While there are many dedicated employees throughout the organization who genuinely care about the people they serve, management culture significantly impacts the overall employee experience.

A recurring issue was the disconnect between leadership and frontline staff. Employee concerns were often dismissed, minimized, or handled in ways that discouraged open communication. Rather than creating an environment where employees felt comfortable speaking up, there was a culture that left many feeling unsupported and hesitant to voice concerns.

Diversity and inclusion also felt inconsistent with the organization’s stated values. Employees in a multicultural workforce should feel respected and valued for the backgrounds and languages they bring to the workplace. Unfortunately, there were situations that left employees feeling singled out rather than supported, creating unnecessary tension and discomfort.

Another concern was the handling of sensitive employee matters. Professionalism, discretion, and respect are essential in any workplace, particularly in healthcare. However, there were instances where employee concerns and personal matters did not appear to be handled with the level of care and confidentiality that would be expected, which negatively impacted trust in leadership.

Career growth and internal mobility also proved challenging. Employees seeking advancement opportunities within the organization may find the process difficult to navigate, making it feel as though professional development is not always encouraged despite a desire to remain within the organization.

The most disappointing aspect is that many of the organization’s challenges are not related to the work itself. There are talented, hardworking individuals throughout the system who are committed to doing their jobs well. Unfortunately, leadership and management practices often overshadow those strengths.

The organization has the potential to be an excellent place to work, but meaningful improvements in leadership, communication, accountability, employee support, and workplace culture are needed to create an environment where employees feel respected, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Working Valley EMS gave me the experience I needed to go out an get a higher paying 911 job. It was a great place to start. High standards are held for employees. Medics in general teach the EMT’s and treat them with respect. Transports take up most of the job with 1 or 2 911’s a day and 2-5 transports. You’re usually busy all day. Management can play favorites. A lot of office gossip, someone was always the topic of discussion. Most of my co workers were competent, people who weren’t competent weeded themselves out or were trained into really great providers. No opportunity for EMT’s to advance into supervisors or any leadership role. Only medics can. Highest level and EMT car reach is FTO. Kinda sad that there is no room for growth which is why I say it’s not a place to stay. Pay was not enough compared to other departments. Making $5 more an hour now doing a lot less work. Benefits were great tho. Would recommend working here to gain experience. 

It may vary from department-to-department but ICU/IMC is extremely busy and some people(Nurses) are lazy and can be very needy. You go above and beyond your job description and busy doing someone else's work for them and the pay is ridiculous. There is no advancement because they have their own picks. You are pretty much stuck in your position for a very long time unless you get some special favor from HR or some managers. There are little perks once in a while; such as free coffee voucher, few $'s loaded on your badge etc. This depends on each different unit and department but ICU nurses will have you do everything for them. You go back home super tired and come back to  the same routine the very next day. You will  never understand their Politics. It is an ok place to hang-on until you find something better. And Yes! you do learn a lot.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The Valley Health system cares about its employees more than any other organization that I have experienced. It's not one of those HUGE corporations that makes you feel like a cog in the wheel. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The medical record system they have chosen: Home Care Home Base. Totally insane, counter intuitive and for chaplaincy it is not interfaith, questions repeat themselves and/or don't have anything to do with spiritual care. It drove me out.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is caring and supportive. Highly professional.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
4hours or so visiting patients and then long hours of documentation in a system that only Medicare LOVES.

Pays very well, not very flexible with regards to hours and schedule adjustments, medical benefits aren't great.  It's a call center so you are chained to a schedule and every minute needs to be accounted for.   Honestly the hardest part of the job is talking to people all day and being locked into a schedule.  when not on a call you have to change your status to report what you are doing, and its all measured. Culture- dress code is business casual, you can't eat at your desk, lunch break is 30 minutes, and you get 2 breaks and sometimes your first break is 1 hour after you clock in. the phone system chooses everybody's break and the current supervisor will not adjust it. That's a typical work day.  The people there are great though, and fun to work with.

Vmg does not  care how overworked you are. They want you to track, mammograms, colonoscopy and other test to make sure insurances get what they want. You have to do it while you have pt's back to back every 15 min and you work late 8:45 -7pm. Management does not care about anything as long the job its done. When you complaint about work not being done by other cma's, their answer is to write everything that goes on, like they don't believe you. Very unexperienced management, that causes more problems between coworkers.  The doctors who I worked for are very nice, but of course they always hear what the person above you has to say. People think Valley pays good, but they do not know that you work very hard and long hours. 
We should get pay more for what we do.

Working in patient care definitely is exciting and allow you to feel like you are making a difference. You learn that someone is always doing worst than you in one capacity or the other. The good thing about my job is the managers are trained to be fair. Valley seem to go out of their way the choose the right candidates, co-workers are for the most part good people. Each day can present some challenge however overall when I do my very best it works itself out. When ever I know I've done my very best to assist a patient, I'm left with a feeling of satisfaction.

Valley is an okay place to work. I loved working on my unit and with my care team. The hospital always seems to be short staffed. Tech’s from smaller units tend to be floated a lot and you’re often left on the floor as the only tech (even when the unit is full). Valley is supposed to have an inclusive work environment, however there are politics involved in regards to promotions, transferring to another unit etc. The managers and directors show favoritism and act like high schoolers in cliques. There are times where it feels like your opinion doesn’t matter. I would give my overall experience working at Valley a 2 because of management and politics.

I worked at valley for 17 years and was fired over a racist manager she didnt like black people so she spent her 8 hours looking up information on certain workers and not others. 
I NEVER WOULD OF THOUGHT AFTER WORKING THERE 17 YEARS I WOULD BE THROWN OUT LIKE A PIECE OF MEAT. Two children take care of people can be very  miserable, sickly and lonely it cause someone their job because of your sick personal feeling is sad and pathetic the sad part is now the department is going down money wise because the people she left are barely doing the work she fired all the real workers

I worked at Valley Health three years ago as a traveler. Both the staff and management was great to work with. I applied and was hired about two months ago, but management seems messy and it’s lots of politic now. I honestly regret choosing to work there. The manager is new and whatever she says goes, if you don’t get onboard with her bullying you’re out the door. Overall it is a very friendly environment with lots of training to become a great employee and person. I will recommend it a good place to work  just not my department.
