Initially was supposed to be interviewed for a position and at the interview and was told that the position was filled. Could have been told this before coming in; it felt like a bait and switch. The work environment is casual. The dress code is casual too. There is micromanaging and due to either people quitting or resigning from their jobs, the rest of the employees must take on a lot of work which leads to being overwhelmed. That causes a lot of stress and burnout. If you are ill, well I will just say this, take care of yourself and take the time that you need, because you will highly likely get written up for that anyway. The managers are watching some employees and it felt very uncomfortable witnessing that. The training is very unstructured and found it very frustrating, it took me weeks to figure out what exactly I was doing and why. I was expected to know what I am doing even though I was on the job for less than a week. I have been told to take my time but in the same breath, those same people are behaving like you do need to know this stuff now. It is an honest job, highly paced, but stressful due to micromanagement, lack of structure, and people leaving (being fired, let go, resigning or just quitting). At lunch, was informed that a group of people are leaving within two months and that office is going downhill fast. The office was full of people when I was hired and started work, however now, not a lot of people around. The environment feels very unsettling like the office is going to close or something. If you want to be somewhere short term, working here is okay, if you need a job, but staying at the company in Las Vegas for the long term unless you are management, I will say, continue to look for something else that fits you while being here and getting a check for a while. Most people who work here are fine, there are some people who get favoritism, are part of that workforce clique (very high school behavior unfortunately) and some people need to stay out of other people’s business and have some empathy. Also, if you have a disability, it does seem like they overlook it. Know your rights before you come into this company with a disability. No ergonomic structure for people who work at the Las Vegas office, and very archaic tracking for employees in doing calls or data entry. A nationwide company like this, I expected it to be much more. I believe that a lot of upgrades to the office space, phones, computers, ergonomics, and other health-beneficial elements would make the morale of that office much better. Encountered many people at the Las Vegas VRC office who have low morale due to being either unfairly targeted (written up) or overworked.

I love working at Vital Records Control. A typical day at work would be filing and pulling confidential files for customers that need important information stored away or delivered back to them. It is my job to make sure that the files are properly stored away in a safe and secure area in the warehouse. I also have other responsibilities that pertain to delivering files to customers and clients while at the same time practicing accurate inventory with every little detail that is included in the file. Aside from customer files, The guys and myself will go back into the shredding room whenever we arent busy in the office. We do have an industrial size shredder that will break down pieces of paper to about an eighth of an inch. From the shredder, the paper gets pushed into a bail that by the time it is ready to come out of the bailer, the bail weighs close to fifteen hundred pounds.

 I have learned the skill of portaling file boxes to be put on designated shelves(Bays). I have also learned file inventory through a scanner gun as well as Vital Records Control Website that allows me to run file, box, bay and customer reports. All of this seems so little but yet it really is a big deal regardless if the lack of trade in working here. All Eight of us including management work hard and we have such a great team that recognizes their responsibilities every day without having to be told what to do.
 This motivation comes from two managers that have a heart for good clean hard work. My Office Manager is the main person who hired me. he is a veteran police officer who had his own company that was bought out by Vital Records Control. They kept him on so that the transition of operations would go smoothly for new hires such as myself at the time. Jim is very low key and wants employees to enjoy working at VRC but at the same time requires that we do it professionally with care and a great attitude.
 My warehouse manager oversees all reports, shredding and delivery vehicles. He really is the driving force who will not hesitate to jump on a project when our little crew is overwhelmed by back orders or the shredding room is getting pilled up because we have had people out delivering boxes or files.
 

 The hardest part of the Job is just simply being in a warehouse that has very little A/C or airflow in it. It gets very hot in the warehouse for most of the year because we are located in Melbourne, FL. 
The most enjoyable part of my job is knowing that we are helping others and knowing that I work with a very supportive group of guys that like to have fun but at the same time knows that when its time to get the job done, its time to get them job done! We all have very different personalities which is great and they make VRC a place to want to work at!

