I worked there for more than 3 years with a record of perfect attendance, which was unrewarded along with No raise, and no appreciation. Met some great people & enjoyed taking care of my residents. Paid time off accrued often which was nice. Shift difference. Consistent Schedule as a full-timer but if your part-time be prepared to get called in on your days off often. The best part was no Mandation but required to work Every other weekend & every other holiday. (Free meal on holiday to work) Benefits were nice but dental Insurance did not cover much. Compensation was not high enough for this type of work. 
Drama & lack of communication was a problem. Management has "Favorites" & talked about others behind their backs including asking others opinions on whether to hire specific people or not. Was constantly short-staffed and having to pick up the extra workload due to slackers calling out (Which got away with it). Many times stuck with residents that needed a higher level of care. Management did not help & could have cared less about the ones who stayed, was fulltime, and dedicated years to the company. Anyone who works here needs to keep an eye out on their paystubs and make sure your getting paid for all hours, there was a time I was not paid for a whole 8 hours of my time & only noticed because of my shortage in my paycheck. (It was corrected after speaking with management)
I did learn alot in the healthcare field working here and enjoyed taking care of my residents but No incentives & lack of appreciation through management and the overall company led me to leave.

UHS idealizes caring for their employees when it is farthest from the truth. They've let go of multiple staff throughout the years who haven't deserved it, because they are just a number to them. All that matters is reviews, and staffing numbers for nurses and aides. They will run you until your body can't take anymore, and then fire you for having medical needs yourself. It's a shame to see how much care and purpose we put into our positions just to be treated badly for wanting to take care of our own health. UHS also takes money from people. They offer critical shifts for extra pay, but if you or your child end up sick later in the week, or following week, or even injuried you will have that stripped from you. It's more of a click bait situation. They would rather you lose your career versus helping you create it. The staff nurses and aides are (for the most part, everywhere has a bad apple) are phenomenal. The managers on the floors are horrible and also only care about numbers, not their employees. I've witnessed many aides and nurses have mental break downs and return to the floor like it is normal, due to managers and the way those floors are. Wouldn't recommend due to lack of care for employees and their families, lack of good management, and lack of pay (due to them taking money from you if some unforeseeable happens).

You don't want to work for UHS. They don't care about their employees. Pay should be based on experience and quality of work. Not because you need people to fill a spot so let us entice them with a decent starting wage. The Outpatient Lab has many flaws. Supervisor doesn't do her job. She is biased as she and a co-worker are friends. That co-worker is a constant drama starter. When she is brought up with wrong doings supervisor gets defensive. When someone else is involved she promises to fix it. If the employee goes to her about something it is handled instantly doesn't matter if it is true or not. Concerns or problems are not taken seriously. You are not appreciated. You are forced to do things you don't want to do. Supervisor throws a temper tantrum and will get mad if you don't do her favors such as take extra on call even after you have 6 days or more. The job is very demanding. They lie to possible candidates to get them in the door. High turn over rate when people realize it isn't what was said. Many long time employees are leaving or have left due to the supervisor and employee. If you are into little kid drama, and lies this is the place to be. If you want an adult job do not come here. I can not stress enough how much of headache the Outpatient Lab is. It honestly is not worth it.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The ONLY rewarding part of working here is the bond you build with your established/regular patients and the feeling of being able to help those patients navigate their medical care. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You will be overworked and underpaid. It’s not a possibility, that’s a guarantee. You will end up taking on the workload of others and doing much more than what you signed up for. You’ll even be tasked with things that are completely out of your scope of practice! You can work yourself into the ground and give your absolute all to this company and they will still see you as disposable and replaceable. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Demeaning. Overwhelming. Overstimulating. Unbearable. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Simply miserable. Our office is toxic, understaffed, full of drama, and falling apart. Management plays a huge part in that toxicity and drama. Walking through the doors each morning is the most dreaded part of my day, and the highlight of the day is always walking out at the end of the shift.

A semi-retired former executive and manager with a radiology background, I worked a consecutive 3-day/12 hour shift which I preferred.  The Radiology Assistant position is a basic, entry level, physically demanding job which can be as mundane or interesting as you want to make it; and, occasionally exciting. It's an excellent people oriented, post-retirement job for an able bodied retiree or a HS grad interested in a potential healthcare career, as it exposes you to many areas of potential interest and study.  There's limited opportunity for advancement without further study and/or certification, although that is possible even while working; and, there is opportunity to transfer/change job classification depending on qualifications.  Although there's usually a rotten apple in every bushel, I can't say enough good about most all the people I had the opportunity to work with at UHS.

A typical day as a diet assistant consists of taking patients phone calls and setting up their meals for the day. In between phone calls we receive paper work from doctors and dietitians regarding patients diets and meal plans. 
Over the year I have been employees with UHS I have learned more about nutrition and health.
Our management system is getting better. When I first started working for UHS we employees a food service called Sodexo, where we had wonderful and organized management. In December we signed a new contract with Compass, which created some chaos. Fortunately things are beginning to calm down and management has been great.  
My Co-workers are wonderful, we all get along great and do what we can to help each other. 
The hardest part of the job is learning how to word things. Some patients are on special diets and they are not allowed certain items on the menu.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the atmosphere. UHS is a great place to work and everyone is very helpful and positive.

I worked on an 8 bed Intensive Care Unit at Binghamton General Hospital (BGH). This was my first Registered Nursing job out of college. My orientation could have used some improvements, however I still learned a great deal. I took a critical care course and coronary care course during my 6 month orientation. I learned how to take care of patient's on ventilators, drug overdoses, and so much more. I did not like it when critical patient's were sent to Wilson. BGH has an ICU and shouldn't be treated any less. Many of the doctors would have patient's transported to Wilson because they did not want to come to BGH. 
The hardest part of the job was keeping up with the documentation. I understand how important documentation is, however I feel as if a majority of nursing is spent documenting instead of at the bedside. The most enjoyable part of nursing is the relationships that you build with your fellow employees and most importantly your patient's and their family. Just one true "thank you" makes all those physical and emotional days worth every minute.

I have been with this company for at least 2+ years with various job titles while working twords a spesific title from the beginning. I recently got that title but recive less pay than the previous postion dispite this new postion requiring a college degree and the old postion hiring highschool seniors who haven't graduated yet. I was told by HR the pay rate difference was temporary when making the change, it wasn't. I was then told by them later it's a different pay grade than the old job, I agreed to it, my new postion is easy to fill, and just deal with it dispite showing loyalty to the company for years. Nobody in their right mind would take a pay cut for a postion that had a higher education requirement than the previous one. It doesn't make any sense. This among other instances of patient to staff abuse,  with no intervention from higher ups, truly shows the company doesn't care about their employees as much as the say the do.

My department was extraordinarily busy and had way too few people for the amount of work required even when we were "fully staffed" (rare, given the high turnover rate) which was extremely stressful even if the individual tasks weren't especially difficult on their own. Some tasks had guideline requirements that were impossible to achieve, so we just had to do what we could and hope we didn't get reprimanded. Supervisor was approachable and flexible, but not particularly understanding of our frustrations with the job. Coworkers were absolutely wonderful and the only part of the job that almost made it feel worthwhile. Overall, UHS employs some really great people but pays peanuts for the amount of stress they will put on them.
