Long but thourough review!

I was so very excited to start my very first nursing job as an LPN after graduating. It was well known from the start of the interview that I was a new nurse with only clinical experience. When I was hired I was PROMISED 8 full weeks of orientation spread on two different floors. Two weeks on one and two weeks on the other, back and fourth so I could work with two wonderfully helpful seasoned nurses. 

From the very start I had mapped out weekly plans on what areas I would focus on over the first six weeks, (admission assessments, med pass, wound care, daily assessments, CNA deligation, all paperwork, physician orders/interaction, etc). Then for the last two I would be the only one in charge while my trainer would sit back and watch & review my work to catch any goofs and give feedback. 

For about the first 4 weeks everything was running smooth. I worked with two amazing nurses that worked WITH me and never made me feel stupid or alone (keep in mind that these ladies were regular full time hall nurses, not managing nurses). Then the facility got a new Director of Nursing that had transferred from another facility and everything changed. 

When I got to my hall on week five the new director told me to go home because of budget cutting, and I was off for a full week. Apparently it wasn't worth it for two nurses to be paid for one shift. I lost a full week of practicing experience. But since I was promised 8 weeks or training I knew I wouldn't really be missing out, so I thought. 

When I was finally scheduled to return week 6 I expected to start where I left off in my training plan. However, I was offered to start working my own hall (the "slowest" hall in the building). I made it clear that I wanted to be fully prepared and asked to stay in orienting. But it came down to my only option for job security being to take the hall and the managing nurse would be there for ANYTHING I had questions with.

Honestly I was  nervous as anyone would be. My training nurses made themselves as available as possible because the manager was very scarce and made it known that she was going out of her way when I had questions. The manager was always rude, snippy, and complained about her job all the time so that I was uncomfortable to request her help. 

The workload overwhelmed me since I didn't get the training I expected to be confident in what I was doing. I ended up making a few paperwork errors and when the facility didn't have the supplies I needed for a simple breathing treatment, I had to write in the med book that lack of a mask was the reason for the treatment not being given.(I had the help of a couple other nurses to search high and low and there was no mask in the building) this was a thursday. On Monday I was called into the office and written up. Over the weekend a supply shipmentioned was delivered and they told me I had just looked over the box (the shipment had not been made till after my shift on thur night). Apparently they wanted to put the blame on me instead of the State seeing they lacked supplies when it came time for their yearly audit. 

There was another instance where I had an admission and asked for the manager to come look over my paperwork before the end of my shift. She of course never showed and told me that the day nurse can look at it and anything I missed will be taken care of. Up Until this point I only had the oppertunity to just ASSIST with an admission in training because i was only given half of my training time,  so I really wanted it looked over before I left. 

This led to another write up. At this point I was called in to talk with the facility supervisor ( the one who ran the whole facility). She asked why I wasnt on my "A" game after 8 weeks of training. I explained that I only had 4. She asked what I thought would help me and I asked again to work alongside another nurse for a good full 5-7 more days(to crunch time and become confident I would be able to work without as many questions anymore). My request was denied and I was told  my manager would be available for anything I needed yet again. 

This went on for another week or two until I made a small non fatal med error because of how the med was written out on the MAR (the other nurses on my hall had been making the same error as well). I was then told I was suspened, off a day, then got a call that I was being fired. I was devistated. 

After a few months I re-applied, confident I would just need 2 weeks orientation. I thought I stood a chance since I had a couple months experience with the facility and I knew what areas I needed focus on for training. I was denied and told to get a year or two experience before ever thinking of re applying again. 

Not sure if all of Trilogy is like this but the facility I worked for was more concerned with saving money rather than fully training me as originally guaranteed.  It is a great facility if you are a resident or a nurse that dosnt need any training. New nurses don't stand a chance, which is like every other company that I have stumbled across since I've been away from Trilogy. 

The funny thing is I recieve weekly job alerts that they are in need of LPNS and are interested in me (my resume has not changed)

