At first, I enjoyed my employment at Utah Behavior Services. The program did a kind of therapy that I had never done before, and I was excited to learn a new way to help others. I also loved the fact that they did a lot of early intervention, which has been proven to help those with ASD live more successful lives. The staff were kind and overall, welcoming to me. For the first few months, I enjoyed working as a tech for UTBS. But, I began to see flaws in how things were managed. One thing that was hard for me to accept was the strictness of some areas, yet there was no support in place to ensure that these things were followed through on. One example is writing notes on clients. This needed to be done to get paid, and I understood the need for them to be done, as its simply part of doing ABA therapy. However, little training was given, and even as a brand new staff, there was no follow up, no check in to see how I felt at writing them, no support in place. And if you write poor notes, your already low pay would be reduced. Another example of poor support was when it came to following a clients treatment plan. I understood the need for this, as each client had their own unique plan for the set of behaviors observed. However, we were often told that if we did not understand something in the plan, to talk to the supervisor for said client. Supervisors were rarely around, not approachable, and when they were around, they were in meetings. This hypocritical approach was honestly pretty frustrating after being around a few months. In short, I wanted to grow in the role that was given to me, but there were no means given for this to happen. How can employees be happy, stick around and grow, when there is no system in place? And I know I am not the only one who felt these frustrations with management, as I watched several administrative staff leave, saying quietly and briefly that they were leaving due to struggles with management. 
When working with hard cases of ASD, the techs are the one who take the hardest and most frequent blows, both literally, and figuratively. For a program such as this, management needs to be constantly checking in, providing support to their staff. Turnover was high in the Taylorsville location I worked in due to these failures. 
The job is rewarding, and I did see growth and success in my clients, and I loved and cherished these small victories, but the frustrations with management far outweighed the rewarding factors.     
On top of this, the raises I was told I would get I never received.

When I first started working there it was so much fun! It was a great environment and a lot of support. Then the environment changed. They brought in a new manager who was totally unfriendly, full of himself and back stabbing. There was a supervisor who we used to refer to as little dictator who loved to write everybody up and cut you down if she didn't like you. Very arrogant and snobby managers.  People were getting fired simply for standing up for themselves. They would send out emails asking us to write positive reviews about the company on all the social media so be careful about all the positive reviews. I left on a good note but simply because I didn't trust my managers and questionable ethics. They were dismantling good programs, losing amazing employees, and blaming you for not knowing about all their changes. The back stabbing and gossip was awful. I ended up having to go see a shrink after my experience there! (I got referred for PTSD) And they did not offer any benefits unless you wanted to pay out of the nose for them. There was no such thing as paid time off regardless of a how hard you worked for them. It really did use to be a lot of fun, and such a great place doing so much good! It was heartbreaking to watch them file lawsuits on anybody that looked at them the wrong way. When employees left and tried to move on with their lives, they would turn you into the licensing department trying to get you in trouble with the state. I've talked to a lot of people in the mental health field, their reputation isn't getting any better.

 If you do work there, watch your back and trust no one!

Since I started there were many improvements in regards to management, employee benefits, and the overall workplace culture.  I constantly saw the office administrators and directors trying to improve how things were running.  The workplace culture was very supportive.  There were many times where I felt overwhelmed or unsure in situations that were intense or difficult to create a solution to.  I never felt afraid to reach out to any employee (coworker, supervisor, team lead, directors, office administrators) for support or advice.  They often followed up after a conversation to make sure everything was resolved/I felt comfortable to continue.  The most difficult part of this job for me personally was the intensity of some client escalations.  Although it was nerve-racking sometimes, I constantly had so many coworkers that came to my aid in those times and I always felt I had support.  The hours of the job are also very flexible, and the job itself is very rewarding.  You can see the clients progress after only working there a short time, and even more so when you have worked with a client over a longer period of time.  It can be very fun sometimes, as many of the activities that the clients do the staff get to participate in as well. 

I’m certain a lot has changed since  I worked here several years ago, though their turnover rates are/were stupid high for a reason, even for supervisors. If you’re new to ABA they sucked at giving you any proper training/information outside of the 40 hour training course ,which doesn’t educate you well enough without outside help in my opinion. The pay isn’t great considering how difficult the work can be. The hours can be all over the place with many different clients. I worked with new clients every week most weeks and any new client you have you should pair with so these kids would go a long time without a proper session schedule or programming. And the management sucked, they chose favorite and if they didn’t like you, you could easily tell by their treatment of you and your schedule being whack. I didn’t really learn how to be a proper RBT until I moved to a different company that really supported me and taught me. I would go months without a supervision or set client, which I didn’t learn until later is horrible for clients as consistently I’d what they need the most. Overall I just felt like they really didn’t care about me or the kids. It was all about making a profit which just sucks, especially for a company that’s supposed to help special needs kids.

typical work environment there is good and bad. Management doesn't communicate well changes and administrative staff administrative assistants aren't announced so you go looking for somebody and find out they don't work there anymore.

