The gist of this review is this: You have no guaranteed pay. Have to pay to use the system for leads which tend to be aged. Some questionable practices. Tend to work long hours. It takes a long time to make the money you want if you’re not stellar. (Read below for more detail)

Worked for the company for quite a few months. Your experience may depend on what division (location) you’re in but I’m going to give a breakdown of all the aspects of the job. 

Interview: Personally there was 2 rounds of interviews for the division I signed onto. First round was more of a slideshow stating what the company is. What they do, how much money you could make etc. From what I recall you were told there’s commission but we’re not strictly told it is commission ONLY. There is huge potential to make a great living. But it’s hard. Second interview was pretty standard compared to other jobs. Questions about yourself, work history, things of that nature. Upon properly given an offer for employment you must get licensed. Take a course, take a test. Get licensed. They do not pay for it but that’s not an issue. Not all companies pay for licensing. 

Orientation: First day working with the company was some paperwork and basic presentations of the product. You’re a 1099 contractor. So technically you’re running your own business. You’re asked to bring your own computer as they do not provide you with one. Again not a huge issue. Walking into the office and staff was friendly and the environment was clean. After some general explanations of product you’re given the info to download the software and are given a headset to get comfortable with talking to people. The system they use is paid. You must pay to use this system and get the leads provided to you. This also gives you access to a phone number so you’re not using your cell.

Leads: You’re told the leads are good and some are. But many are people who are getting called by companies all day everyday. And some leads haven’t inquired about any similar product in months if not years. Sometimes the information is plain wrong but that doesn’t really fall on the company. Just whoever put the information out there. More often than not you’ll probably be hung up on, cussed out or told to put on a DNC list. Some people are genuinely interested and of course that’s great but it takes a lot of calls to get the proper clients. 

Daily work: You’re  expected to come in from at least 9a-5p. Standard. No issue there. You’ll soon realize that most people stay late. Sometimes working up to 12 hours a day or late night for appointments. Obviously if you set the appointment you made the time designation but it’s good to note. You boot up the systems in your computer and start dialing. On a good day with a lot of good leads and conversations you’ll make a couple hundred calls. On bad days where hardly anyone answers or you’re given hard no’s I’ve seen some people make 800+ calls. It can be extremely daunting. You have goals you want to meet. You have to really grind it out at the start. Obviously not everyone is perfect so you’ll get better over time. 

Coworkers/management: Overall everyone I met there was very nice on a personal level. Many people close to my age but there’s enough variety. It’s easy to make friends. Management seemed to care about properly training and giving you pointers. But personally that stopped after a couple weeks. There’s weekly webinars that have training but it felt like management quickly gave up on trying to train new agents to the best of their ability. I have no ill will towards anyone I worked with. I just felt management could have been much more clear during the hiring process and after becoming contracted. They’re good people, but not the best managers. 

The sale: the sale is all about your pitch. Obviously you have to comply with state regulated standards but everyone has their own little spin on what they say to make it work. You’re told exactly what you cannot say as to not fall into legal trouble. Which is good. Sometimes there’s some questionable tactics used but that’s not something I cannot elaborate on here. 

Pay: I mentioned earlier there is no guaranteed pay. You are commission only so your check is based on your production. Top agents do very well. And make great money. But I’ve seen a lot of people come and go because either they couldn’t sell well enough or they weren’t making what they thought they would. There is huge potential here. But many will not come close to that. 

Time off: The office I was at was very lax with time off. Obviously it’s not paid but if you needed to come in late or leave early so long as you communicated that it was no issue. Same with taking days off or vacations. Easy enough to voice what days you can’t come and you’re good to go. 

Overall: I felt the interview process was deceptive. The company states you have unlimited free leads but since you have to pay monthly for the software the leads are in I would hardly count it as free. If you want to make money be prepared for long hours and a lot of stress. The people were great and I honestly enjoyed my time with coworkers and being in the office. It’s just the actual doing the job part that was not fulfilling. There is a lot of potential here to make good money but that comes at the cost of your time. A lot of agents come in and leave a week later due to them feeling like they’ve been deceived. 

Keep all I’ve said in mind. This job CAN work out. But it’s also possible you’ll fail. People were nice. But the way it was run left a lot to be desired. There is a ton of changes that would benefit both the client and the agent. 

