Overall, really enjoyed the teaching at Unitek. Loved working with the students and seeing them blossom and grow over the course of the program. However, what I did not like was management style. Management was only good to you. If you didn’t make waves kept your mouth shut and just did all the work. The compensation was terrible. I had over 15 years of experience and was basically paid no more what a new MA would make. Was not treated fairly in that I was never able to state my side of the story. It was always very one-sided. Not to say I am perfect, but I would at least like a form where I can speak and be heard that was not available there. i’m not the kind of person who is fake or sucks up to people I’m very real and feel like my work should stand on its own, which it never did. I was teaching all the classes by myself with no support and when they did hire a new instructor was told not to talk to them because they didn’t want me influencing them. that was sort of the beginning of the end for me the fact that I couldn’t take any time off when I needed to because there was never anyone there to cover me and they just piled more and more and more on me without giving me any decent compensation for it and basically treated me like I was nothing while treating others who they ended up firing as where the cats meow. If they could get that part of their program together, it would be a great place to work.

I work in marketing at Unitek and I absolutely love it. And this is coming from a picky person who has been in between many corporate jobs until I finally found one I am happy with. Here at Unitek everyone is extremely kind. Everyday people are boosting each other up and are open to questions. The direction is clear about what I need to do and the timelines. I feel excited to come to work everyday, it is flexible with my schedule if I have to let my dog out for a walk or go to a last minute appointment, and the workload is a perfect balance. It is a growing company and everyone aboard is so driven to make our mission come true. The management wants nothing but growth for you even if that means growing into a new department, they even recommend videos and learning tools to do this. I never get bored or feel scared or stressed about speaking my mind. If you are interested in working here I recommend giving it a shot! 

I have worked in academia for more than a decade.  I was a little apprehensive of unitek because their outcomes are not favorable.  It is clear to me now why that is, their focus is on micromanaging and over the top communication without clean structure or processes.  It's messy.  For a part time adjunct the communication and emails are overkill. The leadership is constantly in the course and scrutinizing grading and announcements, announcements are expected almost every other day. This is not the best approach to improve outcomes, as that curriculum is extraordinarily, sloppy and remedial. I have read multiple reviews that speak the same way, which shows me that administration is not committed to quality improvement nor advancing outcomes.  I would only not recommend not working there. I would never recommend being a student there.

I began working for one of the college divisions almost ten years ago. I was awarded one single opportunity for advancement in nine years. After Unitek Learning acquired the college, I have had two different opportunities for advancement in the last year. I am very happy with my current role, I love the team I work with above and below me on the organization chart. 
I feel the workplace culture is really great, we are treated like a family even though we work remotely. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the students and faculty. 
The hardest part of the job is requesting uninterrupted time off. Some remote employees also do not all receive sick time because it is related to the state you reside and their local laws in rather than where the college location. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some of the online training modules are interesting and job-enhancing. Also the Benefits package seems reasonable. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Long hours, without adquate staff to take on the role of instructor.  The college is there to provide a service. There are too many chiefs not enough service providers. Management often decides to start and enroll for classes were there is not an available teacher then beg instructors to teach extra classes, in addition to their regular schedule.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work-Life is unbalanced. The trend is to continue to added more responsiblities and work-load without consideration for prepration time.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lecture for 8 hours then go home and prep for the next day. You really work 10 to 12 hour days on salary.

As one of 4 other Career Development Coordinators, my main focus to help non-traditional students develop professionally so that they are ready to enter into the newly chosen career fields. I primarily work with Information Technology, Medical Assisting, and Pharmacy Technician students and graduates to ensure that they have the necessary skills to succeed within their program and after graduation, where they will apply their learned skills from the classroom and the externship I set them up with in real professional settings. I also act as a resource for nursing graduates to secure employment upon completion of their program. Maintaining employer relations is also a critical part of my position, as is ensuring that the materials we use in the department are effective and constantly improved to maximize efficiency.

Unitek charges their students a lot of money to go to school there, and most of the times their classes are full or very close to full. However, the money never seems to help out the base level employees. Instead, there are more positions added at the corporate level. The base level employees get more and more duties added onto what was already a full plate, and we are left working a ton of overtime just to try to keep up. This leads to burnout and if you bring it up to the higher-ups, they sympathize with you, but nothing changes. If you have a position in corporate, it can be good. But campus level employees are stressed out trying to keep up with the never-ending cycle of work.  

I cannot emphasize enough how difficult it is to maintain students and a positive environment for them with the disorganization that comes from this company. 

We are expected to retain and support students in ways many faculty don't know how... Let alone several staff were concerned after a major layoff from the company in 2023. There are unrealistic expectations when those above our managers are not listening to staff who are advocating for students. 

I have steered several people away from this college even while in my role at Unitek. The high turnover from different units such as academics (deans and teachers) to admissions staff (financial aid and admissions) says enough for a new hire AND students. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some employees with the company are amazing. Kind, fun to work with and easy going.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Extremely poor planning and training. Was placed in the position with very minimal training and was thrown to the wolves. There is no clear roadmap for this position and it seems like everyone is just winging it, which is not good given then type of program they are offering and promising.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Upper management is very catty and unprofessional. I heard on numerous occasions negative comments about current and former staff and very rude comments made about students. Given their titles I would expect much better decorum.

This is a terrible Company to work for. Everyone is under paid and management is quick to point the finger and not take responsibility for their own mistake. This is a rather unprofessional environment with no room for growth or opportunity. 

Of any company that i have ever worked for this has to be the most unethical work environment that i've ever been in. From my experience, i was asked directly from two directors take leads from my former employers, of course i refused because its completely unethical and against my morals.

This company has a high turn around rate of employees, so be careful if you apply, if your desperate for now go ahead, be prepared for no structure, no leadership, and a company that will run before they walk!