I was a Director of Operations (DOO) for VRC, and I can honestly tell you it was the worst experience of my professional life. Leadership - from the CEO to the Senior Vice Presidents all the way through to the AVP's (area vice presidents) is a group of men who do not believe there is a better way of doing things. The way we've always done it is the mantra of VRC - embracing new ideas is not part of that mantra - unless it's about stealing them and calling them their own.

VRC has grown significantly through aquisition, which creates immense chaos throughout the ranks. Middle/senior management prevents any constructive feedback from getting to the CEO, as the middleman tends to lose his job.

VRC claims to be the hottest game in town, the greatest technology, the greatest systems, the greatest leadership. Unfortunately, it has none of that. Management only cares about one thing - EBITDA. People are but only numbers - and the company can only grow by acquiring companies who are usually looking to get out for a reason, leaving the DOO's to pick up the shambles. The AVPs have to do the work of the DOOs when they quit, and they are receiving tremendous pressure from the RVPs.
Customers are unhappy. Employees are unhappy. When the Venture Capital firm becomes unhappy, which is just a matter of time, the house of cards will probably fall.

If you're looking for something you can be proud of, stay away from VRC. If you aren't, and can still pass a drug test, apply away. There are many vacancies.

Vital Records bought our company.  First message from VRC ownership and management was a cut in benefits. Pay would be frozen. After computing VRC benefits against a previous, richer employer a full-time employee staying on at VRC would see about a $4000 cut in benefits, PTO, health coverage, lost paid holidays. That's about $80 per week, or $2 an hour cut.

New management promised clearer communication, but that message was lost on remaining managers.  When Memphis management showed up, it was clear who was in charge. 

Radio scan bar codes might work on outgoing CSR, but incoming boxes had to be handwritten. O'Neil is a superior software system. I think VRC finally came around and adjusted handheld scanners. Clients complained about new system.

From a previous owner's coverage with full health, dental and vision coverage the VRC mandate of $70 from an employee's paycheck every two weeks screamed "cheap". I realize margins are tight, but give your employees an opportunity to offer efficient, effective solutions. Perhaos that can offset some inefficient ways.

Give credit where it is due: new employers finally gave in and honored previous employer's holiday and PTO through end of 2018. In 2019 though, expect bare bones PTO.

After weighing options and loss of earnings I decided on a return to independent contractor work.  Glad I did. I am earning more than VRC and paying for health and retirement.

I wish VRC the best, but if first three months are an indication, there may be exodus of employees and low morale.

Senior company management operates under the assumption that with one year of experience thirty times (thirty years experience), that they know the ins and outs of the records storage business.
With the takeover of our facility, existing personnel were used to guide the transition process and then replaced with less experienced leadership. 
There is no job security with this company if senior leadership believes that you may know more about the operation than they do or that you may offer suggestions that they later adopt as if the idea was theirs.
VRC is a very ego driven company at the corporate level and struggles to provide good customer service in part as a result of the treatment of their employees.
This company values the next "deal" and not it's facility staffs. Each business "deal" is viewed as a success until later when facility personnel have to be cut as a result of poor business planning and decisions. They believe that an average salesmen has the ability to manage facility operations as long as they (senior management) review every decision.

If you like working in a stressful 
environment this is your job. At any given time you are doing five jobs at once.
 I worked this job for 4 years , And is the reason that I walked away from the medical field. 
This job should pay every bit of twenty 25.00  an hour for all the work they expect you to do.
On the day today you have walk in patients that you have to get records for at the same time, As you're sending in going and outgoing facts. 
What's to say that multitasking is a understatement for this position.
And let's not forget the emails that you have to watch too. 
 Then you have to burn the disks for the hospital,For patients For continuation of care or for legal reasons or whatever it may be, And you also process records for insurance payout. 
You  only have a 72 hour turn around time. But they're hounding you within one day. 
 they spring audits on you, So there will be times when you're there five hours past your shift. For a medicaid audit for a patient that doesn't wanna leave.
On top of state audits as well. So why you're trying to do your regular job? You're also working on state audits at the same time.
 let's not mention that as a team member of this place.
 The health information management office does not see you as an equal because you're not part of their facility, if you work third party like I did.
I make more money as a school custodian, that a medical job.
10 out of 10 do not Recommend.

