What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This was the most stressful job I have ever had!  It is difficult to limit it to just 1 thing. There is no work-life balance, charting before and after work hours, constantly checking labs, receiving calls all hours of the day/night, no communication from the facility. Honestly, if I had to single out the MOST stressful part, it would be fear of liability EVERY DAY due to a case load that is not manageable by 1 provider without support from management or the company.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get up at 0500, check labs and write notes on all of them, even if normal. Catch up on charting from the day before. Get to the building about 9-9:30 and round and check in with all the nursing staff, the DON, and ADON. After that, I would sit down to attempt to chart, with multiple interuptions. It was impossible to chart at the facility!  Then, about 1-1:30 or so, the admits would start arriving. There were multiple admits that you are expected to see and write comprehensive notes on. Then  I would leave anywhere from 3-7. I would get home and chart until bed, which was anywhere from 11 pm to 2am or later to try and finish my notes.

Unfortunately management does not have your best interest at heart. They provide you with quotas (that increase frequently) to obtain and do not provide you with the tools to meet these quotas. You inform them of the barriers that are stopping you from meeting these quotas, and they basically say "sorry" with no assistance. If you don't meet the quotas and are late on your notes, they won't pay you until you get the notes in (even though you did work those days, took call until 7p, and took care of MANY things at the facilities). The facilities and medical directors are told that we will take care of EVERYTHING for the facility (which is impossible because you are only 1 person), however tell you on the backend that we should just do what we can. That can cause tension between the APN and the facilities, and it also does not allow you to meet the quota of Vitae. I care for my patients, so if I can't do a note today because I was ensuring my patients were alive and well, I don't think I should be punished for that.

My typical work day at Vitae has to be very organized.  I typically start my day out around 8 am and try to develop my schedule and review labs. I always try to start seeing my patients around 9-930 which takes until about 11.  Once I get through with rounds, I put any orders in the chart for the day. After I enter orders I chart on each patient. I try to start charting around 1230-1. I do get interruptions during this time and often have to get up and go check on someone. I do try to avoid interruptions as much as possible. The work schedule its self can be very flexible as far as you come in see your patients, put your orders in, and if you needed to leave for something you could. I love the flexibility of the job that I make my own schedule and I am in control of my day for the most part.

As a reasonably new company and its smaller size, growth or promotion can be slow but patience pays off. 

Depending on the role, the clinical work is fulfilling and meaningful as we care for our most vulnerable population. If you want to care for the elderly and provide good psychotherapy, Vitae is the place to do so. 

Work within longterm care or rehab facilities to support residents work through mental health challenges.

Challenges relate to being support staff within settings that may have limited space, so may need to be flexible and look to collaborate to work through barriers.
Best part of job is to have the opportunity to make meaningful connections with multiple disciplinary team and be integral part to assisting residents/patients in adapting and overcoming challenges.  

They promised the facilities that you will be at every morning meeting and do daily rounds despite the fact that you have a quota to meet and have to get notes written within 24 hours. They also promise the facility that you will provide training to the staff. They do not compensate you for administrative time.  So, it does not matter if you spend two or more hours doing administrative facility tasks, at the end of the day, the quota must be meet or you will hear about it. 
The charting was not too bad; however, be prepared to use your personal phone to transmit notes and consents. Personally, the facility medical records director was not crazy about this method of transmission, and I was concerned about it as well. 

Really really enjoyed working for this company till my manager was switched. Have to be impartial here, Overall pay was good,benefit was great but if you don't like being micromanaged, then this company isn't for you. If you enjoy being micromanaged by all means I would recommend this company. 
However I worked with other managers and things were great so I don't think every manager is like that. Same ol bureaucracy, administrator not directly communicating with you like two adults instead going straight to your manager like high schoolers. Just not a suitable experience. But as mentioned, this is a "facility and manager issue" not the company itself. Vitae as a company is a really really good company with plenty of clinical support.

Vitae is a good place to start or develop your career however there is minimal room for advancement. Not very much micromanaging provided performance is at their expectations. Depending upon the facility every day can bring new challenges. Overall it is a good place to work. 

Typical day: prepare for the list of patients you need to visit for the day, talk to nursing staff, see your patients, communicate with families, PCPs, orders labs and medications; finish your notes and billing. The most enjoyable part of the job is that I see my patients getting better, the staff telling me that "the patient is calm and comfortable now", and the facility saying, "you're the best NP that we have been working with!"