Hampton Oaks Health Campus is a joke at best. The fact that the company states multiple times that it is bent on creating an exceptional environment for employees and residents is utterly over exaggerated. Within the past year alone the company has cut spending on giving raises to workers who deserve them and, has instead, started spending money on "repairs" and "improvements" that have either made things harder to accomplish tasks, or weren't needed to begin with. Examples are: all new wooden floors in the service hall replacing the linoleum tiles, as well as the break room, new dining room chairs, and new carpet in management offices. Costs that had to have easily been over thousands. Thousands that could have been spent giving worth while employees raises that they were denied for the past two years of previous employment. Being a nursing home-health campus, the nursing department is the biggest department in the building. Because of this, they make all the rules and everyone else must adhere to them. For instance, I work in the kitchen, and we have, within the past year, adopted so many more tasks and procedures to make mealtime more streamlined and efficient. However, these procedures only go to help nursing get what they want faster and thus puts more stress on us in the kitchen to get them done with less time. The amount of tasks and regulations we have had to undertake over the past year are innumerable. We hare having to do more and more things with less and less time. Management and corporate aren't doing anything but scolding us for not being able to do everything that we must do. To put it metaphorically, you can't hand a hammer and chisel to three Romans and expect Rome to be built in a day; hence the saying Rome wasn't built in a day. However, no matter how hard we try or what we do, the kitchen is consistently being stomped under the boot of nursing and ultimately corporate for their own downfalls and shortcomings. They are too ignorant to see that if they actually listened and used their brains, then they would see that we're not as useless as they believe we are. But, as it seems, common sense is highly discouraged at this establishment. Also, our executive director is what I would like to call a visionary. She tells us that she wants us to try doing something new, but doesn't tell us how we should go about implementing this new something. It's like she hands us a paintbrush and a canvas and says "paint me a pretty picture", and we have no idea what kind of pretty picture she wants or what to do/use to create said picture. 

Hampton Oaks Health Campus and Trilogy Health Services is a laughing stock when it comes to management. The services given to the residents are surpassed by none other, but in terms of a place of employment, anyone seeking a job in the healthcare industry would be wise to look elsewhere.

Where do I begin? The culture/mission isn't followed. They boast standards but don't enforce them on certain staff. Favoritism is a constant issue. Some people get pointed for calling off others don't. i knew this because i had access to attendance points and could look back and see if they had been. I brought this to my Regional Manager's attention and he said quote "yeah this is an issue at other campuses as well". I was consistently harassed about my personality because a few managers didn't like that i was straight forward. At one point the Executive Director there told me i need to lie to people to make them feel better. I was told my communication wasn't good, so i built multiple tools to make it easier and communication between myself and other departments better and was promptly told by the Executive Director that i was quote "covering my own a**". Meaning, he didn't like i was being proactive and trying to fix things. At one point he tried to PIP (personal improvement plan) me because a few people didn't like the way i made them feel. Unfortunately i had to point out that you can't PIP someone for feelings. The management style here is Unicorns and Rainbows. Meaning, there is no management. I honestly couldn't tell you who was in charge because there was no accountability for anything unless you weren't liked. When they say that this isn't like any other healthcare company, they aren't lying, its hands down worse then any other company I've ever worked for. I was written up because it took me an hour to respond to an emergency call. Was told i had to respond promptly, but no time frame was given which meant that whatever he felt was timely. When i mentioned that my previous regional manager had told me i had 2 hours i was told that that doesn't matter what he said. When I spoke to regional HR she told me i need to verify anything my, and im not joking here, regional support manager says to me with my ED. Your regional support person will NOT stand up for you even if he feels that what is being said is wrong. He said to me, that he didn't agree with the ED but he wanted the ED to like him so he kept quiet. It is an absolute joke. Managers are afraid to say anything to staff because if they do they get reported for being "negative" or they get bashed on the employee surveys. I heard it time and time again from staff saying, "i don't like how she talked to me, she's going on my survey". Don't bother complaining to home office, they will just say you may happier at another campus when it opens. After 6 months i knew i made a mistake but had to stick it out for 2 years. If you like being verbally assaulted and harassed by the ED here, then by all means go for it but I am seriously warning you that you will be until you leave like the multiple other Managers (not just in my department) before me. The highlight of my day was leaving.

I was a cook, working 8-13 hours a day. No breaks or lunches.  I had no time to, but lunch hour is taken out regardless. I worked off the clock several times, so as to be clocked out a little after seven p.m. they do not like overtime. No dietary aid to help for the first 9 months I was there. I did it all. Cooked, cleaned, swept, mopped, washed dishes, clean deep fryer, grill, and ect. Also, I had to use my own vehicle to go get groceries for all meals, all the cooks had to do this that worked at Legacy. A lot of drama in this kitchen, and talking behind your back, and a lot of turnover,  should have been my warning. They go by trilogy standards  and use a point system. No matter if you have a doctor's excuse, a child with behavior issues, a minute clocking in late or clocking in five minutes late. Clock in was four minutes before or four minutes after your scheduled time. The ratio between residents and nurses/cnas was very poor. A lot of falls for the residents. No activities for residents for around five months, while the upper management looked for a activities person.  The company acts like you owe them for hiring you. Very poor communication from management to employees.  I  did my very best. Or so I thought. Fixed and bought special groceries for the residents, tried to decorate and liven legacy up but it was "against trilogy standards". I miss the residents terribly, and there children who would come in to visit them. Had to follow what was on the menu to cook, a lot of soups, a lot of the time! Ridiculous, as much as these folks pay. I was terminated due to my points. You get .20 per time you are late, sick, or whatever Up to seven points. I took pride in my job and I thought, did a great one. Doesn't Matter, "trilogy standards". The pay was good as well as the benefits. too much drama and backstabbing. They want people that don't know much in the kitchen, no one that knows what they are doing Or can really cook. If you can warm things up or set food out of the freezer, that's what they want. No home cooking like their brochures say.  Extremely disappointed and hurt by working there.  I feel so sorry for the residents, and worry about them. This wasn't just a job to me. I apologize this is so long and random. Typed as I thought of things.

