On a corporate level, this company leaves so much to be desired. Benefits and pay are below average. Corporate often makes decisions that leave a long lasting negative impact. Triage, intake and most of palliative were cut with little to no warning. They aspire to be a top healthcare employer of choice but lack immensely. On the field level, we've been fed false hope since the beginning. Because of corporate, morale on a branch level is low. The company is for profit so the bottom line is the dollar, not patient care/experience. There is a strong suspicion that they are selling across the board.

Corporate HR over looks employees that should face disciplinary action. Low production, ethical concerns, blatant refusal of care is tolerated over and over again. 

Management at a branch level is mostly knowledgeable, supportive and think outside of the box. But there are a few that dont apply to this. Corporate has made it to where managers have little to no say in how their branch is structured- even in the most high productive, high census branches. No one in the field truly knows what the TH  model is, so LPNs specifically have been wondering for years if their position will eventually be dissolved. 

Raises are 3% yearly, never more for nurses. Starting rates for new employees are often higher than those with tenure and more experience. Aides have received across the board increases several times over the years but most still have to rely on public assistance. Pay and milage reimbursement is well below industry standards as cost of living continues to increase. The cleveland territory is very large- often leading to gaps and difficulty hiring in some areas and making it difficult to travel to the office for supplies and mandatory meetings. Some service areas are nearly an hour away from main branch. Management is very transparent about this upon hire, in my experience at least.

Most stay because we cling to the hope of being a well oiled machine again. But again, morale is low and burnout is felt across the board. There's a tight bond between most of the staff. But the recent exodus has a lot questioning their longevity with a company without an advocate at the corporate level now.

There is nothing left that sets TH apart from neighboring conglomerates. No pet, music or massage therapy. No "fluff". Frankly, most days dont feel like hospice care but rather an extension of primary care. Productivity is standard. On call is manageable (roughly 2x/mon for nurses). Documentation/EMR is also standard- extensive if done right. Management does their absolute best when assigning territories. 

PTO is robust for grandfathered employees at 5wk a year. New hires receive 3wks. 7 paid holidays a year.  Bank PTO loaded 1st of the year. Read the PTO/absence policy closely.

My experience working at Traditions Health has been deeply disappointing and frustrating. The environment fostered by upper management, particularly the clinical supervisor and branch directors, lacked both professionalism and basic respect for employees.

On multiple occasions, the clinical supervisor was overheard speaking negatively about staff members, making inappropriate and discouraging comments behind closed doors — which unfortunately did not stay private. This kind of behavior is toxic and creates a culture of distrust, low morale, and emotional exhaustion among team members.

Even more concerning was the complete lack of accountability and professionalism demonstrated by the branch directors. Their leadership style often felt disorganized, dismissive, and unapproachable. Concerns brought forward by staff were either ignored or met with defensiveness. Constructive feedback was neither welcomed nor acted upon, making it difficult for employees to feel valued or supported in their roles.

The constant turnover and burnout among clinical staff speak volumes. It's disheartening to work in an environment where leadership seems more focused on micromanagement and appearances than on fostering a healthy, collaborative, and respectful workplace.

Traditions Health has the potential to be a strong organization, but that potential is being undermined by internal dysfunction and poor leadership practices. I would not recommend working here unless there are serious changes made in how employees are treated and supported.

Unfortunately this company is part of a private equity portfolio. If that doesn’t make your hair stand on end, let me explain: federal Medicare dollars are funneled into pockets of investors in Texas, Phoenix, and New York City by way of dying hospice patients’ per diem payments. You cannot value profits and people equally, and it’s clear when a health care company is part of an investment portfolio, because every aspect of the company’s motivation is centered on profits— not patients, not employees. Hard stop. 
Top management are fired and replaced with cheaper, less skilled “leaders” who walk and talk the company way, drink the kool aid, etc. Dying patients go days without comfort medications because of a shoddy pharmacy platform. Nurses leave without notice, from intense burnout and lack of clinical support.  Remaining employees are forced to take on the roles of missing employees. The EHR is genuinely frustrating to clinicians, because like all things in this company, it was chosen to maximize profits, rather than to assist clinicians to provide meaningful patient care. A work environment like this is unsustainable because one gets the very real impression that we are cogs in the wheel, grinding away to make money for the corporate/executive class in large plush offices far, far away. If you care about human beings, particularly those who are vulnerable and dying, this is not the place to work. 

