I was new to management when I began working for Ultimate.  I have always felt supported and heard by my manager and fellow teammates.  I love that our CEO is so involved and approachable.  I have been given the opportunity to be creative and completely involved in the growth of our company.  Sure, we have experienced a few growth pains as we embarked on our expansion, but the leadership at this company has ALWAYS been open to constructive feedback and gets better every single day.  We have built our sales teams around the expectations of ethical, fair, and respectful behavior.  That is huge for me.  There is so much opportunity for growth.  I have been able to personally promote five employees in the last two years and have watched countless others be awarded promotions in other territories. I left a large corporation to work for a company like Ultimate in 2015 and when that company sold a few years later I left it in hopes of finding a company just like this!  A company where the "big wigs" are involved and accessible to all employees, where you're a valued employee not a number on a long roster, where I could be involved and invested, and where I could eventually grow with the company.  I am thankful that through the pandemic, natural disasters, stressful elections, and other factors that tend to affect Medicare sales, this company has been so adaptive and fair with sales expectations, often adjusting quotas and pay to fit the current climate.  This has set my agents up for less negative pressure and higher success.  They only ask you to do your best, be coachable, and put in the time.  If you do that you have a very bright future and great compensation.  I am incredibly happy with my experience on the Sales Team at Ultimate Health.

Working as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) at Ultimate Health Plans has been an incredible experience. This role has given me the opportunity to truly make a positive impact on people's lives, and it's been an absolute pleasure.

Working with Ultimate in the beginning was great and learned a lot on the opposite end of what I was doing prior to this company and it had also given me a lot more respect of an insurance company where prior I was the provider.  Doing what I was doing from Sept. to Nov. was exciting.  Then I was asked to go into a different department that I had no experience in and was trained on somethings, to get me comfortable and to understand what I would be doing, but then it was totally picked apart and new management came in and wanted done their way, which I can respect.   Training was the hardest because the COVID-19 hit and we were at home, so training was not done to the fullest.  The people there are very supportive with each other and I hope they go very far in success as a company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Local pay was ok for location.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poor management. Managers are not skilled in all aspects of their jobs.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible. You always felt like nothing was good enough and had to defend your knowledge. The animosity between departments was a "____-show". The culture was not good. Not a happy environment, knowing you spend more time there than with family and friends. If you like to not be social with anyone then work here.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long days, overtime and overworked.

While their product is excellent and there are many wonderful people here, it is not well-managed. It is not unusual to be called out in a meeting and yelled at etc. From my viewpoint, they make really bad decisions.
Another issue almost no marketing is done: a mailer here or there and seminars during AEP. They do pay for events like fairs and conferences, but this is a tough way to get viable leads.
Across the company they are on the low side of pay, but for salespeople the commission that's on top of a base salary is fairly good. 

As a nurse for more than thirty years, I have never met such rude supervisors. The RN team was very nice and understanding of a new employee. Both managers expected way too much for the learning curve. I was taught one way with the nursing staff and then another way with a contracted rude witch. Nothing I could do was correct. I should have gone with my gut, as I knew this lady would be rude and non-understanding. Run away fast. I've never made a review before.

The way they pay the commission. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They don’t invest in marketing or advertising. People don’t know the company.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone working alone and not team work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Looking for sale and site to do events. No community outreach. Company closed all outreach positions.

This company expects more and more and more from its sales team. The pressure to meet goals are extremely high and they are not understandable when you don’t meet the goal for the month. Even if you are new and putting in your best efforts, they will write you up and threaten you with termination if you don’t meet goal. Salary is okay. Commissions are great, though it is hard to make sales depending on where you are working.

As a sales agent, I found management to be consistently helpful and supportive. The provider relations department was fantastic in assisting with any issues my members encountered, making problem resolution easy. The only drawback is the limited availability of company-provided leads, as most leads need to be self-generated. However, the company provides the some tools to succeed in this area, so I wouldn’t consider it a major downside.

The leadership team is one of the best parts of working at Ultimate Health Plan!!

Meeting all of the needs for the members

Remote. Family/work balance is important to everyone.