Unfortunately, my experience with this company was overwhelmingly negative due to a deeply toxic culture, poor management accountability, and misleading communication about compensation and job responsibilities.

Key Issues:
	•	False Promises Around Compensation:
Employees are told they’ll receive free meals, but this is not consistently honored—especially for management-level staff (“black shirts”), who are often turned away by kitchen staff. This is one of several examples of promises made during hiring that aren’t upheld once you’re on the job.
	•	Toxic, Blame-Driven Culture:
Interdepartmental relationships are unhealthy, with department heads often deflecting blame onto others to avoid accountability. Instead of collaboration, there’s constant finger-pointing, which directly affects staff morale and overall operations.
	•	Concerning Treatment of Residents:
While the company outwardly promotes a resident-first culture, there were repeated complaints from residents about emotional mistreatment by nursing staff—many of which went ignored or downplayed. It’s disheartening to see that these concerns weren’t taken seriously.
	•	Misleading Job Roles (Especially in Customer Relations):
Roles like “Customer Relations” are grossly misrepresented. You’re expected to be a receptionist 90% of the time, and doing anything outside of answering phones—even your actual listed responsibilities—can lead to reprimands.
	•	Unprofessional Exit Practices:
Do not give notice if you plan to leave. This company has a well-known pattern of immediately terminating employees once they give notice. I experienced this firsthand, and so did several coworkers.
The company claims that completing required trainings will lead to a raise or advancement. I completed all my assigned trainings promptly and met expectations, but never received the raise I was promised. It’s incredibly discouraging to put in the effort and not be compensated as agreed.

The dream you get sold during on-boarding, is quickly forgotten, once you're thrown onto the floor with little-to-no training. You'll likely be promised a full 5 days of orientating, and quickly see that there's a variety of reasons they don't follow through. This will most likely be evident within day 1-2 of orientation. The promises of hope overflow into every aspect of the job, until you are forced to see there is always some "emergent reason" those promises aren't fulfilled. 
The attendance/point system is just short of being a complete set up for failure. You're expected to be extremely flexible when the you're randomly put on the schedule, including when you're put on for days/shifts that contradict what you agreed to when hiring on. You'll likely be told you can't be taken off the schedule this late of notice, despite it being a shift you don't work, because the schedules are put out in such a way that you automatically miss the cut-off date to request time off (despite the problem being an error and not a request off) by the time the schedules are finally sent out.  That leads to the other HUGE issue. You NEVER have a set schedule unless you agree to work on-call shifts on the weekends. 
They consider a set/rotating schedule as a privilege. This method of scheduling frequently leads to some shifts being extremely over-staffed, and others being dangerously under-staffed.
However, should you clock in a minute early/late, you get as many points as if you called in for half the shift. 
Forgot your badge? ....you're getting as many points as if you called in for half a shift. 
Time-clock messing up? ...points automatically get added to the system and the scheduling dept. will tell you they don't have access to remove them once they're in the system. (despite you not knowing that you received the points UNTIL they were in the system.)
There is zero compassion when it comes to unfortunate situations that may come up in life. (ie: car wrecks causing you to be tardy/absent, hospitalizations, doctors orders to be off for x amount of days.... You're getting points!)