Lots to say. The immediate field agents are great people who put a lot of effort into trying to help the trainers and leaders keep up morale, however higher ups and trainers are awful. If you can't meet their weekly sales goals set for you despite working 50+hour weeks they assume you're not working at all. The expectation is you give up the first year of your life to devote 24/7 to the job but still say family matters. Leadership will call or email at early and late hours and expect you are working. They say they give leads but most are false numbers or disconnected or the old leads are close to 7-10 years expired. They insist you harass each lead a minimum of 3 times per day every day and want you to make 500 or more per day. Might be different in other states. Recommend asking to speak to multiple employees. Not just the most successful ones, but new ones too. They won't like the request but it gives you a real and honest idea of what to expect. They say on the initial call about the company that you can make 100k but don't tell you how difficult it is to get one person to buy. They don't tell you the insurance isn't really insurance but a money loaning program and most people in America don't quality unless they're in their 20s and have never been hospitalized. They try to hire young kids who don't know better or older people who were salesmen in their glory days. Reiterating the cons listed. No balance and expectation is you give up all of your interests and don't see friends but they say you should spend time with family. Most people selling don't qualify for coverage the insurance you are selling is only for the healthiest and youngest people and everybody who is interested doesn't qualify because of their medical history, there's a lack of appropriate training, leaders look down on anybody who doesn't make a sale every week and guilts them into working nights and weekends just to make ends meet, leadership insists they care but really they care about you if you're a consistent producer - otherwise you're a waste of time, expects you to put out hundreds of dollars every month to pay for their programs and leads but they get you hooked by saying this is your own business and that you can run it how you like and that leads are free. No lead is free. They say that they will compensate you if you pass your license test but they don't. Leaders talk down about people who are medically not qualified but they themselves don't qualify for it either so they're just hypocritical, money hungry smooth talkers. If you question their methods they will gaslight you and make you think you're wrong. Trainer expects you to make calls without appropriate script so you are wasting potential client's time. They never actually put leads on a do not call list so agents are all harassing leads hundreds of times including those with wrong numbers or discontinued numbers.

One good thing I have to say about working here is that you definitely learn a lot about the insurance industry, and the culture isn't like your typical corporate setting where you are micromanaged on every little thing. 

THAT BEING SAID, there are a lot of negatives that come with this job. First off, it's commission only and no benefits, so you can work 6-7 days a week, 12 hours a day MINIMUM, and still finish out the week without a paycheck. The company does provide leads of their own and does reward you with lead money from time to time so you can purchase on your own, but the lead quality more often than not is extremely poor. They expect you to make at least 300 calls a day to these leads, and most of the time, the ones who will give you the time of day (because they are already getting dozens of calls a day by other agents and are understandably quite irate), usually don't qualify for the product due to health, income, or a combination thereof. Obviously, the more contacts you make, the greater the chances you will have, but there are many days where getting in touch with a good candidate for the product who is willing to speak with you is comparable to finding a needle in a haystack and can get extremely frustrating.

It is also extremely expensive to work here. Just to get in the door, you need to pay hundreds of dollars for licensing course/exam, appointment fees, background check, etc. But even after the fact, it costs around $250 per month just to stay enrolled in the CRM software and for your office pack. They do feed you several days a week and, like I stated before, provide lead money from time to time, but if you aren't making a lot of money, that can be a very big ask. The people who are successful there spend an exorbitant amount of money for their leads, whether it be through a lead vender or self generating. But for people who don't start out with a healthy savings account, it's not very realistic to shell out hundreds if not thousands of dollars weekly just to fatten up your pipeline.

In order to make this career work, you need a healthy amount of money saved up to where you can foot the bill just to be there, and support yourself for several weeks if you have a week or so full of duds. You also need to be prepared to sacrifice close to any and all free time to be in the office and build up your pipeline (I was literally told by leadership at the beginning of OE to say bye to my loved ones and let them know I'll see them in a couple of months) Can you work less than 6-7 days a week/12 hours a day? Sure. But this is extremely frowned upon by leadership and may come back to bite you. This opportunity can either make you extremely successful financially, or cripple you financially, with not much in-between.


