No one has your back here. Managers can run all over you and drive you into the ground. If your manager is the worst human being you've ever met, screws up all the time, puts down their employees and yells at them every chance they get, they will get raises, bonuses and a pat on the back for a job well done and nothing less. Work schedules are all over the place. You never know what you're going to be working from one day to the next. You may work 14 hours one day, then have to be back in after maybe 7 hours off the clock -- if you're lucky. The typical office environment for some branches is hostile and stressful. Rules within departments change with the wind. Hard to ever know what is right and what is wrong. No bonuses, no raises (outside of DOL), unaffordable healthcare benefits, management has no morals, or the integrity to keep anything discussed between them and the employee private... The list goes on. At the end of the day, the only important thing with this company (or at least the people who represent it here at Fort Polk) is money. They don't care about the employee and they never will. 

Aside from that, the job can be very enjoyable. When you're out there in the field or wherever and you're working for the soldier, doing what you can to help ready them for deployment, it's an amazing feeling. That alone is what keeps most of us coming back.

I've been with the company for only a few months and honestly wish I would have found them sooner. I have an amazing boss, who ensures I'm engaged and learning. My team has also been amazing at bringing me up to speed. Everyone is very collaborative and open to ideas on how best to complete an item. Each team member has core duties and then we help each other out with the projects needed to be completed. I've been working on a number of projects since my arrival and have become the SME on certain items. It's great to know that your knowledge and skills are not only being put to good use, but are recognized and appreciated. I don't think I've had a single day that I was not Thanked and/or told that I was Amazing, a Rock Star, Incredible, and other terms of encouragement. This was new to me, but it really makes you want to work that much harder, as you know that you are making a difference in the company. 

Valiant is in the process of completing a few mergers/acquisitions, which can be taxing on a company. However, I feel leadership is driving the company in a great direction. The leadership team are considerate of the different cultures and ways things have been done previously in each organization they have acquired. 

I honestly could not say enough good things about the company and the team of individuals that I'm privileged to work for and work with.

Valiant Integrated Services has experienced significant changes in recent years, leading to challenges in its work environment. While it had a positive reputation in the past, the introduction of new management has unfortunately resulted in some toxic elements.
There have been reported instances of strained relationships with overseas staff, leading to a less welcoming atmosphere, particularly in the Erbil office. Employees have expressed concerns about the lack of appreciation for their hard work, and there have been incidents where termination was seemingly sought out without proper justification.

The process of requesting and obtaining earned leave days has been somewhat difficult, requiring employees to be persistent in their requests. Additionally, there have been occasional discrepancies in pay, necessitating careful scrutiny of paychecks to ensure accuracy.
Open dialogue and expressing differing opinions have faced challenges, and employees have felt restricted in their ability to voice concerns without fear of repercussions. Some members of the company staff have also spoken negatively about the linguists, creating tensions with clients.



The pay is great when there are rotations going on. The amount of rotations a year can greatly vary and there are years where we can have 3 or more months off which is great to have a break, but not great for the wallet. 

Overall there is no way to grow within the company unless you know someone/get lucky to move into a full time position. PTCOs (part-time on call) which the majority of employees are do not get benefits, not health not PTO nothing... well we get sick leave which can be difficult to actually use. Generally speaking during rotations we can work well over 40 hours a week which yeah it's good for the pocket, but does lead to major burnout.

The last thing I will mention is that if you're having a problem with a co-worker or a situation in general... don't hold your breath lol nothing will get done about it. Most of management I've come into contact with literally are so unconfrontational that they won't handle issues. Which can be extremely frustrating. 

Overall working for this company isn't bad, but there are a lot of quirks to be aware of

I do not work for the headquarters office but as a contractor for the company. Results will vary depending on your work location. Everything is driven by the contract. That means that X positions must be filled and they get X salary. Have not received Cost of Living raises in 4 years because it was not in the contract (This is frustrating with rent going up everywhere). The management at my location is great and they do what they can to take care of their employees. In most cases there is no room for promotions but more lateral movement. Bonuses were only received once out of a multi-year contract so far. The company is also accommodating for family life and will work with you to ensure you can take care of what is needed. Overall my experience has not been terrible here but more frustrating with lack of compensation/raises to me and the people that work here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Time off. Can be more flexible with time. Job is starter job or for retired persons. Managers are retired military who know nothing about federal contracts or supervising civilians. So many government refs ignored. Integrity problems. Accounting system bad

Management 1 minute late sent home. Micro management. Civilians are treated like soldiers. Accounting system not accurate

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful getting to box. Vehicles not safe. After in box more lax. However no heat in winter and no cool in summer. Lack of adequate portable latrines. Which are locked.   COR runs contract not contracting officer. Directs employees

The transition stemming from Valiant's acquisition of Cubic Global Defense has been extremely rocky. The new fiscal year began October 1st and since Valiant can't seem to get their IT transitions under control they are not cutting paychecks in the proper amounts to their employees and they wouldn't give a date as to when full paychecks will be disbursed or whether any backpay would occur. Luckily, we were paid after one whole month of not being paid... They are extremely lucky that the 7,800 people they acquired with the purchase of Cubic haven't already jumped ship. In addition, our medical benefits premiums have doubled, equating to a roughly $5,000+ paycut for legacy employees. As soon as I finally received all the backpay that was due to me, I immediately accepted a position with another company whom I feel confident will pay me on time.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Occasional breakfasts and lunches. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Assigned to programs in various time to include countries. Emails never stopped and company phone was attached to the hip and you were expected to answer at all times. Salaried employee, so I always worked over 40 hours a week, but when I got sick or had to go to appointments, I had to use vacation time!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In one word that sums it up, TOXIC! If you are not Mid to Upper Management, forget it, you are invisible and your concerns will be Ignored!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy from start to finish. Many days of missing lunch or forgetting to eat because of juggling your workload.

Typical day at work is working on / completing any scheduled pieces of assigned projects, and professional self development courses.  Management is great, they try to balance work load with your personal needs when at all possible (they try to find middle ground).  Taking care of oneself and family is highly encouraged.  Workplace culture is dynamic and varies depending on section.  A lot of retired military with great stories and customer focused mindsets.  Hardest part of job is training customers due to their varying levels of computer competency.  Most enjoyable parts are seeing customers perform their job functions successfully after training and the camaraderie of  coworkers in the day to day environment.  Honestly one of the best (if not the best) companies I have had the privilege to work with.