I was an operations manager at VRC for a year to help with the transition of our facility and operation over to their operations model. Handshakes, phone calls and senior level meetings from the beginning, leading me to believe that my management and operational experience could benefit their transition process. This Company's "transition team" that comes into a new company acquisition following its purchase by VRC is representative of the "land of broken toys". Their senior staff are comprised of individuals that could not function in similar roles with any organization other than with VRC. VRC is an oasis for dysfunctional leadership where one year of experience thirty times has more value than loyalty to their employees. A typical day at VRC is comprised of trying to perform your job while trying not to appear to know more than your leaders who cannot handle the perceived competition. The only enjoyable part of the job was that as part of the transition agreement, we kept our original, loyal employees, most of whom left after experiencing VRC's management model first hand.

My role involved indexing case files and occasional prepping, often with graphic crime scene images. The work was monotonous and quickly became dull.

I learned to stay composed in distressing environments. Unfortunately, the toxic atmosphere created by poor leadership overshadowed any growth.

🧑‍💼 Management
Unprofessional and unsupportive. Meetings were hostile, my name was constantly misspelled, and during a hurricane, we had to use PTO or go unpaid. I was laid off shortly after a sudden schedule change—despite public claims that layoffs were over.

🏢 Workplace Culture
Unhygienic and tense. Employees had to take out their own trash. Public KPIs and unsolicited comments from coworkers added unnecessary pressure.

⚠️ Hardest Part of the Job
Disrespect and erratic leadership. Communication was poor, and I was publicly insulted—including having papers snatched from my hand.

✨ Most Enjoyable Part of the Job
None. The experience was entirely negative.

⁉️ Workplace Reflection
This job was disappointing from start to finish. I was the last person hired and the last to know I’d be let go. It was embarrassing and infuriating. I deserved better.

If you need a steady job while looking for better, go ahead and apply.
But if you want to make a career, look elsewhere.  

-It all starts at the top, with poor (mis)management.

-It seems corporate is more worried about "what-ifs" and "maybes" instead of reality of the day-to-day activity.

-They have plenty of excessive security policies that do nothing more than complicate simple processes.

-You should expect minimal pay with few, if any, opportunities for advancement or significant pay raises.  

-Their yearly performance review is a joke, with reliable employees often only being given 30 cent raises.  

-A pro is that the hours are fairly consistent, unless management get in over their head with a project and need to extend hours for more productivity.

-Don't expect loyalty from the company.  I've seen a person let go with one day's notice just because management couldn't find work for them.

-Break Room and Restroom Facilities are lacking!
Employees are not allowed a break room microwave (justified by some ridiculous fire code policy).
And about 20 men are forced to share one toilet in the whole facility.
(One former employee would hide out in a second bathroom, so the second bathroom was shut down and never re-opened.)

What is the best part of working at the company?
not too demanding, During Covid they had less workers it should be up to full capacity now

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The only issue I had was THE change over from the  route  Scheduling office in which the newer person Was a bit slower than tmy but I'm sure he Gained speed since I've been there and got everything down to a T/ Customers often requesting files at the very last minute but that has nothing to do what VRC itself that can put stress on drivers  and the warehouse when Customers need something at the very last moment Other than that the job is easy

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Delivering to 4 to 5 locations on average and retrieving files bringing them back before the afternoon Then the afternoon runs are typically the same every day may be similar or different. Again though when I was it was during Covid  a lot of customers weren't as active The deliveries Now might be a bit more or it might be the same depending on the drivers as well
