Culture-
Management has clear favorites  & they will make it very obvious by giving them a lot of passes and no write ups for broken rules. The workplace culture is also very much a high school environment. Cliques and all. 90% of the staff are friendly but there are some that treat new hires like they don’t exist. It might be because of the high turnover rate but it’s quite uncomfortable. Almost all of the supervisors lack warmth and support.  Subtle micromanagement. Most of your support will come from other staff members not management. They will only step in when it becomes too severe. Management will answer questions, though. 

Training -
I  don’t think the “training” will prepare you. They will give you 2-3 days of “training” then they will throw you into it. The training will consist of shadowing other staff members 2-3 times but there are so many clients that it will not be enough. They will say you are not allowed to be around the aggressive clients until you are fully trained but that is also false. CPR, Pro-Act, & nurse training are laughable. You will learn more off of YouTube. Which is unfortunate because there are clients with epilepsy, allergies, and choking-risks so their lives depend on poorly trained staff. Trial and error seems to be the way management wants staff to learn. 

Typical day-
The schedule is great M-F 8am-2pm unless you want more hours. There is no overtime. 1 hour staff meetings at 3pm once a month. No weekends and no holidays.  Lunch is paid but you will be working during that duration so it’s not  a real break. We are also entitled to 10 minute breaks but you will hardly ever  get them because of understaffing. They will say that transporting clients is optional but they will frown upon saying no. It will not feel like a request but rather a demand. The reimbursement for it is not worth it unless the client lives nearby. A typical day will include creating a schedule with your client which are based on their goals and encouraging them to do those tasks. Outings to the mall, park, library, and other places daily usually from 10-11:30am. The problem with outings is that there is not enough room  on the company vans so a lot of the times you will have to stay behind and hope your client doesn’t get too upset. Lunch is after. Transportation to take clients home begin around 1:30pm. You are supposed to have the same client MWF & a different one T Th but the schedule is hardly consistent. It will change almost everyday so it is hard to prepare for a client. Especially because staff  is expected to watch other clients while the assigned one arrives so there is not much time.  

The severe behaviors-
Some of the more severe behaviors include but not limited to-
 Spitting, biting, scratching, punching,  yelling, pulling hair, eloping, and false allegations. Some clients need assistance with the bathroom and some like to pick at it or throw it so a strong stomach will be needed. Wiping or changing diapers will be needed with some clients. 

Final thoughts-
I think this job has the potential to be great with a lot of tweaks. How good the day is will depend on the client . Burnout is very real here so self care is a must. The pay is substantially less than what the job asks. This is a good temporary starting point in the field so learn as much as possible but leave as quick as possible. The hardest part of the job getting to know all the clients behaviors and habits and learning how to navigate them. The best part of the job is the schedule. 

P.S. you will have to get a tb test, livescan, dmv records, a physical, and a drug test prior to starting. It will cost you around $150+ and you will only get reimbursed half of it. 

I generally feel good about coming in each day. I am busy most of the day, but given time to keep up on my daily duties. I have learned much about the company protocols and procedures. As well as a lot about dealing with the clients. The management team is mostly positive and helpful. The workplace culture is mostly positive and productive. The hardest part of the job is covering all the daily job coach call outs, and then dealing with client's aggressive behaviors. But the staff is very responsive and efficient in dealing with these situations. The most enjoyable part of the job is the friendly clients and staff members I get to interact with. I usually go home feeling good about my day, and that I have served a verry important purpose. So far I like it a lot, and  look forward to the opportunities to grow, learn, and perhaps move upwards. Thank you !

Working with clients is rewarding itself. Communication between management to job coaches is almost non existent. There is favoritism from management that affects the work morale and causes animosity among staff. Very little support from management, if a client has behavior, not all CMs are willing to jump in and give support.  Current PD does not help on floor at all and continues to bring in new clients while canceling current clients. Current PD had blatant favorites and offers very little support and often gives negative responses when approached by staff with concerns. Clients often come in under the weather and management will not allow transport to refuse client at pick up. CMs often cancel clients while JCs are out doing transport and give no notice of cancellations. 

They have a schedule of two clients ur supposed to have but be prepared bc they don’t even give you the clients on your schedule. You will get random clients and have to check the board every day and some clients have way more behaviors than others and you just have to adjust to it because management chooses who you get for the day. If you don’t transport clients in your car you’re only getting 450 a week which in my opinion isn’t worth what you have to deal with onsite. Management has favorites and is even friends with two of the girls who currently work there because they were so desperate for ppl to work because people keep quitting due to the poor management. The only reason i stayed so long was because of my coworkers and the clients not because of the company. I would not refer any of my friends to work here, hope this helps!

Not recommended for those with Misophonia as the constant stimming can cause overstimulation  or those that Value an active lifestyle or  fast paced environment as is mainly a Prolong sitting position ……

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Some co workers are helpful and others show up to work with a nasty attitude as if they don’t want to be there

Working in this adult daycare, you’re basically assisting your client making sure they’re safe

The work days are not too long and it’s a set schedule. You need to have compassion and patience to work in this type of environment. Personally, I don’t think you get paid enough here so that’s why I feel some people don’t really care sometimes and it’s sad to see. The management isn’t the best at times but some staff make up for it. The hardest part are the behaviors and how you deal with them. It’s rewarding to see your work make a difference with an individual but again, you have to care. If you don’t like getting your hands dirty and taking a punch, scratch, bite.. then I’m sorry but this is not the place for you. 

This is a good company to work for. The company has grown a lot over time and they're only getting better and looking for ways to improve. The client's definitely have behaviors often however Management is quick to step in and assist the job coaches, I've even seen the Program Director and Administrator step in on the behaviors themselves. Supervisors honor the job coaches work', and management gives the job coaches a raffle every Friday to win Starbucks or Gas cards, etc.. seems like at the end of the day they genuinely care and want to give back wherever they can since the job coaches have to deal with a lot. Pay is average, employees have are team-oriented and fun, and management is supportive.

Mayfair gave me the opportunity to work in a field,  that id never ever dreamed of working,  they taught me, that special needs, give us the LOVE and warmth and more understanding then most people, they CARE about you, that is so pure and precious,  4 me its HARD to  explain in words but my Heart is so full of LOVE they give me, i get up set WHEN im off but when you come back they all tell you they miss you, love you glad your better, when i ever have 2 retire, my HEART will be Broken because they all are my family, even my co-workers God Bless you All

It’s a great place to work management is always looking out for their employees making sure we are ok and nothing is needed. Management makes you feel right in and overall the staff are friendly and helpful as well. My most enjoyable part of the day is caring for The clients because no day is the same everyday is a good experience they make you feel loved at all times they are fun, happy, kind, lovable and most of all caring.

I'd give this place negative ratings if possible. Pay sucks, management has favorites, high school environment, raises suck, director is manipulative, you have to buy your own supplies because staff doesn't share supplies facility provides, make new rules and enforced them when they pleased, staff is unappreciated, consumers are out of ratio almost everyday, you must pay for your love scan and you are reimbursed only after completing 90 day probation but you must remind them.
