A typical work day would be you starting out what you were hired on to do but then completing tasks of others that would consist of three different people. I learned to multitask even better but kit for the best reasons. Management was very bad and would back questions as to what to do and once I answered they would tell me “I was unprofessional and rude.” Very confusing and would not care about any problems or even speak with clients parents…which was a managers duty. They would have the employees do it. Also they will fire you or let you go out of no where even after you stay over two hours after your scheduled shift to fix issues of others. I do NOT recommend working here unless you like to be talked down to and to do the job of others and also do things OUT of your job description with out a pay raise. They didn’t give a warning or let me finish out for a full pay check even though they had me stay over my scheduled hours to complete something they needed finished. Then had the audacity to ask me if I asked for overtime (which was already approved the morning of) 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with SOME great people. Excellent Director, Providers, Health service techs, nurses

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not being heard by direct supervisor, no proper training on your actual job by direct supervisor in my case. No communication, under staffed on overnight shift. No accountability for poor management atleast in my case which combined gave me no choice but to resign. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful, thankless, almost hostile atleast in one area. Some people are bullies that care nothing for their employees. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful, I dreaded going every day after I learned that my direct supervisor was a bully who acts nice at first then shows their true colors. Will walk away from you in mid sentence which is beyond disrespectful and cares more about their personal goals and outside activities than they do to train their employees.

It is a stressful work place where you don't feel that you are truly appreciated for the work that you preform on daily basic. On a average work day I write our checks for clients on ever Tuesday. Mondays I go over all that has happened during the weekend with the clients and staff. I have to reschedule staff when someone calls out to go and work with a client. I am on call 2 or 3 weekends out of the month for all call outs and any other mishap that may happen. I work on computer and phones as needed to assist aides so that they can do required documentation.

After the change in CEO, the environment became incredibly stressful, the management became unethical and excessively punitive, and many excellent clinicians were driven to resign, terminated, or laid off for the sake of finances, particularly after Unison began expanding. Management and HR proved to be unhelpful at best when I had concerns, and ultimately I resigned because I went home crying every day and couldn't take the undue stress anymore. 

A lot of clients receive great services here and a lot of the clinicians care deeply about them and go above and beyond for them. It's generally a great place if you're a client, but not if you're an employee. 

But hey, they give you movie tickets for your birthday.

Ethical practices,  Resources,  great representation,  Teamwork,  respectful of everyone's position 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Caseload numbers. Experience Case Managers not having more the opportunity to facilitate specific groups. Ceiling too low. They should have more Managers to govern over Case Managers

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pleasant, polite and respectful. It could use more security. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Productive. Positive Intertraction with both clints and co- workers.

Once management makes it to the administrative suite, no matter how good a clinician they once were, there is an overwhelming production, production, production mentality.  The culture cares less about the employees than the consumers and only minimally about the consumers.  There is pervasive turnover is nursing and clinical positions. Concerns addressed to management are met with an empathetic ear, but no changes are made.  Consumers and families get lost in the shuffle. Employees get frustrated and move on to greener pastures.

Overall the employees are friendly but if you have a problem with something there really isn't anyone that you can confide in that can help you. It isn't very organized. It is very stressful and the pay is poor for the amount of work you are expected to do. The expectations are unrealistic and because of this corners are cut. The training was poor.
There was no clearly defined job description. No room for advancement. Lack of teamwork.

A typical day at work is putting you behind on your nursing duties due to putting out fires that are limited to your pay grade. I learned a lot about mental health, SUD, and tons of leadership opportunities as I was a supervisor. Management is terrible, accusatory and traumatized me. You're expected to due things that could jeopardize your license. No direct RN supervision at all after 4 years of committed service. Management has no healthcare experience only SUD counseling, no training provided on protocols. 

It’s not the worst job out there. The managers are ridiculous and the patient population is difficult. If you enjoy mental health and detox it’s an ok job. Contingent pay is great, but hours are scarce. Regular staff say the pay is awful. The benefits from what I saw are not very good. They aren’t expensive, but the coverage is poor. There is little to no room for upward mobility and the manager isn’t a nurse so it gets weird having a social worker tell you how to do nursing work.

Promotion, compensation and respect were lacking at Unison. Disrespect, lack of loyalty and back biting, gossip and the culture of low pay unless your a director, but the main work force has low moral and a total lack of incentives or across the board pay and compensation when compared to other mental health agencies are way below the current pay scale in Toledo.  Total lack of compassion and care for clients ! More concern is put into grants and awards instead of staff and clients.
