Amazing benefits, great place to work, will learn a lot, management is a hot and miss, will have the opportunity to work with innovative team. Great place to grow. A lot of potential to move up and versatile place to work. One of the Best contract for RNs in the OC. Only thing is parking, hope they would take away charge to park because why. Great security team and shuttle service. Variety cafeteria experience. Trainings always available, easy access to trainings via their uclearning system. Accommodating if you need an accommodation for work  if you want you can have schedule of 12 or 8 hours depending on department. Option to work at one of their outpatient clinic. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. Very clean vicinity, approachable management that is striving to meet the magnet values of the hospital. You Feel appreciated  and seen at the workplace and if need place of improvement they are there to help to improve. Great pay increase and pension available as well.  The people you work with make the shift and job enjoyable. Doctors are approachable and take feedback since most are learning and are easy to communicate with. That’s pretty much what a day at UCI looks like from a person that has worked there more than 8 years. 

Billing department (PBG) is too concerned with quantity and not quality of work (productivity), but management doesn't provide tactics to help meet quota, especially during probation period. I was about 1 or 2 accounts short from meeting productivity levels, but was released prior to probation period being completed. One on one training was a terrible!! I was left at the "trainers" desk for over 30 mins with no explanation; was told by trainer "My Boss knows where I was at"; later found out she was gossiping with a supervisor of our department ; completely and profoundly unprofessional for someone's first day. Had to pay monthly (pay check deduction) for parking that is about 1/2 mile from the office. Found out promotions were far and few between, and had to be a "favorite" of management. They allow others (tenured employees) continue to fake accounts to meet productivity with no correction to actions. I would bring suggestions to help reduce AR but was told to "stay in my lane". Management seems to like complacent and nonanalytical employees.

This Job only looks good on paper but being employed by the this place was the worst decision I ever made. The UC System is SO SLOW processing everything, their excuse is there is a "delay". Really what it is is it's unexperienced people in HR who don't care about their job, doing the BARE minimum to stay below the radar and still have a job. Meanwhile, your benefits are all messed up, you're not entered into the system so you don't have access to anything, they take forever and a day just to do all your onboarding, and SO much more. If you work anywhere near the hospital, they charge you for parking and it ain't cheap and it's FAR. The people in the parking office are anything but a delight. There is a HUGE LACK OF TRAINING. You are expected to succeed when you have NO idea how to do your job because you weren't given proper training. The workplace culture is anything but inviting, it's a survival of the fittest. You are expected to show up to work everyday, even if you are morbidly ill. Everything you can imagine wrong and unfair in the workplace, you will experience it here so beware before applying.

There are so many things! 
Firstly and most importantly, you get to work at your own pace, which makes this place so peaceful. I strongly believe that this luxury is responsible for our low turnover rate and reduction of career-ending injuries. 
Secondly, your skills and knowledge will multiply with exposure to a variety of intricate exams and pathology, and we have lots of people willing to train! When I say we have a great team, WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM! 
Lastly, no micromanaging! Nobody breathing down your neck or hovering over your work. Our supervisor is an RDMS himself, and he is very easy-going. How much better can it get? & The list goes on...

I ran a really, really busy Uro/Gyn clinic. 25-30 pts /day. Doing many different procedures and treatments. I loved the pt's and my Dr's were awesome.I shared duties with one RN, and we worked our butts off. The pt's were great, some needy, but that's normal. The Dept. changed MSO's..and then they determined that I could be replaced (SR>LVN) with 2 young new nurses..yes, two. They deleted my position thinking they were going to save money. I upheld that position since 1982...No one was even close to being there that long. Therefore, all the 'little jobs' went to me, sorting stuff for Billing office and Radiology, getting ICD9 codes people missed, ect,etc. Well, I just retired instead, now I'm ready to get back and do something productive. Need any part-time help? Would like to stay in my area, Huntington Beach...

Management was so far removed from what we are actually doing on the floor but had such high expectations that were not communicated to staff (like myself). Team members would put in this facade of trying to be supportive and nice, but really they would go behind your back and snitch on your supervisor when they have no idea what is actually going on or transpiring because they don’t work on the unit you do. It’s very fake. Only care about covering their butts -!; do not care about actual patient health or care or services. I saw this as an employee who was also navigating healthcare services for a loved one. I had my loved one’s speech therapist message me directly about my loved one on my work account. I didn’t respond and obviously the therapist documented it differently. Unprofessional, fake, un compassionate, no communication or support as a new employee 

I worked for UC Irvine almost 10 years between different departments and one thing for sure is that management is unfair and definitely plays favoritism. Being a minority in a department is very common and unsettling. If you want to work in the main Hospital you' better learn some Tagalog and if you choose the clinics I sure hope you understand Spanish otherwise you will feel like an outsider in forbidden territory. Human resources is a joke and IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE remember that. They constantly have new HR reps and are not fully aware of uc policies. I had to literally email one rep a pdf link directly from their policies and procedures online just so she could stop verbally telling me I was the one who was misinformed. The union only gives minimal protection. They're more focused on bigger fish with UC. If you love your work, The patients will definitely help keep you motivated and you'll enjoy your 8, 10, or 12 hour shift.

busy rutine, independence but at the same time we are been watch. We received nasty email from the supervisor at that clinic, I did not feel valued at that clinic, management makes you feel just like a number. Their reviews are interesting they expect a lot from us without the proper length trainning. I did not feel valued at this clinic. LVNs keep moving to other jobs. I got a poor review for the first time in my nursing career. 
I would not work in that clinic again. Beautiful clinic but bad managment, the manager is not present in the review and you can tell they are a clan, themsnager just walks around some days and comes to the nurse station to joke around and talk about her personal life but offers no support or feedback. I don’t recomend this clinic. 

A typical day at work would be fast paced, which of course I love working in a fast paced environment, it gives me chance to get more things done and learn alot of other things that I never really learned properly in school. Every worker was very welcome on my first day, they welcomed me on my first day with open arms and warm kind smiles. The hardest part of my job would have to be keeping up with evey doctor, because there was four to five doctors in my clinic and I had to be up and down the clinic the whole time I was working. The most enjoyable part would be meeting new people and building relationships and getting to know alot of different people, surprisingly I found that everyone is a really kind person if you actually give them a chance.

-a typical day includes gathering patient data including history and present illnesses, current lab results, pending lab results, and doctors' progress notes, and determining plan of care for multiple patients under my assignment
-learned time management to be very essential in my nursing care
-learn to provide and ask for necessary help when deemed necessary for my coworkers
-most difficult part of job is seeing patients newly diagnosed with very life-threatening diseases 
-most enjoyable part of job is the appreciation patients give and their improvement during their hospital stay under my care, the amount of resources available from personnel, and camaraderie between everyone.
