If you’re looking to learn and grow in your career, this is the place to be. Specifically, the Altamonte Springs location (which is considered a satellite office). 

The main office in Fort Lauderdale will offer you two-weeks of training but it’s a lot of information to learn within a short period of time. Luckily, after you complete your two weeks, you will still have access to all training material and you will have plenty of paralegals who can help you if you get stuck.

The managing attorney of the Altamonte Springs office is single-handedly one of the best attorneys that you’re going to find. He has high standards and he expects you to put in the effort and he will be right there with you.

The job is stressful and sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming. But this is where communication and knowing how prioritize tasks becomes key to success.

Paralegals are expected to work with their team and be able to work a case from start to finish.  Plan to attend trial with your attorney when the time comes.

Training and assistance is always available from the experienced paralegals in the Altamonte Springs office and you’re given multiple opportunities to succeed.

The rep unit is the worse department to work for in this company. Employees are micromanaged with everything they do from how often you use the bathroom,  to going to the vending machine which is located in other building because you will get in trouble. . Management is very unprofessional in this unit and don't adhere to the rules the place on the employees. I would highly recommend not working for this company if it's in the rep department. 

Compared to companies such as Allstate and State Farm, PTO is terrible for new employees up to 5 years of experience. You only earn 3.70 of PTO every two week. As opposed to the aforementioned companies start you off with 20 plus days of PTO and resets every year. Employees are allowed to have more than 40 hours of PTO banked. Which is only 5 days. 

The culture is very conservative. The company finally adopted a causal Friday when you can wear the company shirt opposed a shirt and tie everyday. This company should allow employees to wear the company shirt everyday, you never come into contact with any customers. 

Training is average and there is little room for growth, unless you know the right people.

Worst job of my career.  If you do well, no one says a word.  If your teammates do poorly, no one says a word.  Management is overworked.  Paralegals are always wasting time cleaning up others messes.  Invoices do not get paid.  Experts do not get paid.  Depositions never get set by the legal assistant.  Sanctions are ordered to be paid then the payment never gets sent or the deadline is missed and more sanctions have to be paid.  Attorneys are constantly being yelled at by the judges.  Cases get thrown out for failure after failure.  Turnover rate is the highest I’ve ever seen.  Files get ignored.  Emails get ignored.  You will be ignored.  Don’t bother doing more then the bare minimum because hard work here gets you nowhere.  

Overall the company is very diverse but they have created a very toxic and polarizing environment. If you are connected to the founding family then you will do well. They promote and advance family and friends first and foremost and try to hide it by posting positions for show when they’ve already decided who they’re going to promote. The pay is good but don’t expect raises. Once you’re in a position they don’t raise your salary unless again, you happen to be one of the favored and connected. They strongly believe in overworking you and the turnover is high so they will use you to help train the constant flow of new people. You can train other people, just don’t expect to be rewarded for it. I started with a decent salary and in spite of having excellent reviews, have not received a raise in over 3 years.

Management  shows too much favoritism,  gets rid  of good workers and keeps lazy workers, unfair  treatment  to employees.

Not knowing if you are going to be let go next

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Micro managed, don't want you talking to other employees 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful,  trying to make sure you bill enough not spend to much time on one thing, make sure you are not away from you desk too long or talking to coworkers even if your asking about something you are doing and need assistance,  when staff quit, they want you to take over extra duties without increasing  your pay, they give Christmas  bonuses  to select people, raises are also given to select people.

I found that UPCIC is a good place to work. The benefits are excellent.
I decided to go out on my own and give it as try as an independent adjuster.

I no longer need benefits, so it seemed like a good idea at the time.
The proximity of the company to my house is good. I am willing to learn, and prove myself as a very valuable employee. I am capable of working on my own or with a large group. At Universal, there are a lot of employees that are willing to assist you if needed. I did not have similar days as I handled different claims to conclusion. Some days I was totally in the field. Other days I was in the office doing reports and making calls. Management taught me to work in this type of environment. I enjoyed communicating and learning from my co-workers.

Universal was once a great place to practice law--but starting last summer there is a steady decline in the quality of life there. There has been massive turn over and layoffs. It is a hyper stressful environment. Universal has a ridged top down management approach that is suffocating at times. 

There were never any pay raises in the four years I worked there. Universal often gave out dry promotions without your consent. Universal also assumes you need to be a good trial attorney to be a good manager and this is not true. 

However, it is a excellent place for workplace diversity. That is the only place where Universal shines. Otherwise, avoid if you can. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Terrible place to work. They will assign you more cases than you can imagine no matter what your level of prior experience and you won’t have the support from supervising attorneys at all.  Good pay, but terrible pace.  Would not recommend this job to anyone who values their mental health. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being assigned too many cases and trial cases without any guidance. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Isolating and show boating. Nothing special. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working 10-12 hour days and still dealing with an avalanche of other work as well. It was never enough.

Employees are micromanaged with everything they do (how often you use the bathroom, ability to clock in early or clock out late, strict lunch hours, etc..). Management is very unprofessional and lack good communication between supervisors and entry-level employees. 

I would highly recommend not working for this company if it's in the finance department. The bosses play favoritism with employees that have seniority, even if an employee is in the wrong. There is little to no room for growth, and you will be stuck in an operational role for 1-2 years before seeing any potential for movement in the company.

This company is all about obey and metrics, ideas are not welcome here, Pay is decent, If you work in ECC you will die on the phones, they will say you can move any time but they will not transfer you until you have at least 4 years, most ppl quit this job in the first year.  Training is non existent or irrelevant, nothing they "teach" you is related with your actual job.  There is no parking at campus so you have to take a 25 min shuttle from parking to campus and if you are late will count against you.  Lunch Area is for 16 ppl but there are like 250 person's at the building
