Overview:
The program is designed for individuals dealing with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mood disorders. It's structured to offer support while allowing patients to maintain their daily routines, with therapy sessions typically held multiple times a week depending on individual needs.

Treatment Approach:
The program takes a holistic and personalized approach, which I found particularly valuable. During my time, I worked closely with a team of mental health professionals, including therapists, counselors, and sometimes psychiatrists. They helped create a treatment plan tailored to my specific needs and goals. It included a combination of individual therapy, group therapy, and psychoeducation.

One of the strongest aspects of the program is the integration of evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques. These modalities were incredibly effective in helping me develop healthier coping mechanisms, challenge negative thought patterns, and improve my emotional regulation.

Group Therapy:
Group therapy was one of the most impactful components for me. It allowed me to connect with others facing similar struggles, which reduced feelings of isolation. The group discussions were supportive, non-judgmental, and facilitated by skilled therapists. The sense of community and shared experience really enhanced the healing process.

Flexibility and Convenience:
The outpatient format is ideal for anyone who doesn't require 24/7 supervision but still needs consistent support. I appreciated the flexibility of attending sessions in the evenings or on weekends, which allowed me to continue working and fulfilling other commitments. There were also virtual options available, which made it even easier to attend sessions when life got busy or I couldn’t be there in person.

unfortunately, everyone knows that working in a field that supports those that may have physical, mental or emotional restrictions is a difficult, unique and a career for a small demographic and with that saying, of course, being underpaid, but the above average benefits, The ability to make a change and also the ability to have a management company, not just department, but a managing company Truly have your personal interest on their list. It may not be there first or second, but I will tell you this, even though I am no longer employed and feel like I was terminated unjustly I cannot deny the level of support I received when I asked for it and also the flexibility that I was also granted if you understand, you will not be paid hardly close to what you’re worth is and or also how demanding the job is on your vehicle if you have that job on your spirit and heart, you would think we would be paid right next to the doctors and lawyers, but if you’re looking for a company that on the surface level seems like they care about their employees and members this is that of course there will be office or maybe even in the field contention but for the most part, having the ability to be in the field and create appointments and create your schedule on your own for a person like me is priceless 

So much of my time working for this organization was spent solely focused on trainings that did not apply to my particular position and I was left with so many more questions than answers that no one could really answer for me as no one really seemed to know how to do their jobs. Interactions with management left me feeling exhausted, overworked, underappreciated, under supported, and frustrated. SO MANY pointless meetings. My interactions with HR always left me frustrated as it became clear over time that serious concerns and reports were not taken seriously though the same could be said about direct management as well. Even knowing that, in the end, I had more training about how to interact with billing procedures than I did actual client interactions. It made me question what the real goal ever even was. Working for this company doesn't even pay enough to make any of it worth it.

This all being said, the best part was interactions with clients. Supporting the clientele and being able to see their smiles made all of the frustrations with management just a little bit more tolerable. 

Management was really friendly and accommodating at first. They'll make you feel like you can go to them about any problems you're having or just to check in. However, the moment you fall behind (which is incredibly difficult to avoid), that kindness stops. Their poor management policies, problematic quality assurance practices, and unreasonable productivity expectations set you up for failure. They blame the specialists for management's shortcomings and will shame you for taking a day off. Big red flag on that note: you only get THREE paid holidays per year as a full-time employee. Yep... If you are behind on documentation or don't have the accruals (which they force you to use if the office is closed), they will deny your request. Of course, if you are a perfect productivity robot, they will treat you with the utmost respect. But if you're not churning out the numbers or you need individualized support, they will constantly remind you that you're a burden to the team, no matter how hard you try.

At the urgent care clinic it had a high school vibe. When I worked in their Yolo program it felt like family. Turning Point Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic felt like they were a family and I was not. I don’t judge at all but the conversations they have at work regarding sleeping with multiple partners, being “dog parents” and shaming me for being an ACTUAL PARENT TO AN ACTUAL CHILD, and just making me feel very excluded from the group. There was not one person I was able to befriend. I was offended at a lot this team would talk about but I just ignored it but the second I tried to befriend someone and talk about my relationship then everyone turned against me. It’s a double standard there. If you aren’t a dog parent and have conservative beliefs then Turning Point Mental Health Urgent Care is NOT the place for you. I have many years working in the field and last I checked it was always about putting the client FIRST. Team morale is good if you can conform and deal with useless chatter, but the workplace vibe for me was actually traumatizing to the point where I had to go back to therapy and seek mental health help for myself. 