PLEASE READ AND RUN!!!!!! DO NOT work here. My experience was not bad, in the sense that I got paid from week 1 and was able to sell at least one policy every single week during the time I was there. However, during meetings you can hear managers laugh about how everything in the pitch is a lie, starting from the "discount" they offer to not explaining how their catastrophic part of their plan works (which goes up double in premium if activated). They trick customers into thinking that they would not qualify for a subsidy in the marketplace so you can sell them their plan (and laugh about it). They lie to customers EVERY single day telling them they offer a "full medical" plan with a $3000 max out of pocket, which it's NOT TRUE. They want to teach you how to pass clients that would not qualify for underwriting by lying about their conditions or medications. They don't tell you at the beginning, but if you don't buy at least $600/week in leads, you won't make any money. You have to pay $100 for their software and that's without counting the money you have to pay THEM to contract you ($93+licensing which is expected and other paperwork). You have to pay for your cubicle ($150/month). They tell you that your schedule is flexible, but you NEED to work from 8AM to AT LEAST 8PM, including weekends, if not they call you "part time" or say you don't work hard enough. People take ADHD medication ALL THE TIME in order to keep up (if you show any signs of being tired they will suggest going on medication), and you can even see people buying pills from each other and hear the sound of pills every day. They tell you if you leave the company you will get paid your remaining commissions, well...NOT TRUE, another lie (confirmed by the main office in Texas after I left). The money you get in advances is a "LOAN" from the company and you will be charge interest every single month, you also have to pay for your E&O insurance, which they don't tell you and just take it out of your commissions. At the beginning you are not appointed in every state so you just set up appointments for other agents, it's so bad that managers or other agents pay you 50% commission through Cash app. I could continue but it's already too long, please look other companies, selling insurance is great business and it has the potential to make A LOT of money, but in there you will only sell ONE plan and will have tons of angry customers.

This job is helpful if you’re new to the insurance space and need general guidance , want to learn what it means to fund your own business, and darn will this job teach you GRIT. However, it’s not real insurance and you’re doing your clients a HUGE disservice. (There’s better products out there; even if your leadership tells you there isn’t.)

At the beginning, you’ll be making 300-600 dials a day and you will be here 12hrs a day, 7 days a week. YES you pay out of your pocket for your own LLC, all your state licensing, you pay for your own leads, CRM's, etc. YOU are funding Everything. They even charge you a couple hundred bucks a month to just have a desk at the office. Do not come here with dry pockets. 

Been with the company almost two years and unless you want leadership, please do not make the same mistake I did and stay here this long.

Advances (big checks you see everyone make each week) are your debt to the company. They operate in loaning you money, you get a cancellation and they'll snag it all back with interest. 

Your residuals if you choose to not take an advances is 17% the first year the client is on your books, and then it drops down to 1% at the clients' 1 year renewal.  If you want real residuals, this isn't it unless you qualify for their two year PAR bonus. 
I barely missed it last year and I've come to realize that my million dollars in business I've written would have gone a lot farther working somewhere the residuals are that percentage for LIFE. 

You do NOT own your book of business here until year 5.

Want leadership? Great, they don't make squat considering how much they have to invest into their teams. $$$ They'll cosplay millionaires, but in reality your FSL's are lucky to take home 150-200k after taxes and investments. 

I had 35 people in my start class, and me and 2 others were all that’s left.

Just like any new career, this opportunity created some anxiety in the first couple of weeks. I had a long career in Human Resources as a Director for large corporations and made great compensation in that career path. I spent my whole career taking care of others, working 60+ hours per week, dealing with tons of stress and just getting by. I decided to make a change and take a leap into something new. This company changed my life and the life of my family in so many positive ways. This company rewards you every step of the way for you just doing your job. People are the biggest and most important resource for any company, but here at USHEALTH they treat you like it day in and day out. USHEALTH invests in their team members with tons of training resources, compensation, product development/improvement and so much more. All of our departments are amazing and there to assist at any time. The Leadership team is the best Leadership team I have ever worked for and is always there to support you with what you need. Our CEO leads from the front and is the best in any industry. The relationships you get to build with others is life changing as well. The compensation structure is genius because it is designed to help agents succeed right from the start. Yes, you have to work and do your part, but at the same time that is at any job. Working at USHEALTH is not a job, but a career. Here at USHEALTH it is fun everyday coming into the office and you can work 10 hours and not even know it. The best part of all is helping so many people who need us. I get to change lives every day and what better feeling is there than knowing how you helped that individual or family....it truly means everything to USHEALTH! I don't even want to think about if I had never made the leap to this company! It changes my life every day and it can change yours....trust me!

This job was presented as such a beautiful opportunity to make money while helping other people every day. Although you can do both, the office I worked at only cared about their favorite producers. We are given attention when we start off but essentially are left to fend for ourselves. We are told this is our own business and we are free to come and go out the office as we please (as long as we produce, of course) however there were always negative remarks from management when someone decided to come in after 8a or leave before 6p. Hours are strenuous, lot of squeeze for little juice. We have to pay for our own CRM, buy states to sell in, AND pay money for calling minutes. High emphasis is placed on agent hitting goals during 1st 13 weeks however little support from management throughout. 

Lots of cold calling. I was told on interview we would be getting good leads, but the leaders who have been there long term primarily get the good leads while the others sift through old ones. Then when we aren't producing, they tell us to make more cold calls. Great. 

