USANA Health Sciences

The position I had was hamfisted together and managed by people that didn't really understand it and didn't care to make the changes so it could work out. They wanted me to succeed but would not provide the training necessary to see that happen. The position had previously only been something they would internally promote someone into, so when they hired me as an outsider, their expectations set the bar too high for me to reach, and I think this is the main reason for why I didn't work out in this position. They clearly over-estimated what hiring an outsider would be like inside their company, and more than that, they didn't have a structure for training to help me feel comfortable in the position within this industry. At least, in regards to the position I worked.

But the benefits are unmatched. Company outings to their amphitheater, Lagoon, etc., the memories I had at those places will live with me forever. Not to mention their cafeteria had some of the best food I've ever had, plus, they have their on-site mental health clinic that offers monthly chiropractic massages... it's almost scary how good they can treat their employees. Blew me away, and still blows me away. If I could work in a different position, I would return to USANA in an instant.

The benefits are so good in fact, that I kept working even though it made me more mentally unstable than I have ever been in my life. Don't be like me though! If you're miserable just quit! I tried working with management to get my position into a workable state but it was clear that would never happen, and I just kept working there anyways. Management, and the internal structure are in DIRE need of restructuring, more so beyond any words I could type into this review, but the issue is that they've been the way that they've been for so long, that I think it will never change. Other than those things, it really is a wonder of a place to work at.

My experience at USANA Health Sciences started on a very positive note. I joined during a time when the company culture felt collaborative, people genuinely cared, and there was a strong sense of shared purpose around growth and customer impact. The teams I worked with were talented, and meaningful conversations drove real progress.

However, things shifted significantly after COVID. Leadership changes brought a noticeable decline in management quality and team dynamics. In my experience, many managers lacked fundamental leadership skills, particularly in communication, listening, and supporting their teams. Out of multiple managers I worked with, only one demonstrated what I would consider strong, effective leadership. The rest often struggled to provide direction or develop clear strategies, leading to frustration and misalignment.

One of the most challenging aspects was the feeling that underperformance at the leadership level was tolerated, which made it difficult for teams to succeed. Additionally, there appeared to be a lack of inclusivity at higher levels, with leadership circles feeling closed off and not always representative — something that can be especially discouraging for women in the organization.

Because of these experiences, I would advise potential employees to carefully evaluate team structure and leadership before joining. The experience can vary greatly depending on who you report to and your level of support within the organization. If you are a "dude", you might like it and fit in.

A typical day at work is anything but typical. As the Wellness Coordinator I try to get the necessary chores of the day (laundry, organization, and biometric screenings) done first thing so that I can be as available as possible to a company of 600+ employees. On any given day I can be needed to personally train, teach classes (fitness/cpr and first aid), meet with marketing and creative to innovate new ideas for the company and wellness center.
I feel management provides the necessary direction an employee needs while encouraging me to be creative. They allow me to really own my projects which has tripled the usage numbers of the facility.
I am lucky to work for a company who values its employees so much and wants to provide so many different opportunities to be better at their job as well as to live the best life possible.
The hardest part of the job is the adaptance it requires. At any given time I can be expected to work with the CEO and then the next moment with people on the opposite end of the spectrum. I can also be expected to go from teaching a restorative yoga class to presenting in the quarterly meetings. I must be able to shift gears at the drop of a dime. I'd say the hardest part of the job is also what makes it so enjoyable. I love the variety my job offers while at the same time feeling very secure and having a very clear vision of what my role in this company is.

USANA Health Sciences was a great place to work for myself, however there were some things that caused problems for coworkers and lowered the overall moral at the company. USANA had put several things into place that stunted the growth of its employees, not intentionally mind you, but simply to try to make things a more equal and fair environment. They had put a promotion cap on income of 10%. Without the CEO's approval, no one could gain more than that 10% for a promotion, which is fine with moving from a technician level 1 to a technician level 2, but creates serious problems when moving from a over skilled packaging technician to a graphics designer. The culture has also changed at USANA. It used to be that you had to get hired into a lower position and then find a job opening for promotion, due to the "promote from within" attitude that the company took. Now due to the overwhelming number of people looking for jobs, USANA hires more externally than internally. There are still promotions, but they are fewer and further in between. If you get hired into a position, plan on being stuck there for a while.

