I enjoyed my job when I was working with the residents and there were a bunch of co-workers that were very committed and good to work with. Other than that, I would not recommend working here.
The place is currently like a sinking ship! Staff are leaving left and right because they are overworked and very underpaid! There is a HUGE staffing shortage and people are doing the jobs of 3 or 4 people. The residents are suffering because of the staffing shortages. 

The management is so overwhelmed with administrative nonsense that they generally have no idea how bad working on the floor has become. It seems like much of the work being done by a lot of employees is really half done because there are not enough hours in the day to do everything. 

If you are an hourly employee like a CNA, you would be better off almost anywhere else because you will not get paid close to what you can make at other places. You will also find that the employees who work hardest and do a good job are abused by getting extra work to do or are made to work in multiple roles.  As someone who works here, you should not expect to be appreciated much by management or administrators. The smallest improvements would be appreciated! The employee bathrooms are even horrible and look like they are in a sketchy gas station.

Working at UMH, I’ve seen a great effort by the leadership team to evolve the company culture to fit the modern employee. They offer a 403b, PTO and a great, affordable benefit program which includes spousal and family coverage. For RNs and LPNs, they also offer a tuition forgiveness program. Most companies that have been around as long as UMH has, are now having to make changes to not only accommodate the current workforce, but also the incoming workforce. As far as I can see, they’re making an honest effort to do so. They have a Clinical Leadership Development program built to help employees grow within the company, they also recently launched a new peer to peer employee recognition program. UMH has given me many opportunities to not only advance in my career but also to advance my skills. Another important thing that I haven’t experienced with prior employers is that my voice is actually heard when I have a suggestion about improvements that can be made. I personally think that goes a long way.

It was super unfortunate watching the effect the pandemic had on the staff here in every department. Work ethic became non existent on all sides and it was often very difficult communicating with and working with other departments to get the residents what they needed. Favoritism galore and the higher ups could not care less about you and your burnout. On top of that the work environment here felt very similar to that of a high school. Getting the opportunity to meet and work with the residents was one of the only good things about working here. I will never forget connecting with the residents but I’ll also never forget how I saw some of the most hard working staff get treated like dirt while others were congratulated for doing nothing but create uncomfortable work environments for everyone else around them. 

United Methodist Homes is an excellent place to work in Binghamton, NY as well as in NEPA. United Methodist Homes focuses both on the care their residents receive as well as retaining top talent.  The salary for every position is competitive with the local market.  The benefits are wonderful including a great retirement plan, paid time off, and medical plan.  There is room for employees to grow in their career.  The organization helps pave the way for career development with leadership training and many other internal and external educational opportunities.  I have worked in other health care organizations and working at United Methodist Homes has been my best experience.

I am really happy to work for United Methodist Homes. They do great things for our local community. They also offer good benefits and I have never had a problem with taking time off. I am reimbursed generously for mileage traveled. Management is friendly and supportive with room to grow in the company if you so desire. They are strict with following rules but that is because we have such a high reputation to keep. All employees are really appreciated and there are often fun events to attend to keep us motivated. I really love this company and my job.

Since starting at Wesley Village I have felt very successful and supported in my position. Wesley Village offers a lot of different career opportunities and potential to grow within the company. All of the other employees (including management) I interact with on a day to day basis are very supportive, positive, and willing to help you succeed in your job. The campus is beautiful and it is hands down the nicest LTC facility I have ever been in. They have a variety of different positions in addition to nursing and the benefits are great in comparison to other companies in this field where I have worked. 

This was my first job and I absolutely loved it. It gave me the chance to build relationships with the elderly population which I never would have had before. Aside from building relationships, I learned a lot about food service, prepping food, and  cooking. Our management was fantastic, as long as you were doing your job correctly they left you to your own devices. It was definitely a place where your co-workers felt more like family than anything else, I built long lasting friendships in my time there. It is a quick-paced job at some points and very relaxed at others.

It is easy to take pride in the work you are doing to provide necessary care for people in need. Kitchen work is fast paced and exhausting at times, but very rewarding overall. My only complaint is that my coworkers, mostly high schoolers, were often rowdy, rude, and insubordinate. Kitchen management seemed to have a hard time exercising authority with them, resulting in food fights, wasted time, harassment, and an unprofessional work environment.

UMH has provided me with numerous fun, exciting and challenging job opportunities in my six years of employment. I have been able to expand my professional nursing practice through the experiences I have had with the company and through all of the opportunities they have given me. They have also provided me with the opportunity to continue my nursing education through their generous tuition reimbursement program. I have had support from the entire UMH team along the way and have grown alongside my co-workers, some of whom now feel like my family. It is a great place to work.

I have worked for UMH for about 8 years in total. They really care about quality and doing the right thing. Not to say that they dont have many of the same challenges as other senior living communities. But they care about the staff and the residents and do always look at what they can improve. They are very focused on continual improvement and the building is clean. They are always doing something nice for staff to show their apppreciation. I work at the Nursing home at the Johnson City campus.
