Volare Health is, without question, the most challenging management company I have worked for in long-term care. Many of their operational processes do not align with how nursing facilities are managed in Louisiana from a regulatory, reimbursement, and compliance standpoint.

One of the biggest concerns is that corporate leadership appears to be heavily nursing-driven, with very few individuals who have actually served as Nursing Home Administrators. As a result, decisions are often made without a full understanding of the operational, financial, and regulatory responsibilities that administrators face daily. Corporate nursing personnel frequently dictate operational decisions that should be left to facility leadership.

Admissions are another major issue. Facilities have very little control over the patients they are expected to accept, often receiving admissions that are not appropriate for the facility's capabilities or census strategy. Unsafe hospital discharges are also a recurring concern, creating unnecessary risk for residents, staff, and the facility.

The company continues to push restorative aide programs that may make sense in other states but are difficult to justify in Louisiana, where reimbursement does not adequately support the additional labor costs. Facilities are expected to absorb these expenses without seeing a meaningful return.

Another frustration is the excessive number of meetings. It seems there are meetings throughout the day, every day, which significantly reduces the time administrators and department heads have to focus on resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and overall facility operations.

The facilities are filled with hardworking employees who genuinely care about residents. Unfortunately, many of the corporate expectations and processes create unnecessary obstacles that make it difficult to operate efficiently and successfully.


This was one of the most dysfunctional and toxic workplaces I have experienced.

Executive leadership operates without a clear strategy or long term vision, resulting in constant chaos. Teams are abruptly reorganized or eliminated, employees are fired or laid off with little warning, and decisions feel reactive rather than thoughtful. There is no stability and no confidence that leadership understands the downstream impact of their choices.

The culture at the top is rooted in intimidation and retaliation. Speaking up, questioning decisions, or offering professional input is discouraged and often leads to being targeted or pushed out. Psychological safety does not exist.

Communication is poor, priorities change constantly, and employees are expected to absorb the consequences of leadership failures. Morale is low, burnout is high, and turnover is a direct result of how this organization is run.

While some employees genuinely care about the work, the executive team consistently undermines them. This is not a safe or healthy environment for professionals who value ethics, transparency, or stability.

I have been with the companies for almost 9 years now. I have had many chances to advance and when your hard work and dedication is noticed, you will as well! I enjoy the work/life balance that my position provides me and my family. One of the top priorities currently is  on Employee Retention and Engagement. I believe that Volare is trending in the right direction. Workplace culture is turning around. The bad apples so to speak are seeing themselves out. This is allowing the new generation to thrive, from Dietary, Nursing staff to the Corporate level. 
I enjoy meeting with the staff and residents in each facility. Prior to Staffing, I started  as a CNA. I was then able to work in the Recreation department, Staffing and HR. My hardwork did not go unnoticed and I was asked to join the Regional Staffing team. I absolutely LOVE my position! I get to work with many new faces daily and help to minimize the staffing shortages. These unfortunately occur in every facility and hospital. When we each do our part and work together in harmony, it definitely lessens the impact, Boosts morale and patient care thrives!

Decent pay and smaller building

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Day shift and management. Management and scheduler plays favorites mainly with day shift. Some people just dont do their jobs so your stuck doing yours plus others. There's more oh so much more but it won't all fit. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. There are some good people but management plays favorites, all of day shift thinks they run the place, the cliques they have. Some people just dont know how to do things and act like their so smart.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get talked down to by management and day shift like the other shifts do nothing. Take care of residents with little help.  No ac so it gets toasty and you get sweaty. Low on supplies or equipment at times.

Quite possibly one of the most toxic work environments I have experienced.

For context, I was in a purely clerical, administrative type role during my short time with this company.

Executive leadership often communicated through intimidation. Feedback was discouraged in spite of being told the contrary.  High employee turnover and burnout was commonplace due to misrepresentation of role and duties, lack of support and coverage (and refusal to provide the latter), and inadequate training.  

Work/life balance was non-existent, with little regard to my personal time and well-being. I was often contacted at all hours, during days off, and during planned holidays. Getting time off to go to an appointment was often an ordeal.



Workplace culture is not the best. A few colleagues are helpful and try to work in a team like manner but a decent chunk are hostile, refuse to help, try to minimize the amount of work they do at everyone else's expense and will frequently question why you need help and insult you for asking. Management is generally pretty bad, assignments are not similar. Some CNAs are regularly given easy sections and others are given incredibly difficult sections, often the CNAs with easy sections are unwilling to help out and spend most of the day sitting around. Obviously a cna should be able to work any section, but there is favoritism in who gets assigned where. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Benefits are good and fairly priced. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything you have no idea when you will get fired, or yelled at by upper management. You also have a sense of urgency for issues that happen in other facilities. Everything is retro active, giving you many tasks that are not normally in your job description. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very toxic, everyone seems to like you on camera or meetings but will talk behind your back constantly. Decisions are not made on logic only on feelings. The owner yells at you and downgrades you even if you’re doing a good job. There is no winning here.

One of the highlights of my experience at Volare is the leadership team and their genuine commitment to ensuring staff satisfaction. While we've had some turnover, it's been for the best, as it has allowed the right people to thrive in the right roles. During my nearly two years with the company, I've had the opportunity to learn and grow in ways I hadn't at previous jobs. I've felt consistently supported, and I'm proud to have been promoted twice along the way! I am excited to see what 2025 will bring! The year of our employees!! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing. Very unprofessional and not a good company to be affiliated with. Benefits are the worst. The higher up staff is impossible to work for. Wouldn’t recommend for anybody.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The staff is very degrading. They treat you like you’re nothing.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Over the top stressful. They make one person do the job of five people.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sun up to sun down. You get worked to death while being treated like you’re beneath them.


Volare will try to give the illusion that they care for their staff and residents.. sadly the executive team is only numbers/profit driven. 
The Volare corporate team runs on poor communication, fear, and reactive business strategies. The Owner, CEO, and SVP of HR feed into an extremely toxic work environment leaving me feel insecure in my role, unsupported, and unable to effectively do my job.

Within months of beginning my job my role changed and my compensation was lowered.  I feel that this was a very difficult company to work for.