Unusual training set up where they want you to "learn at your own pace" but then, the trainer holds you back by pointing out your mistakes one by one but one at a time; demonstrating very poor attention to detail. It is time consuming, frustrating and not progressing.
They do not have a cafeteria where you can pay for your food; instead you sign a sheet, write down what you took, the price, when you took and then  payroll subtract from your paycheck  plus state and, I am guessing, federal taxes because there were two charged taxes. So if you spent $13 dollars, you end it up with a $21 dollar charge to your paycheck. Same applies to their employee discount products. You think you are getting a deal because you get an allowance but then you pay an absurd amount of taxes.
Another thing is their "giving back to the community." If you do not give a monthly contribution discounted from your paycheck to their program; you will have to fill bags of food for them once a month.
Outdated methodology and SOPs. No investment on software optimization; they still rely on spreadsheets. 


USANA is a welcoming and phenomenal company to work for, they truly care about you and your well being. They provide an on-site clinic, gym, food court and more! The community here is not just your coworkers they are family! In my experience as a Quality Control Technician at USANA my managers cared for me and some tough personal situations I had to go through in my personal life, coming into work was less of a chore and more of a release from the real world outside of work. I loved every moment working at USANA, benefits and all! If you are willing to show you can work hard and work well under some stressful situations here and there you will be treated like family. Working in the Quality department taught me risk assessment, how to communicate under high stress situations, high attention to fine details as well as working confident in a team and on my own, the list can go on and on. USANA is a great company with great benefits and great people!

This is the most toxic workplace I have ever been a part of. First, nepotism is rampant here. Positions are created out of thin air for family members. When that isn’t enough they will push out employees to make room for friends and family. The frustrating part is that HR is fully aware and could care less. The overall culture here is one of extreme discrimination. Over qualified women have been passed over for promotion for under qualified men. Experienced and well-educated people of color are paid less than their white coworkers with less education and experience. To put it bluntly, if you are not of a certain demographic then you can expect to be under paid and under valued. Outside of that, R&D is a department full of poor communication, harmful work politics, awful leadership, gossipy environment, and inappropriate relationships between directors and managers. 

A typical day as an entrepreneur for USANA is rather laid back, if not giving presentations to prospects. Its a person to person or word of mouth type of job.

What I've learned so far is that USANA is one of the top Health Food Supplements company out there with various awards, such as the Einstein Award. That we deteriorate without the proper nutrition or vitamins to keep us healthy.

Co-workers are friendly no matter where you are. Entrepreneur to Entrepreneur relationships are with a helping hand to one another.

The hardest part of networking is to find prospects. People who you think are interested in our product line.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the compensation plan. Work at home or not type of environment. Its the feeling of having your own business that you can have something to fall back to.

Its a home based business where you work as hard as you want and get paid as much as you want on your own time.
I learned to problem solve, handle data entry, presentations, deal with customers, handle large amounts of money, hosting events.. etc..
The management is awesome, they are always trying to help you get the most out of everything.
You chose the people you work with and its amazing, I love working with my friends and meeting new people to work with as well. The hardest part of the job is closing a sell, since I do not like being a sells person because I believe a sells person is someone that sells you on something you don't need. I'm more of a consumer and I share it. I love all the events that are hosted as far as training, parties, little get together's, especially the conventions out in Utah.

It was a great place to work at until they decided to hire someone incompetent and disrespectful  to restructure Quality Control who has never worked in quality before. So many loyal coworkers were let go in just one day. Management only cares about pleasing their bosses and cutting people out instead of building constructive and trusting relationships with their employees. It’s hard to trust anyone even when you're an advocate of a healthy work environment and are anti-bullying/disrespect. Don’t share anything personal to anyone. Just keep your head down and work. They don’t care.
