WAHVE

The process to qualify as a WAHVE is extensive.  They require 25 years of experience.   They will present available positions to you all over the country.  It is all remote work but the hourly pay is low because WAHVE takes a cut.  There are many different people to deal with at WAHVE and it can be confusing.  

The placement I had was in Florida, I live in Oregon so it was a bit of a stretch - and I learned a lot about a very difficult insurance market as well as many high tech options to be used for efficiencies.  

The hardest part was being remote and not having access to the rest of the team immediately.  As insurance is generally urgent, it was difficult to have to wait 4 hours to get answers to questions.  

I did enjoy being able to share my vast experience with a very small agency and help them to standardize procedures and put some practices in place which will help them in the future. 


A few years ago I worked an assignment with this firm.  I was told that the agency that I was placed with had an agency management system.  As it turns our, several days in to the assignments, I found out that the agency did not have this type system. This was like sending a carpenter to a job to build a house with no tools.  

This proved to be a large con to the job . The assignment lasted for me about a month.  I was very disappointed in how this was handled.  The way that the assignment was provided to me showed that the in take for this placement was done totally wrong.  

No one can work without a formal agency management system.  I feel that I was blamed for what happened here.  I tried to get the WAHVE management people involved in this to resolve this-as it turned out the client did not want to continue.  

I was disappointed in how I was treated in what happened.  The staff of WAHVE was very nice.

I have been on the WAHVE team for the last three years, and I can't think of a better group of people to work for, and with.  They are friendly, personable and a true family.  

I thought that I would miss going to a traditional office, but every time I take a break to get coffee (in my kitchen) and watch the traffic report, I remember the hours that I've been given back thanks to no commute!  

With today's technology, I use my computer, Skype and VOIP phone to stay in touch with the team, and I don't get distracted with people popping into the office to say "hello".  I'm much more productive because I can prioritize my tasks and set my own hours.

While they can't guarantee everyone a job, the WAHVE in-depth screening process allows them to understand what you are looking for in order to make the best possible match.

I really have enjoyed working for WAHVE. I have been very fortunate to be placed with an excellent client and have challenging work. The one challenge has been knowing my salary needs, as this is my first experience as an independent contractor and feel that my Relationship Manager needs to be more supportive of me, as a worker and more supportive of my financial needs. A word to the wise- know your financial requirements before agreeing to contract terms, as you are your best advocate. My experience is that there is no support in this area. The most enjoyable part of the job is doing what I love and not having to get in a car to drive to the office.

The people were great to work with I missed them when my assignment ended.

Hardest  part of the job was when my assignment ended, you make a lot of friends its hard to leave. You do not know when your next assignment will start so there is no stability.  The pay is not that much and there are no benefits.

The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the people and feeling that I am helping them.  I can start work early from my home and do not have to drive anywhere.  If the assignment is out of state like NY  I can start at 6 am my time and off work at 2:00. Due to the time change.

Your day working for them is in your hands. Work the hours you are required and the rest of the day is yours. I have learned a lot more detail in insurance from the job I was matched with. My immediate manager was great and very helpful. I can't comment on work culture. I was always on my own. The job was not hard. The hard part was when my 7 year contract expired in getting them to place me with another. The job I was placed with was the best work experience I ever had. A very good job.

WAHVE has provided an excellent placement with my current employer.  This job will end the end of June 2016 and the staff at WAHVE is working very hard to find another client.

Everything is done online and via phone calls, very easy to submit payroll information and staff is always courteous and kind.

Typical day is signing on and working with my assigned client, there is not a "hard part of the job" that I can think of at this time, working from home is wonderful!

It is a little bit of a learning curve working from home, getting to know your client and their specific needs but I would say this is one of the most pleasant of jobs.

WAHVE offers an incredible opportunity for insurance professionals with 25 or more years of experience.  They are more of a placement facility, in that, they find the most appropriate company where your skills and talent match the needs of the hiring company.  One must still interview with the hiring company to pass their test of eligibility and acceptance.  The hours are flexible.  There is no vacation pay, time or overtime.  Overtime work must be approved by the hiring company.  The health benefits are fair.  These positions are truly for individuals that only need residual income and are not interested in benefits of PTO or the like.  

After being with my last employer for 20+ years and going through restructuring, takeovers and office closures, I was excited to find a new home with WAHVE!  

I love being part of an organization where the leaders not only lead by example, but are supportive, encouraging and truly care about their employees.  As a virtual company, we work remotely across the country, but we're never working ‘alone’; we stay connected through phone calls, video chats & team meetings organized on MS Teams and even have semi-annual staff retreats!

Mostly, I'm proud to be part of a company that helps "pretirees" extend their careers without sacrificing their work-life balance!

After working in a stressful office atmosphere I found WAHVE and was able to utilize my experience and knowledge in a completely stress-free environment.  I now no longer need to commute and find the freedom of working at home wonderful.

While my current position is considered full-time I'm able to work only as many hours as necessary to complete my tasks.  My WAHVE teammates are completely supportive and helpful and the WAHVE leadership checks in with me on a regular basis to make sure all is good.