Management has favorites. A nurse was brought into the CFO's office and berated for what she stated on an anonymous survey and told not to do it again. Retribution is in the culture here, so it is best to keep your head down and work. Workers on day shift during the week have lunch brought in weekly for them. We used to have monthly fun activities for the staff, but it was canceled at our location. We do not have annual reviews, so the only way for unproductive staff to be fired or counseled is for you to tell the supervisor. If the person is one of the favorites, retribution will be coming. This could be counseling or rumors spread from management.
Staffing is short. In order for the management to get their bonuses, they do not staff well. This affects the care of the residents. If a person calls out, the on-call nurse or CNA is supposed to go in and work for the absent employee. Many times, they staff the minimum, and nurses will have to cover 20 patients. If you have a complaint about an individual, especially management, there is only one person to go to and that person is not at HQ. Since nothing changed, I am sure my complaints made it to HQ.
Equipment often is broken or the power cord is missing and the machine's battery is dead. Supplies are hit or miss. We run out of briefs and chuxes frequently or we run out of a size and only have smalls left. Resident clothing is lost frequently. Sheets, towels, pillows, and blankets run out frequently.
Foodservice variety is poor. The quality of the food has decreased. Many items are previously frozen and are cooked for the meals. The kitchen often runs out of "main" dishes and the nursing staff is left to relay the news to the resident. Meals are not tailored for the patients. The only thing that is tailored is thickness. Many patients who have eating issues are left with one to three things on the menu to eat. The kitchen staff often calls out and the nursing staff has to pick up the slack.

Trilogy employs those with a Servant's Heart.  In turn, those who manage us employees also have a Servant's Heart, both for our residents and for those they manage.  One of our company slogans is that Trilogy Employees are treated like Royalty.  This could not be more true.  I have been with Trilogy for almost ten years and each year just gets better and better.  The benefits and perks offered by Trilogy are unsurpassed by any of our "competition".  

A typical day at work flies by.  While we work hard there is also TONS of laughter and fun.  Our Trilogy Culture creates an atmosphere you must experience to truly appreciate.  

Trilogy is all about "growing our own".  Each day I learn something new.  I began my career with Trilogy as a CRCA in 2010, eventually working my way up to Guest Relations, then AP/Payroll Coordinator, and am currently a Business Office Manager.  Trilogy has invested a lot of time and money in me and I could not be more grateful.

Trilogy Management could not treat employees any better.  They are truly here to serve us.  One of the best examples of this is the Trilogy Pyramid used to describe the 'pecking order'.  This Pyramid is upside down, with floor staff being at the top and trickling down to the bottom, where our CEO is.  The idea is that management works for their employees.  I have seen first hand how true this really is.

Each day brings new challenges but that is to be expected, this is work after all.  The most enjoyable part of working for Trilogy is that you always have someone to help you with those challenges, if need be.

If you are thinking about applying for a position with Trilogy Health Services, do your self a favor and do it!  You will not regret your choice.

This company puts you through all kinds of interviews and then after you get through the final round they place you in Onboarding where they basically tell you all about how they're so different than all the other Long Term Care companies. They present you with all of these standards that sound too good to be true and they provide you with "chef" prepared meals that they assure you residents are served daily. They talk to you all about their "culture", and the Trilogy Acronyms. LBE (Lead By Example) TAWB (Team Approach Works Best). Leading is done only at the convenience of most of mgmt, as well as team work, that basically means, sorry I'm salary and not coming in so all of you there will just have to get it done. This mean if one nurse has to run 3 halls on nightshift so be it. I've never quit a job without notice! I gave them time to get better, I was promised the sun and moon after twice of turning in a notice...they lied. They don't care how short they work you, or if you're alone on a dementia unit, that their hand book clearly states requires 2 staff members at all times. I worked from November 2015 to May 2016 and never even got a 30 min break. I'd rather work where I know it's difficult but I know what to expect than be brainwashed by a company that couldn't care less about fulfilling their "culture" and "standards".  Very disappointing that I gave a year there and lost my seniority and spot at my previous job which I'm now going back to.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Paid weekly and a "free meal", monthly party that some staff members can attend.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not enough staff coverage. Typically was one CNA to care for between 6 to 9 residents. Multiple difficult residents, some who were combative and multiple others who are fall risk, but try to transfer or stand anyways. No holiday rotation, coworkers sometimes would micromanage each other, expected to work even with injuries.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They've been renovating since the beginning of November, still not done. Floors are mostly carpeted and difficult to move the lift machines due to the thicker surface. Culture is pretty good, just some micromanaging by some staff. There are a lot of good workers who care, just not enough with the heavy workload.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
PM shift typical day goes like this: Stop by the nurses station for report, grab a cart with supplies, work on get-ups, bathroom residents, walk the residents, take the residents to activities, take them down to meal, pass food trays, feed the residents who need help feeding themselves, take residents back to their room, do resident showers, get residents ready for bed and in bed, make sure all safety precautions listed in their cares are met before writing them off, chart their cares, work on overnights chore lust because they can't do it, 10pm rounds, put away supply carts, take out trash, put in laundry, and clock out for the night.
