🩺 A Typical Day at Work
A day usually starts with triaging: reviewing overnight tickets, checking system alerts, and making sure critical clinical applications are OK
From there, it’s a mix of:
•	Supporting administrators and radiologists who need immediate help
•	Working on longer-term infrastructure or integration projects and attending cross functional meetings with clinical, compliance, and operations teams
•	Testing updates or patches before they hit production
Healthcare IT rarely has a “quiet” day. Something always needs attention, and priorities can shift fast when patient care is involved.
📚 What I Believe I Learned
Working in this environment teaches you a lot – quickly:
•	How to translate between technical language and clinical workflows and learn  how interconnected healthcare systems really are
You also learn that even small changes can have huge downstream effects, so attention to detail becomes second nature.
🧭 Management
Management in healthcare IT tends to be mission driven. They care deeply about patient outcomes given the  competing priorities, budgets, legacy systems that are continiously being modernized while running th eday to day activities and strict regulatory constraints that slow innovation but absolutely have to be met
The managersalways do their best to shield the team from chaos, communicate clearly, and advocate for realistic timelines.
🤝 Workplace Culture
Healthcare IT culture is a blend of:
•	Service mindset  – clinicians rely on you, and you feel that responsibility
•	Collaboration  – you work with everyone from nurses to cybersecurity
•	Controlled urgency  – things move fast, but with caution
•	Purpose  – you know your work directly impacts patient care
It’s not a flashy tech environment, but it’s meaningful, mission oriented, and often surprisingly tight knit.
🧩 The Hardest Part of the Job
Without question: balancing technical needs with clinical realities.
You’re constantly navigating:
•	High expectations with limited resources
•	Legacy systems that can’t be replaced overnight
•	Requests that must be evaluated through compliance and safety lenses
It’s a job where mistakes matter, and that weight can be challenging.
🌟 The Most Enjoyable Part of the Job
The best part is the sense of impact. When you solve a problem that helps a radiologist read faster, or you implement a system that eliminates errors, or you prevent downtime during a critical moment – you feel it.
There’s also something incredibly rewarding about being the bridge between technology and patient care. You’re not at the bedside, but you’re part of the care team in your own way.

A typical day at work would consist of visiting anywhere from 13 to 16 doctors per day that would and would not use our services. For physicians that would use our services we would follow up with doctor and the Referral Coordinator to confirm services are up to par and authorizations are being approved by IPAs and Medical Groups. 

I have gained additional experience with IPAs and HMOs and have developed strong organizational, communication and presentation skills throughout my two year stay with UMIH. 

My co-workers and management are extremely wonderful, helpful and compassionate. They are extremely committed to everything they do and strive to make a better work environment for everyone. 

The hardest part about the job is not being able to work with my managers on a daily basis. Both of my managers maintain 3 sites for our company and it is often difficult to work with them side by side and on a daily basis. Although, I work extremely well on my own I would love to see more of my managers. 

The most enjoyable part about my job is building relationships with the account I maintain, such as; doctors offices and leaders in the IPA/Medical Group we are contracted with. I enjoy working with all levels of individuals and being proactive with them in every way possible.

This is a very horrible, awful company to work for. The upper management 's ineptitude & incompetency is very bold and you could see their lack of knowledge and skills speak very loud. The scale of the favoritism is very vast. Not open to any suggestions and they are very obsolete in terms of adopting a new means or strategy to any advancements. The vast majority of  the managers in this company don't possess a good management skill and their lack of knowledge in terms of management stems from not having any academic background. A very good place to work for those  who are diffident to work in a well structured organization. There is no principle of any sort.Above all, there is no room to grow. If you are looking for a job just to get by , this place would be a perfect fit for you. However, if you are trying to get a job with a better career growth advancement and working with professionals this place would be a wrong one to  work for. The pay is super low. Lat but not least, your voice won't be heard and they exploit you with a barrage of works  to the point that you step forward to quit the job. That's why their turn over is super high. 

Management per branch will vary but for the most part, the employees will agree that their managers are not well trained to be leaders. They will never appraise you for the 10 times you’ve helped out and covered but hold onto the 1 time you inconvenienced them. Most of them are on a power trip and just demand you to rather than asking if you are able to stay late to take a patient who showed up an hour late because a scheduler confirmed their appointment at the wrong time. Teamwork fails here in every department and no one takes responsibility for their mistakes and the techs are the ones left trying to fix a messy situation with unhappy patients waiting far past their appointment times . There’s no organization. They don’t respect life/work balance and will work you like a dog for extremely low pay too. The pay is SO low that BLS doesn’t even report the annual salary you would make working full time at this place. They will hire you as a part-time or per diem employee but staff you as a full-time employee to avoid providing benefits to you. No room for growth here. The raises are a joke as well. Stingy, sleazy, money hungry corrupted people who worry more about dollar signs than patient care. 

My work environment is calm, inclusive, and thoughtfully structured to support focus and collaboration. The atmosphere is generally quiet, which makes it easy to concentrate, reflect, and complete tasks efficiently without unnecessary distractions. People are respectful of one another’s space and working styles, creating a setting where everyone feels comfortable and valued. Inclusion is a clear priority, and different perspectives are welcomed and treated with genuine respect, contributing to a sense of belonging across the team. 

Management plays a key role in maintaining this positive environment. Leaders are approachable, attentive, and consistently willing to offer guidance or clarification when needed. They actively listen to concerns, respond promptly, and take meaningful steps to support both individual and team success. 

The most unproductive company that I have ever worked for. The work environment is pretty poisoned and you see the blatant favoritism there which stems from the ineptitude, lack of management & skills. The vast majority of the managers don't posses the knowledge of what they are in charge. Above all, they don't have any academic background of what they are doing on daily basis. After all, it's a very low pay company. So, if you are looking for a job to look at it as your future career and grow with it , this is a wrong place to work for. However, if you are a lazy person who dislikes principle, rules and structure and interested in a job which doesn't require any creativity , this would be an awesome place to start your employment . To sum it up, do not waste your valuable time working in a unprofessional , family base, rotten and dead end company which does not care for your growth and advancement and never appreciate your effort.  

Job can be fun sometimes if your managers/coworkers like you. Unfortunately some are pretty petty and it just feels like high school. Management refuses to fire people who are incompetent and would rather keep them than people who can actually do their job if they don't like you. Good if you aren't bilingual and need an entry level, and they are very lenient with people who have children. Unfortunately if you don't, you get paid less and also get less leeway. Notoriously understaffed, because turn over rate is very high. Some Dr's and most of the upper management are also Trump supporters. They say they are willing to listen to suggestions/problems, but will fire you if they disagree.

I’ve been with this company for about two years now, and one of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed is the flexibility and low-pressure work environment. Management truly understands work–life balance, which makes it a great place to grow without feeling overwhelmed. Another major positive is the training and development opportunities. If you show strong performance and motivation, the company is more than willing to train you in new skills and areas you want to learn. They really invest in helping you succeed and advance. My only real complaint is that the pay could be better. That said, aside from compensation, this is a company that genuinely cares about its employees and wants to see them succeed. Overall, it’s a supportive and encouraging place to work.

A typical day at work is well-structured and productive. I learned a lot about teamwork, time management, and handling responsibilities efficiently. Management is very supportive, approachable, and open to communication, which makes a big difference in daily operations. The workplace culture is positive and respectful, and employees are encouraged to grow and perform well. The hardest part of the job can be managing deadlines during busy periods, but it also helps improve skills and resilience. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with a cooperative team and having supportive leadership.
