Management changes from time to time, as with any company.  Some are horrible and some are really good. Favoritism is there, but not out of control. I left for a job closer to home.  There is moderate micro-managing, but with some bosses, they are cool about it.  There is a high amount of stress and frustration sometimes, as you have to clearly and constantly communicate with people-(insurance companies, Dr. offices, your boss, your co-workers, and sometimes patients), and at times you encounter a lot of obstacles when doing so.  I worked in the insurance dept. You are sitting down on a computer-all day, getting MRIs and CTs approved for patients through their insurance plans.  There is an 'instant messaging system' you are required to use when communicating with the different Touchstone facilities you work for and it can be very very frustrating a lot of the time because of different communication barriers (and sometimes the people you are trying to communicate with, just don't get it). I was able to choose a 30 min or 1 hour lunch break. There wasn't a drug screen when I was there. I'm pretty sure there is a background check. You are required to constantly (minute to minute sometimes) communicate with different facilities about their patients and their insurance plans, what scans are approved and what scans are not. You are expected to get up to 100+ patients approved and ready to go within your work shift and it can be stressful because there are a lot of obstacles in health insurance you have to deal with every day.  If you cannot maintain this quota, you will most likely not be achieving the requirements for your job.  Turnover was high when I worked there. Overall I liked it. Work attire is scrubs (which I liked). Pay was pretty fair and sometimes you get bonuses (a few hundred dollars every quarter that specific goals are met), there is a 401K and health insurance.  I lasted 4 years before I chose to move on.  It can be stressful, but overall I thought it was an okay place to work and I liked my immediate boss at the time.

I was hired, moved 500 miles for this job and when I get there it pays $4/HR less than I was told it would. Was also told that after 90 days that I would be eligible for insurance, benefits,401K and bonuses as well. After my 90 days I was told "Oh, well we only have signups for benefits twice a year." The company is all about how many patients can they cram in a day's time. The patients are herded through like cattle but you are still expected to perform optimal work in a time window that doesn't allow it. They have a steady practice of over-booking patients because their philosophy is that someone will cancel or not show up so in the end it all works out, but guess what….That''s not always the case. I would come in 30 minutes early to try to get ahead, not get lunch most of the time, and then get off 30 minutes to an hour late all just so they could cram the schedule. The phones constantly ring off the hook and the technologist are expected to pick them up if the front end lets it ring more than three times(even if you are with a patient) Guess what happens if you answer when you're with the patient? You get stuck trying to schedule other patients which shouldn't be a responsibility of the technologist who has a patient on the table. They also have several managers, area managers, and district managers who don't know the first thing about diagnostic imaging. One center has a manager that was a secretary, go figure. The radiologists and the techs that have been there a while have an ego/attitude that can't be dealt with unless you have a thick skin. This is probably the most miserable job that I have ever had.

It has been tried over and over again and has failed 100% of the time. That is underpaying employees. I watched them fire over 100 people just to move them (at great expense) to a lower paying area of the USA. They discarded thousands of dollars of equipment. Then they even ended up hiring some back on because they fired too many. It just makes no sense, the things they did and the things they do. I watched people eating cheap noodles in the lunch room as they are unable to afford even lunch. They never stop trying to underpay their employees. It is their golden rule. And as a result they end up with the absolute worst place one can possibly go to get imaging done. Their IT people are careless and they have been cited before for HIPAA violations (publically a fact). And it comes down to their trying to underpay employees. They do other wasteful things. Plus they rush their projects which end up being a disaster each and every time because if you want to ensure project failure in the imaging business, rush it. Under pay it. There are some good people here in there despite the atrocious way they are treated and paid. Their IT is so bad that it is mind boggling.

What is the best part of working at the company?
For the most part when there was family emergencies they were kind enough to work with me. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Numbers numbers numbers. So much stress in being micromanaged and told to schedule to the max to a point where we were even asked why there was a 4 minute gap between calls.  Very stressful having to constantly defend yourself when you knew you were working and taking care to get patients to schedule. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You were told one week you were doing great the next week getting wrote up because they felt you were not quirky g hard enough.  

Tip:  Trust your employees more and listen to them more. My experience is no one cared about what I had to say.  It’s great to hear you are doing a good job then stressful to get write up the next day or week.  It made one feel they were never good enough.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful and always afraid I would not schedule enough or make a mistake.  Always feeling like you could never do enough.

Pay is mid, with the advantage of monthly bonuses if quotas are met. Quotas being met does take plenty of phone calls, data entry, and faxes, so there's always something to keep you busy. In-office culture really depends on the middle management that can make your day stressful or fun (The further south you go, the better it gets). 

The company at large could use some work. goodness knows. It is clear they prioritize money over their staff, or even patients. This leads to overworked staff, stressed and running behind. And of course, angry patients who have to wait in the lobby too long or don't get the attention they need. It's the little things. For instance, the X-ray at my location is older than I am, though I'm pretty young. It can be a struggle to find and keep good technologists. 

Overall, the work itself is easy and my fellow staff can be delightful. It's a nice place to get your foot in the door if you're interested in medical administration.

Very busy place. Especially since PACE started scheduling. Pace regularly schedules patients incorrectly without enough time . Told management . They don’t do anything about it .  All about numbers. Wouldn’t mind , but they hired a new tech who I found out is getting paid more than me and got a huge sign on bonus. Asked management to match . Was told they won’t. They expect me to train a new tech knowing they make more than me . Why would anyone do that ?! They should pay atleast a retention bonus instead of paying all the new techs sign on bonuses . Makes you feel really appreciated lol. Oh well . Will be looking for another job. Plenty of jobs elsewhere that pay more and has more work to life balance. Usually need more than 2 weeks notification to find coverage , even though handbook says 2 weeks. Bad management , or not enough techs to give coverage for your off days.  Would recommend this company for new employees, but current employees will have to leave to make more money (or to get what new techs get paid) for all modalities . Wouldn’t recommend training someone knowing they make more that you. Loyalty needs to be shown bothways Imo 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Well it's sad to say they don't have any good qualities for anyone to work for them. 
Management Staff sucks and have no empathy to the staff who are their customers. Stressful environment with no help in learning new system that we are about to start on Feb 2nd which is sad to say. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The platform is free and not user friendly. New system is going to be a nightmare for all of us with little traing we've rec for 1 hr over the past few weeks is unacceptable 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We've had no running hot water for over 3 months, management Staff don't care, they have an attendance policy that's crazy if u late due to traffic whatever reason u get a half point to a pont. They give u emergency pass if u call out yet you are still penalized 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Freezing cold, crazy calls back to back which is fine but having to read the chats every 5 mins , looking at your schedule every 5 mins while trying to schedule calls is crazy as heck.

From the moment you walk into the office it is busy with phone calls, arriving patients, checking emails, faxing, and processing imaging orders from physician offices, following up with patients and dr offices, on top of daily duties. 

Then your 30 min lunch comes and goes.....

Its so much information and learning curves in the first 6 months. Nothing is ever constant and always changing day-to-day. Each center is different, the manager runs the center how they see fit. 

From the time I started until the time I left, PSR and Tech turn over was crazy high. Red flag??

Its basically a doc-in-the-box but for medical radiology. 
All they want is to get as many patients as possible for MRI's and CT's. Did you meet goal this week?? That's the one million dollar question each day. Herding patients in and out all day every day. 

At the end of your shift, you will NEVER leave on time. Once you end the training process its like they throw you to the wolfs. 
I was constantly helping out, being that team player. But it was never good enough.