I stayed so long for the potential in the opportunity and the people I worked with, but ended up ruining my finances in the process. One or two good weeks here will give you hope that you can make it, only to find yourself in the same position next week. I don't like that your success depends on if the management likes you enough. The job was oversold in the interview so it set my expectations high. Wanted to change offices because I'm sure other locations may be better, but cannot picture myself in the same situation trying to make this work while I drown in my finances. If you have a book of business to come into this business with, then don't shy away because there is potential in the opportunity. If not, be prepared for an uphill battle.

Okay so here is an honest opinion when working at USHA. I worked there from 2018-2020 and was absolutely amazed at the opportunity that it was, with that being said, it came down to a time where I no longer wanted to be in that type of sales anymore, which is why I ended up leaving, among other things of course. But overall I absolutely loved working for USHA. 

I started in the Tampa, FL office, then moved to the Vegas office. Now people will be biased based on the office that they worked in and under what management they were with, but I was always with people who had the same mentality: to win and to make money. So, that’s what we did. The only downfall I have with the opportunity is I wasn’t fully aware on how to advance, there was no set structure and sometimes I was lead to believe that advancing wasn’t even something I should want. Turns out, it’s everything in the company, I was just mislead by my mentor and friend. 
If you’re on the fence, I’d say jump right into it, test it out. But if you’re going to do something, make sure you do it at 100%, otherwise you won’t even remotely enjoy yourself while making that much money week in and week out. 

Trust yourself to get the work done and trust yourself that you know what’s best for you, for your peers, and especially for the client. The opportunity does consist of calling, but that’s what sales is, that’s what should drive you, finding out where your next play is, it’s exciting! It could be this phone call, or this phone call, either way that has to excite you otherwise it’s like you’re doing chores everyday.

 If you are fortunate enough to get into a good office like I was, I highly highly recommend this opportunity. The money is there, just put the work in.

This is a fantastic place to work! I started here about 1.5 years ago, and yea, I was excited and hopeful, but also skeptical. I'm glad that I didn't allow my skepticism to make my decision for me before giving this a chance.

I have learned so much about myself and others, and have been able to take this opportunity to grow and expand my skills. I have met some of the most amazing people, and know that I have an incredible extended family that I can work with, and continue to grow and have fun with.

Not everyone will survive at this profession. Not everyone is cutout to be self-employed, and make no mistake, this is a business, and it IS YOUR responsibility to make it what you want it to be. If you tell yourself you can't do it, you're right. This is a commission only, 1099 independent contractor relationship. There is amazing training, motivation, support, and fun in this office. Everyone here wants to see each new agent be successful - however, if you aren't willing to invest in yourself and work extremely hard to achieve your goals, then don't expect anyone else to either. Help is here for those who are first willing to help themselves.

This is a career and lifestyle choice, it's not a job. If you're looking for a job, look elsewhere. But if you're looking to really change your life, expand your horizons, help people on a daily basis, and be rewarded in every way for that hard work - then this might be the place and opportunity for you!

Ultimately, what it comes down to, is that I made the right choice when I contracted with USHealth, and I have no intention of looking back - it's only forward from here.

So I was suckered into this being promised 6 figure income, and "lead generated."
After starting, you basically have to invest at least $200, just to get "contracted" and pay for your own SalesForce based software (which you are paying monthly nearly $100)...so that amount right off the jump. Once you finally get into the system, they give you a script within the first day and want you dialing 400 people a day. The leads are a joke. They are not company generated leads...they are leads that have been purchased from various "lead" source companies that have not been vetted whatsoever. So you are basically weeding out the bad apples for them, for no pay since this is a 1099 job. 
Once you get a decent person on the phone you are to transfer them to one of your field agents to try to get a quote. To maybe get them interested in buying health insurance. Good luck with that because you are cold calling people out of the blue who do not want to be bothered.
Understandably, you cannot market yourself until you complete all their certifications on products...but there is at least 30 of them and they are long. So you are basically working for free weeding out their "lead" lists.
They say, "oh this is your business, you have flexibility to work at your own hours." BS. They want you on all these Zoom calls starting early at 8 a.m. and again an hour later, late in the evening, and Saturday mornings. It's stated in their manual they want you working no less than 50 hours a week at least. So forget your weekends.
If you like cold calling, then this may the job for you. These leads aren't even remotely warm. 
If you like sales that actually have real incoming leads on products people want, stay away. Also, if you don't want to invest a ton of money for a job, stay away. You will be losing money.
