I worked for Versant Health through their contract with Everise and it was a complete train wreck from day one honestly. It took a while to find this out but we were actually taught out dated materials during my 2 weeks of training which ultimately left my entire training group lost right from the jump. If it weren't for my background I would have been like a goldfish swimming around in an empty bowl like most of the rest. The so called resources they provided were of no help because they provide you like 100 different ones and half of them don't even work like they are suppose to or they are bogged down with so much useless info that you cant find the simple answer you need while on a call. Also your expected to have no silence on the phones at any time you cant leave a provider on hold for more than 2 minutes is what we were originally told but somehow that seemed to get tighter and tighter and god forbid it was even a second over. Also they expected you to juggle researching for the provider and notating your call simultaneously because you don't get a break between those calls they will be back to back and those providers they will be angry and take it out on you since they are unhappy with this company since they never get the glasses they order from their lab correct it seems.  There also seems to be a lot of issues with credentialing and providers cant reach out to the credentialing department directly so have fun telling them they have to wait to be reached out to. We literally just got to be verbal punching bags for the most part and NO ONE cares. The higher ups most of the time didn't even seem to have an answer or understand how their own company worked it all just got pushed off or around to someone else and was a big shuffling board and blame game. All of this on top of long hours where they didn't wanna let you go for your breaks because of the high call volumes it was a big no thank you! I started as a CSR and when they offered me a promotion to a team lead/trainer they didn't and weren't even going to give me a raise they were so stingy at first. Ultimately I stepped away from that position as well because of how much of a train wreck it all was and the expectations for the whole dollar extra they gave me was no worth it. 

They had outsourced the position to become more automated as it used to all be done by hand. A small group was hired internally once the new system was in place to learn the new system. The leadership team and contractors were immediately laid off. None of what was promised during the interview was honored once the leadership was removed. The company said they would replace them but never did. A small group is responsible for the caseloads of the entire team that was laid off and has to play customer service taking inbound phone calls at the same time. It was specifically stated in all three interviews that they had a team to handle inbound calls and agents would not be responsible to handle them. Even when leadership isn't laid off, they seem to take the position to add the title to their resume and quickly leave. HR said when offered a raise would come after three months and it did not. Since we weren't in the position for a full year, they also disqualified us from getting our annual performance-based raise during the review period which capped out at a few extra cents an hour regardless. The company said there would be growth potential but in reality, is incredible small and positions rarely become available. When they do show up on the internal job board the senior level positions have salaries listed that are less than a new hire customer service agent makes. They claim the title is the promotion if you interview. Meetings had been daily but pointless and a waste of time which is harmful when you have cases due. 

I had worked for this company for 6 years and I am so happy I am out of there. This is the worst job I have ever had and the worst company I have ever worked for. They are extremely strict about break times and managers are rude. You are only allowed 40 minutes a day for your 8+ hour shift with your unpaid lunch to use the rest room and breaks. I have bowel problems and I explained many times to my crazy rude shaved headed female manager that I cannot help when I need to go to the bathroom and some days may take me longer then others using the wash rooms. After many “coachings” and threats of being written up and put on final warning for this, I was mandated into working overtime for a 12 hour day and only being allowed to use the rest room 40 minutes for the entire day. About 6 hours into my shift I had used up all my bathroom time off the phones and I called my managers extension to beg to use the bathroom and was told if I step away from the desk after I had already used my time I would be put on final warning and possible termination. My body couldn’t hold it in any longer and **number 2’ed** myself because I was not allowed to step away without losing my job. I was forced to sit In it for 6 hours at this job. Needless to say I went home and applied for a new job and resigned shortly after. DO NOT WORK HERE. I had the worst day of my entire life working for this company. Extremely crude and embarrassing for me.

Training does not prepare for the floor. Training is rushed and only about 2.5 weeks long. The trainers were good people but there were no training manuals/materials for us to reflect on. 

They went through hundreds of PowerPoint slides but we didn’t have a copy of the PowerPoint. 
The calls are back-to-back all day every day and you are expected to navigate their multiple outdated systems to assist customers. The processes are dated, convoluted, confusing, and more difficult than they should be. You are will be thrown tons of information in multiple systems and expected to navigate these slow systems while call is on hold, but oh remember you have to check in every 2 minutes with the caller while you trying to find info.

Lunch is only 30 minutes with two breaks. Requesting time off appears to be another problem as the call center is 24/7. You will also be mandated to work mandatory overtime on Saturday or Sunday especially if you are a new hire. They never get enough people to sign up because the work is mentally exhausting.