The on boarding process is incredibly tedious and requires between 4 to 6 weeks from interview to start date. High turnover due to incompetent upper management. No orientation or training is offered, so unless you are already very experienced in your field, there is no need to apply. You will be handed a laptop and expected to meet all of the responsibilities without even knowing what they are. Attempts on a local level to get training are dismissed because the branch manager resigned. Everyone else works their own schedules and no one is available in the office except the young daughter of the VP, who keeps a chair warm most of the day watching YouTube videos and talking to her boyfriend on the phone. In between those activities and arriving late, leaving by 2 pm and her 2+ hour lunch breaks, there is no time for her to be trained herself or to help others. Going to the regional admin is met with automated text messages stating “I will call you back” but never does. The VP and regional admin are close friends and questioning the admin about much needed training and support results in a public attack during a company meeting by the VP. 

I've worked at Traditions for almost 4 years in sales and marketing. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my work experience. This company truly cares about the well being of their patients and staff and goes above and beyond to ensure everyone's needs are met. They have the belief that they need to take care of the people who are taking care of their patients. They provide all full-time clinical staff with cars, communication equipment (phones, tablets, laptops...) and scrubs. The CEO is a huge advocate of taking YOUR time off and spending time with your family as they want to prevent burnout and stress. Sales people are greatly encouraged vs negative pressure and they incentive well. Since I've been here, I have seen very little turnover and steady growth. New employees are always stunned when they start working because of the inviting and supportive culture.

This company is difficult to work for at best. The hospice company that I worked for prior to the acquisition was one that focused on patient care and employee satisfaction. They also had a way of treating employees that made them feel valued and like a team. This made them work together more efficiently and made overall work life pleasant. When Traditions bought them out the acquisition was terrible. We lost most of our nurses and aides. We also lost a good chunk of our support staff. We are about a year and a half into the transition and the future looks bleak from the employee perspective. The main focus of this company is the financial interest. It is a company that works to build a big census, but not provide the staff to properly care for these patients. It is so focused on productivity that it feels difficult to provide genuine compassionate patient care. Our leadership team here really works to advocate for the employees, but to little success thanks to the corporate structure. If you enjoy feeling like just a number and working for a company that doesn't seem to care about your well-being this might just be a great fit for you!

The branches operate individually based the individual administrator and one clinical manager. No one to reach out to learn from. Promotes toxicity without corporate accountability   One ugly attitude or power trip can literally damage the entire company and the upper management doesn’t even know. Watch out for your licenses

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pressure intensive with no support for education on protocols. No structure. Seems like the mission statement and the upper management have a great view and plan but they need great leaders at branch level

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Discuss issues from weekend.  Team conference with pressure tactics and no clinical support and the support offered is not accurate. Unable to really feel supported but the company has potential. But accountability at the branch level is needed

For the marketing folks that had negative comments about working here, clearly you have never worked at another HH agency. I came from a very corporately ran agency that I worked at for 10+ years, and when I tell you it was about the bottom dollar and unrealistic expectations, I'm not kidding! Traditions is NOTHING like that, and it has literally been a dream job working here compared to other agencies in my past. First of all, the management is understanding and fair. They don't expect anything that is not achievable. They set goals at a reasonable number so that they're attainable. Secondly, the culture here is awesome. It's all about team camaraderie and building each other up. Now, they're not micromanagers by any means, so if you need that then this is not the place for you. This company is growing and with growth comes some pains, but they're doing their best to keep employees happy, and keep caring for their patients as best as possible. I can assure you, this agency is the best around for employees and patients. 

Lack professionalism and dishonest management. Poor leadership, improper training, and does not protect or defend the employees. New employees are given used dirty bags from previous employees to carry supplies around to facilities and company vehicles are not properly checked or tested by an auto technician before giving the employee a vehicle risking drivers safety. Caseload was often switched without proper notice and the patient would suffer and not get proper care due to lack of time and heavy work loads. Patient families were not properly taking care of their loved one and when management was questioned about improper care at home concerns were not addressed. Overall, it was probably the worst nursing job I have ever had and I will never recommend any other healthcare workers to apply for this company. 

A typical day at work was answering phone, tracked physician orders, contacted physician office, mail or fax order to physician office, scan and attached orders,  and compliance and validation for aides visits. I learned how to do insurance verification, referrals, scheduling, demographic. I did everything I was ask to do and one day they walked in to tell me my job was eliminated but I could relocate and work in there office over a 100 miles away as it was I was driving a 120 miles a day. I had no problems working with the other offices, I enjoyed getting to know them and working with them. The hardest part of the job was  to find out that they did not have any loyalty to someone working very hard to make sure everything would go smooth. I was very loyal to them. The most enjoyable was that I enjoyed working with the doctors office  and at the end of the day knowing that I had accomplish something. I mistake was that I believed in what they said and I trusted them.