I was an unpaid intern and they worked us to the bone. There were not enough therapy rooms so they told us to do therapy at Starbucks. Overwhelmed by intakes and assessments, and management just shrugs and says, too bad, if the county overwhelms us then you have to be overwhelmed, too. Overwhelming amount of assessment paperwork per client. They focus on billable hours and not quality of work. If you're a therapy trainee, they limit how much therapy you do and load you up with assessments instead. Case workers are overwhelmed. They keep adding more and more clients when there are not enough people to work with them. Some staff are mean girls and gossip, others are just checked out. Management does not like to answer questions and gets annoyed. Finding a manager is sometimes impossible, a big problem if you have a client emergency. Intern director is mean. Would not go back here. If they treat you bad as an intern how will they treat you when they feel entitled to your work?

Turning Point Community Programs is a mission-driven organization that truly prioritizes the people it serves. Working here has been a rewarding experience, especially seeing the positive impact on individuals facing mental health and housing challenges. The organization promotes a culture of compassion, teamwork, and respect. Management is generally supportive and encourages professional growth through ongoing training and development opportunities. Staff members are passionate and dedicated, creating a collaborative environment where everyone works toward a common goal.

Like many community-based programs, the work can be fast-paced and sometimes emotionally demanding. However, the sense of purpose and the strong support among team members make it worthwhile. Communication across departments continues to improve, and leadership is open to feedback and new ideas.

Overall, Turning Point Community Programs is a meaningful place to work for anyone who values service, advocacy, and making a difference in the community. It’s an excellent opportunity for those seeking hands-on experience in behavioral health and social services.

This job is great for getting mental health experience. ISA combined 2 jobs into 1 (case manager & conservator) and you learn a lot about the Stanislaus county BHRS. 
With that being said, you can imagine we are significantly underpaid compared to Stanislaus County conservators & case managers.  Also, our program director continues to expand our job duties without the compensation to match. She has created multiple programs and has utilized ISA employees to step in to support these programs. We have only gotten raises thanks to California’s minimum wage increases but it’s been about 2 years. No bonuses. This job can be extremely stressful at times and when we voice our stress we’re told we have it easy compared to other programs. We are always understaff because of all the burnout this job brings. I think this is a great job for a first time case manager who is interested in mental health.  This job however is not a career most people will retire in. People average between 1-3 years working here as a case manager. 

When I interviewed for this position I asked specifically what the expectations and responsibilities were, and I should have declined the offer with their answers alone. As leadership outline a 'unreal' picture. Leadership 'talks highly' of the program, but in Reality does not have the proper knowledge to run it. They explained their expectations like they know what they're talking about, but a day later will give conflicting answers and not help. It makes it difficult to be confident and comfortable in your role, when you have leadership that isn't supportive, nor listens to you when you express your concerns. I feel leadership see each client as $$, therefore tries to enroll as many clients as they can. Thus causing overworked employees, and unrealistic case management. Many of the clients referred does not meet the criteria, yet leadership demands you to enroll the clients into the program, giving false hope to the clients. This program could have been great for what the state of CA intended it to be,  but I feel Turning point has it's own Reality of what they want it to be. 

Worked at TSS north for one year.  The job was “okay” in terms of work/life balance.  I was paid $17/hr and I feel that the starting pay should be at least $20.  Not only do you have OD shifts (which wasn’t necessarily horrible depending on what you have scheduled) you conduct groups for  2 months (once a week) along with managing your caseload.  Documentation/billing is tedious especially since you bill for anything client related.  Also, depending on the client, you are assisting with medication management (which means you determine the clients medication regiment….along with watching them consume) scheduling psych and doctor appointments and providing transportation to those appointments.  Besides appointments you are also scheduling ISP meetings which can be tedious because you have to make sure your clients team is involved and sometimes people aren’t available.  I just feel like you work a lot doing this job and are always behind on billing.  The stress I felt at this job wasn’t the work stress I was willing to have.  The job isn’t for everyone but looks great on a resume.