Behavior techs provide a kind of contract work system because they are paid for the hours they provide a service. they often have the opportunity to do a home session on a holiday. Unfortunately, they treat administrative staff like they are the same type of employee, except less valuable. So when they're closed for half days or whole days every holiday that comes up you simply lose the opportunity to earn money which means the income isn't stable.
Average competitive pay but when you factor in putting aside money to make up when there is a holiday, or God forbid you get sick. it drops you way below the average competitive pay rate. 
If you're an administrative assistant you have no way to make up hours for a holiday or sick day.
as part of the administrative team even though you're the first contact with the client and you smooth out any rough edges, do all the PR work you are not seen as valuable. You're easily replaced. Which is probably why they offer no paid holidays two administrative staff.

I didn’t work at Utah Behavior Services for very long so I don’t have a lot of information on the company. 

First off, they deceptively list their starting pay at $15-$17 an hour on Indeed but when I was being hired, they explained I actually start at $12 an hour until I complete a 40 hour training course and some other trainings and then I will get paid $15. I felt that was very deceptive on their part and $12 is nowhere near enough to compensate what you have to go through at the job. I found that to be very insulting. They always claim that they pay you $12 because it’s based on insurance from clients but that’s still not acceptable. 

Secondly, there was a handful of things that you were expected to do that seemed uncomfortable to be. One example is the client notes. Utah Behavior Services expects you to do the client notes during the session but there aren’t exactly a lot of opportunities to do it because some of the kids need your undivided attention for their own safety. If you didn’t do it on shift (which isn’t realistic 100% of the time) then you’d have to stay behind and do it later. I was a full-time worker and I felt that I had to put in additional time to do more work than the 40 hours I agreed to each week. 

Third (and this is just a personal opinion), there were very few people who looked like they actually enjoyed the job/wanted to be there. 

I applied to Utah Behavior services excited about working with the clients, and that part of the job I thoroughly enjoyed. Some of the staff (other RBT's) are friendly and helpful, and the hours are flexible, but that is the only thing good about this job. When you are hired they are supposed to show you an hour training video, which they showed me 15 minutes of because it was not working and then never mentioned again. They treat all staff as easily replaceable probably because no one stays for very long. Most new staff I was hired with quit not long after being hired because management and scheduling do not communicate what so ever. They do not respect your time or you at all. Other staff that have been there longer have formed cliques (not all) and there is so much negative talk. Also you have to drive all around the valley from home to home within 30 minutes of your last session. They do not give staff any time for lunch or dinner. So if you are scheduled with clients all day you're going hungry. They are seriously unorganized and it's at the expense of the staff. I kept trying to give them more and more chances, and communicate how I was feeling, but no one would listen. I'm really sorry this place didn't work out, but I hope it will fix its problems.

I work at Utah Behavior Services in St George and this has seriously been the best job I've ever had. The atmosphere is so positive and we have really good team and communication skills. We love working with our clients and with their families as well. I have learned so much about behavior and about people in general from this job. UTBS has changed my life for the better and I am constantly seeing how we change the kids lives that we work with along with their families. It is one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done. This job has opportunities to continue education as well. Everyone I work with is very supportive. We all work as we are on the same team. 

I have seen bad reviews from employees who have quit or been let go. This job gives hours based on employee performance because we take our treatement with our clients very seriously, so most likely people who didn't have a good performance aren't happy because they weren't getting all of the hours they wanted. We absolutely want the best treatment we get for our clients and their families.

I’ve been with Bridgeway Integrated Healthcare Services for a bit now, and honestly, it’s been one of the most meaningful jobs I’ve had. It’s definitely not for everyone  the work can be intense and the days can get stressful  but you can tell the company genuinely cares about both the families we serve and the employees who make it happen.

There’s a real focus on learning, accountability, and growth here. Leadership isn’t perfect, but they listen, they ask for feedback, and they actually make changes when things need fixing. The company puts a lot into professional development, team culture, and benefits that support your own family life, which is rare in this field.

Like any bigger organization, there are challenges and moments where communication could be smoother, but I’ve seen firsthand how much effort goes into trying to make things better. Its nice they have big company resources across the state but our center and the others ive visited feel like a small company culture if that makes any sense. Overall 8/10.

I loved working with this company because it was fast paced, required intellect and self motivation, and even at the entry level position I felt like I made a difference in the families I served providing ABA therapy to those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.  Everyone was very friendly and helpful providing support for any situation or questions that i encountered.  Training  for the RBT test was paid for by the company and expectations were clearly outlined as far as timelines and how to be successful in the position (very high expectations & self motivation are needed to succeed and move up within the company).  My experience was unique because it was my second job and during the beginning of the COVID -19 pandemic therefore I was able to maintain employment there when my primary employment was closed during the pandemic. Although employee turnover was very high I felt this was a fantastic place to provide services as a behavior technician and if I could maintain 2 jobs I would have loved to continue working there with the goal of becoming an RBT and increasing my skills with effective ABA therapy under the supervision of a BCBA.  Super experience for me!!!!!
