A typical day at John Randolph Hospital as a nursing assistant would start with taking each patient's vital signs and recording the results on each chart,  assisting patients with hygiene needs when needed, making sure water container were filled if the patient did not have a procedure scheduled, assisting with the transfer of patients to new floor, for procedure and preparing to be discharged, Change linen on the beds and make sure patients had clean gowns , wash clothes and towels, assist patient with meals if needed, rotate patient every 2 hours if needed, assist with wound care when needed.

I learned how to work well with all degrees of people under many different situations.
I was trained to be a phlebotomist ( in the art of collection venous  blood well as arterial blood collection), 

When I worked on the floor with the patients I was required to do my required task within  a timely manner.

When I worked in the lab I was expected to collect specimens on time ( some were timed specimens), make sure the request form matched the patient being collected. Returned specimens to the lab.

In each position worked I formed a good working relationship with my peers.

There sometime seem to be not enough time in a day to do all the things for the patients you would like to do.

The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing I helped save a life or helped improve someone's life.

Will no train you, respect you, or care about your career growth and there's of course shortages. Staff leaving, transferring departments and sometimes not coming into work. I was mistreated here due to speaking up and asking questions. Training is an absolute joke and I did about 70 hours of modules. Plus you have orientations plus even more I guess you would say classroom training. Took almost two months to actually start work. There's no set person to train you or any set path. You just do whatever your preceptor says. I had to ask for training paperwork like more information about the job/ my duties also what I should be learning in training. Your manger may or may not be helpful. Mine wasn't and also spoke down to staff. They also have an agency I believe it's called Health Trust or something like that. Be wary of them as well. May not renew your contract or take forever to do so. Pay isn't worth your time for all the hoops of fire they make you jump through just to not be trained properly or respected. For sure apply elsewhere. 

JRMC can be a terrific place to work. Biggest problem is almost all the doctors are foreign and understanding them is difficult which is a major problem especially over the phone. Medical treatment is cookie cutter, not much innovation.  Nurses most time consuming job is excessive narcotic distribution/ no wonder there is a drug problem in this country.  Always short staffed causing satisfaction and safety issues. Hard to accomplish administrations imposed timelines on admits, discharges, and transfers.  Everything is "rushed" and "now" no matter how many patients you have or how dirty our hands are.  Nursing supervisors are of no help, they just carry clipboards and want you to say "everything is going great" but don't ask them to help you, its not their job (seems they are only there to do the bedboard and staffing) I love my co-workers, help each other.

A typical day at work for me is registering patients, handling telephone calls and emails. Ensuring patients arrive at correct modality. I have learned a great deal of medical terminology, medical procedures, and caring for patients. The management is great and really takes our concerns into consideration. We are always kept up to date on new policies and procedures. Our team is great. Full of entergetic team players. The hardest part of the job is seeing patients sick and in pain. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that I am able to brighten peoples day.

They do not respect your time off always calling for coverage on your days off

They run in clicks and if your not apart of the right click your employment is always in jeopardy

Working at John Randolph allowed me to work with so many different people. Each was unique and very interesting. Management had a habit of listening to rumors and rebelled without knowing the truth. The hardest part of the job is when we would get behind in registration and catching back up. The best part of the job was being able to work with a wonderful group of women. The company itself was great, they had great benefits and gave the employees many appreciation days.

This small, fast paced facility was wonderful to work for as far as peers while working on the floor.  However, management for the Emergency Department was HORRIBLE!!!   They actually play "favorites" and if you weren't on the team there, you did not get any of the fringe benefits.  Schedules were not accommodated, staffing was always short, no breaks during night shifts EVER and patient ratios were borderline dangerous much of the time.  I can't say enough about my peers there, but as far as management trying to help ease the work load, I understand that it is still as bad as when I was there, if not worse!

We got to work with great people. So much so that we would work doubles just because we all had good chemistry and work ethic. The doctors were cool. We got to make the sick patients well again and got to see them go home. We met alot of nice family members who were very appreciative of our care. We also were taught alot of stuff. If we didnt know or understand anything, their was always someone to show you how to do it. We also had chances to go to the operating room with certain doctors to see surgeries if thats the career path we wanted to go into.

JRMC is a great place to work, I learned a lot here, I was crossed trained in so many different things, I didnt know from one day to the next what my shot or job was, but that was the fun part, I met so many different patients, families and staff members.

Being recognized to take the position of another step on the clinical ladder is gratifying to know the employee accomplished their goal(s). Recognition given by other interdisciplinary for their meaningful contribution to practice is rewarding to nurses. Nurse Leaders is responsible to observe, guide, and support employees to stimulate a healthy work environment. The overall goal is for employees to provide safe care, be compassionate, patient, and person-centered and measure based on evidence to promote a healthy working environment
