about is money, but they will never come out and say it. They say they value God, but that is very misleading. Do not trust HR at the executive level. They do not lead to protect employees. Countless of employees have escalated issues at the community level and at the corporate level, and they do not get addressed. Issues like racist comments, sexist comments, harassment. If these things are said or done by “highly valuable” employees, HR will do nothing about it. “Highly valuable” employees are those individuals that bring money to the company, even if it borderline unethical. Don’t bother taking your issues to corporate, HR will do nothing, and the executives will do nothing. They will just turn a blind eye. To them it’s preferred like there is nothing wrong. Instead they’ll make you feel like you’re the crazy one and like it’s the first time they’re hearing about it. They are a very shady company. Very deceiving. They’ll say they have all these values, but they do not believe them. And because they don’t believe them, the obviously don’t follow them. People naturally live out what they believe. The company’s executives say they believe things like honesty, integrity, truth, kindness, and all these nice things. But don’t be fooled, their actions will show you that they do not believe what they say.

Our SVP for Clinical Operations was a former DON for our company.  Our VP of care  and reimbursement was a previouls MDS for our company.  We invest in you so you can invest in others.

Touchstone Imaging, now rebranded as Lumexa Imaging, has undergone a corporate restructuring since becoming publicly traded. Unfortunately, the culture shift is very apparent. The environment is entirely quota-driven, and from management down to staff, there is little to no genuine workplace culture. It is a toxic atmosphere where employees are treated as numbers rather than people, and support is minimal.

This is especially disappointing in a field centered on patient care. Providing quality imaging and helping patients understand their health should be the priority, yet management shows little concern for employee well-being. The high turnover rate speaks for itself—people simply do not want to work here.

I was initially drawn in by the schedule, sign-on bonus, and monthly incentives, but quickly realized these perks come at the cost of extreme pressure to meet unrealistic productivity targets. Technologists are overburdened with tight schedules, and corporate leadership appears focused primarily on profit, creating a conflict of interest for both site and regional management. There is constant pressure to hit metrics to support quotas and quarterly bonuses.

While I did gain valuable MRI experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a supportive, patient-focused, or healthy work environment.

A Mixed Experience. Initially, the laundry supervisor's limited interaction with me due to my lack of Spanish should have raised concerns. However, I was hired for the dietary department the next day, despite having more relevant experience in laundry. Unfortunately, the organization's compensation package lacked competitiveness, with no holiday pay and the use of PTO as holiday pay. Non-medical staff were also not eligible for overtime. Although the organization attempted to show appreciation through raffles, I never received two out of three items I won, including a TV that was promised for weeks. Positively, I received excellent training from a kind and supportive team in the kitchen. If you're seeking to advance your career in the medical field, this organization may be a good fit. However, for roles outside of the medical profession, I would advise against applying. During my tenure, I experienced unprofessional behavior from an administrator, which led to a coworker's resignation. After over a year of service, I received a minimal raise of 6 cents, bringing my hourly wage to $9.56. Ultimately, this experience has taught me to recognize my value and seek better opportunities. 

My first nursing job. I received 2 weeks of training and then I was put in charge of ~35 residents w/1 other nurse during night shifts. I explicitly told management I felt I needed more training and was given the run around about scheduling and moving people around to cover so I could be with someone, but I never received the extra training I asked for. I was supposed to be 10P - 6A, but would always leave closer to 10A due to trying to figure out most of the EHR system on my own (as I was never trained in detail on the EHR system), calling families about changes in condition for multiple residents at a time, etc. Lack of training and experience as a nurse made me feel set up to fail at this job and I constantly made management aware to no avail. I LITERALLY cried myself to sleep many days feeling like I didn’t have the proper support or training to successfully attend to my residents. I interviewed at another Touchstone facility shortly after quitting and the DON & ADON at this facility treated me as if I was expected to know everything or figure it out on my own if I didn’t know something. Needless to say, sprint, don’t run, away from Touchstone. My license and my sanity were worth more to me than anything Touchstone has to offer. I will NEVER work at ANY nursing home or long term care facility ever again.

A typical day at work is when your Director of Nursing states if you don't do this, "I'm gong to write you up."  You hear this probably 5 times a day.  What a strange type environment being pushed down peoples throats on a daily basis.  Gotta love that!  She works towards getting rid of current employees and brings along her own employees from other facilties.  And when her new people are drug tested they are positive but she throws the drug test out and says hire them anyway!!!  Little on the illegal side me thinks!  And NOTHING is ever done.  Kinda makes you a bit concerned for the RESIDENTS and FAMILY that are living there.  Then you have current employees who are told to hide their TATTOO's but if one of the DON's people she brought along from another facility has TATTOO's all over well then it's AOK for them to have theirs hang out all over the place. Seems SEXIST and RACIST.   Opinions, your not allowed to give them or you get on her radar and then you never escape her humiliation on a daily basis.  And as for help from the ADMINISTRATOR, he is as about as helpful as an emasculated bull. 

Enjoyable part of job is the Residents and thats about it!

My experience working at Touchstone Communities/ Frank M Tejeda Worst place I ever worked I received no training was never told my responsibilities when I asked for training I was blown off. I was shown a few things a day and then told that I had already been shown so they didn’t understand why I couldn’t get it they set you up to fail Most of the people are just out for themselves and no one is there for the patients

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
for me as an Activities Director involves, Planning and leading various activities, coordinating with staff and volunteers, engaging residents in social and recreational programs. and ensuring activities meet resident's physical, mental
 and emotional needs.

Manager morning meetings are gossip sessions, not confidential meetings for staff improvements. Somehow walls have ears & everything said in there spreads like fire. Not so nice when my name was mentioned over something that took place in my personal life that had nothing to do with work. One member of management would even fall asleep at her desk daily for several hours, since her office was secluded from everything. My supervisor needed to be retrained cause she would grab me & hug me tight & would'nt let go for a while. She would say cruel things & the administrator who was only briefly there at the time blew me off & didn't write anything I reported. She meant no harm by the hugging but there are boundaries that need to be respected in order to run a business, however the cruel words were a different story. I watched so many wonderful CNA's, activities assistants & shower aides get bullied right out of there. They should give them recognition it shouldn't be easy to loose a good staff member to a different place. I wish them all the best & hope they've learned from mistakes.