You have to be comfortable with taking abusive calls without recourse. You cannot offer warning or disconnect the call under any circumstance. They say you can reach out to a supervisor, but they do not want to take the calls and will take their time responding to escalations.


The training took place inside of a classroom. One example of an activity included forming groups to draw posters outlining what makes good customer service in our opinions. Then the posters were displayed on a wall so the entire class could compare and contrast them. It was like being in kindergarten.

As training progressed and we were put out onto the main floor, new associates were put in an area surrounded by seasoned employees referred to as the Guideline team. As we took live calls, if we needed help we would raise our hand and be approached by one of the Guideline members. One was so continuously rude and belittling to me one morning that I began transferring calls away from me if I didn't understand something instead of raising my hand.

A few weeks later after training, I saw the trainer in a hallway. They looked at me, smirked and said "utoh..." The next day I was asked into a room away from the main floor. There I was met with a round table full of management who explained that I was being terminated for transferring the calls away from me a few weeks prior.

Just thinking about my five week experience there is angering and I hate reliving these events to share them here. Avoid at all costs.

Training is very lax to make you think this will be an enjoyable job. They also lied about a few things in training. A typical day is back to back calls with threats from management if you take more than 2 minutes to document your call.  The real time assistance associates are rude and petty. Probably  because  they don't know too much more than you. Be prepared to be ignored by them if they don't know an answer.  Even though their job is to help you with your questions.  Management will stalk and harass you all day long. They track your every move down to the second.  Not only that but there is MANDATORY OT. This is a stressful and mentally draining job. Definitely not worth the 17.75 they start you at. The union is a joke.  There's nothing enjoyable about this job. The customers are rude to the point you have to hang up on them.  Also  you don't have privacy in your home. Even if you're off a call but logged into the phone management is listening . They micromanage so bad they might as well have people return to the office. I've worked retail before and this job was 10x worse. The customers and supervisors are tied in the rudeness race. The benefits are terrible.  Your first year you only get 27 sick hours and 40hrs of personal time. Again this is the worse company I've ever worked for.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits and the extensive time in training. The team always has a willingness to help you with questions via chat so that you can relay the correct information to each member.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes not getting timely responses to issues that are ongoing for a member. Also, dealing with the occasional member who feels like their insurance should be doing more and they take it out on you a little.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We're wfh so your atmosphere is what you make it. In the chat, the team is always willing to assist and IT is available for system issues.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Answering calls about being eligible for glasses or contacts and the exams. Majority of calls are about eligibility from either members or providers. Other popular calls are members asking what doctors are in network for them to use benefits. The hardest calls are about claims and why the insurance didn't pay for something or why they got a lower reimbursement than expected.

This place lacks communication, lacks training, and accepts verbal abuse to its employees. They have such a high turn over rate, people are leaving left to right, they're being bought and sold while workforce is reducing. They treat you like a sweatshop. If you do great, you rarely get acknowledged, but if you make a mistake, you are poorly treated. No proper mentoring/coaching, no trust, managers do not protect employees. They give you small gifts but it doesn't mean anything when leadership thinks they can treat their employees however they want. A very toxic and dysfunctional work environment. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone and if you did work here, you would only last 3 months to a year the most. This company has potential but it has poor management and leadership. There's lots of favoritism in some depts. Save yourself time and don't work for this unappreciated company.  

I worked in the Utilization Management (UM) department, and I would give it zero stars. The pay was insufficient for the workload, and the lack of training was a significant issue. Management seemed clueless about the department's operations, spending time in irrelevant meetings instead of addressing our needs.

We frequently faced compliance issues and incurred fines. As an Intake Coordinator, I processed authorization requests and handled calls in a manner similar to a customer service representative. Some co-workers would curse at you, but if you responded, they would complain to management.

Overall, I cannot recommend this company for a permanent position. MetLife needs to reevaluate the UM department and find a more competent team.

A typical day at versant health involves constant supervised stalking, supervisors who REFUSE to take supervisor calls, the things you learn in training become obsolete because supervisors make up protocols when it fits tasks they do not want to handle, no support, sending real time assistance emails which make you wait 10 + minutes for a response. Your coworkers will become your bestfriends but be prepared you’ll be in a training class with 20 people and more than half of that class will quit before the 90 day probation is over. Probably one of the worst jobs ive had with no accountability, no improvements just constant ridicule and high expectations outside of your pay grade.
