I work at Washington Hospital for 20 years all those years were wonderful. I worked in all aread Medical Surgical Pediatrics Labor and Delivery Institute for Joint Replacement ED transport.
I learn team work and active listening to comunicate with patients and families I am always provide with education workshops to improve and also with Health Fairs where I learn how to take care of my health and my family.

When I started working in Intensive Care itvwas different then other units its face paced energetic. Tge nurses are excellent I see really incredible improvement of patients with the dedication of the Intensivist, RNs , RT, working together its really admirable.When there is a emergency allbthe team help the team help the RN in the case. Many times I witness miracles in the hands of all the team.
The patients and the families in many of these cases came back to thank the nurses and the drs after their incredible recovery and their is hugs and emotions I really admire the dedication all the ICU team and I am proud to be a minimal part of it.
In resume my experience wotking at Whasington is excellent I am very happy to be Working there and I show it with my dispositon and behavior towards my coworkers and the patients and families I work with

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing. Incompetent management that always takes advantage of the students/externs.

I was a student and got hired immediately with a condition of working graveyard ONCE a week.  It became 2-3 times a week until almost every night. Just before my 90 day probation ends, I was forced to resign or I'd get terminated because apparently was not as fast as the staff there that's been working for at least 5 years. I was technically still a student when I was working by myself graveyard. I was only trained for less than 2 weeks to do graveyard and then I was all by myself.

They will set you up for failure. Now I work with some students from this hospital who had similar issues.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They will consistently compare you to other more senior staff who has more experience. Instead of learning you are stressing and destroying your morale.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They don't want you to succeed, based on my experience.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressed out, exhausted, and makes you feel like you made a wrong decision with your career.

My work day was filled with lots of questions from other staff in the office.  I was in charge of doing daily statistics, monthly statistics, medical staff reports, other reports for nursing, quality assurance.
Plus I would have medical record corrections that needed to be done, passwords that needed to be re-set, cleaning out work queues in the hybrid EMR system, HPF.
The management was almost non existent.  They were busy, going to tons of meetings.  There was no management consistently in the office.
Most of my co-workers were good to work with. Although there are issues with morale in the department, only because there isn't a member of management in the department all of the time.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with the Finance Dept.  They were borderline harassing at times because I didn't have the stats in on time.  Sometimes this could not be helped, I explained this to them, but at times it did not matter. The most enjoyable part of the job was my ability to help people, whether it be the colleagues in my own dept or others within the hospital.  I enjoy helping, being able to assist.

Delegating job duties to one person instead of three is where the  compromise is located in the financial department. Management needs to step in and re-evaluate it's own situation before the new codes of ICD-10 plop on its lap. Was Washington Hospital one of the 83 places that got caught with a hefty fine for exploiting the CMM? As reported this summer.
A few personnel are trying to defining themselves as to where the line meets between the title of management and non-management.
Personally, one should find the management's desk and plop the paper work on "their desk" or mail cubby hole. It is not in the job definition or retention that one person does a three person's job. 
Management through finance department need to add extra paid hires to help cover the two voided space. OR find a way to organize its prioritized projects such as weekly audits. AND other such matters. Too many meetings means too little attention to the bottom line heading out.

Its not what you know but who you know, which is unfair, alot of cliques and if you don't belong to one your job is at risk.

Management
worst management ever. They promote within to non qualified applicants with no managerial training.

Culture
All around just a bad culture and the hospital just cares about profit and not the patient's. If you have morals and empathy not the place to work.

Overall
This place is for profit and not for the patient's. Alot of inexperienced leadership, hospital is behind years with medical innovation, union doesnt care about anyone, only the big contracts, its not what you know its who you know meaning family members working together in the same departments etc which goes against the rules. Bad leadership, job security compromised if you speak up when seeing bad patient care.overall wouldn't recommend.

I worked in ED Registration as a per diem.  Never given the hours promised.  Trained me pretty much in only one of four functions and had to work in same one for entire time there. Had to work 700 hours before probationary period is over.  Let go for too many errors (Learning Curve???), yelled at by Doctors and Supervisor many times.  Told "not to think!!!?").  Supervisor talked about to co-workers about me.  Mgmt by fear.  Let go because of an error, of which "none are allowed" (told this in those words).  Never called in sick in six months; asked numerous times to fill in shifts and always said yes.  Late once due to traffic.  My production was the same as others with 10's of years experience.  Let go for "poor job performance" just prior to probationary period ending.  My peers were my supervisors. Put up with it for pay and never confronted management for how I was treated.  Obviously, I should have.

The atmosphere was really great, everyone was very helpful. If I could, I would work there again

Some things weren't really explained very well.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good and structured. People are very helpful, even when you don't ask questions, or ask for help. They are always willing.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy at times. Usually if I was done with my work earlier than expected, then I would help another colleague.

Fast paced environment and highly stressful. The pay is good compared to most other hospitals in the area but doesn’t feel like enough for all the stress and work you carry on your shoulders. Management comes up with more and more things to make your job more difficult while they sit at their cushy office all day knowing nothing of what it truly takes to deliver direct patient care. I love working with the patients  but sadly that isn’t enough anymore and I am diligently looking for new work. This place also has constant nurse turnover

Being trained on the hospital policies as a volunteer, I was aware my role in the various departments I worked in:  Hospital front desk;  Gift Shop; Resource Library; Health Fairs; Community Outreach events; and leader of service leagues quilters group.  Enjoyed getting acquainted with the hospital staff and management and making guests, fellow volunteers, visitors and staff welcomed.   


There are several tasks that need completed on any given day. Your routine is your own. Mgmnt allows you to figure out what works out best for you to work effectively and efficiently to complete everything timely. They're respectful and easy to approach. I've learned an exceptional amount of knowledge in Medicare guidelines & the process of billing facility UB-92's.
