There is NEVER & WILL NEVER be a perfect place to work. Imperfect people carry out the mission of all companies.  Wekiva is a phenomenal place to work. I accept the good with the bad, and I can honestly say there is not a week that goes by that I am not grateful for being an employee for this great company. To give you a brief example of why I say this: I became unexpectedly medically sick within my first 6 months of employment, and had to be hospitalized. As a single mother of  4, I sat in the hospital worried about how my children would eat while I was there because our food was low at home, and being in the hospital I wasn’t in a position physically or financially to go shop. I was reduced to tears one night over the week I was hospitalized when I got a call from my oldest son saying that  a manager from my job came to my house that night and delivered gift cards to Publix Supermarket  to provide food for my kids at home while I was in the hospital.  Words cannot express the comfort that it gave me knowing they cared about me enough to show compassion to my children in our time of need. It truly humbled me because as a nurse I never dreamed I would be in that situation. This selfless act allowed me to rest and recover without stress or worry. Now to some people, that may be just a minor thing; for me at that moment, it was priceless. It speaks volume about the caliber of people that I work along side 3 days a week for 12 hour shifts at a time: None perfect. But all good at heart. Truthfully, will you find someone employed there that you think “SMH why are they even working in this field? My answer=Yes. However, my point is that those people are everywhere. Bottom line, the few are NOT the majority. And in my opinion our core foundation from the staff to management is stable and AWESOME.

Nurses talk down to you. Management treats you like garbage. If you a nurse this job is wonderful. You get to sit in your rear and sleep while your techs do everything for you.
 You have to do rounds every 15 minutes. In between rounds you had to clean, do paper work, laundry at a facility that was a distance from your floor, the bathroom was even off your floor. It was awful. Put it this way- rounds every 15 minutes- that would take at least 8-9 minutes bc you have to stand in front of each patients bed with a flashlight and count the pts respirations for thirty seconds, then step to the next pt, then to the next room. And the cameras are checked by risk MGMT every morning to assure that you spend more than a minute in each room. That gives you just a tiny bit to run your rear off. 
Come vitals time it sucks. Nurses will seldom help you. And you have a certain amt of time to do them...in between your rounds.
The nurses are awful, the other techs are worse, and MGMT does not listen. Techs quit 
You can look and see that Wekiva rarely has nursing positions available. Tech positions constantly. It's a very poor work environment

A typical day at Wekiva Springs was that there wasn't one. Each day presented with new patients to access vitals ekgs admission type work which usually took an hour of your day. Documenting behaviors and concerns as well as accompanying patients to group sessions to chart processing of patients. Coordination and   transporting patients to physician for medical conditions while impatient. The best part of this position was that it was so diverse and having the ability and opportunity to brighten their day with positive energy and guidance. 
I learned during my employment that I have developed skills for a fast paced, always changing work environment while continuing team work at the highest level.
The most enjoyable part of this job was seeing that the positive care and empathy combined with encouragement and structure, which is what it takes for them to succeed at getting well.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part about working here was not having to drag a cart around to pass meds. Most of the time the people would line up at the window for their medicine.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about working for this company was all the back to back admissions. Charting was also stressful b/c everything is done by paper. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment was negative and the employees are messy. The supervisors do everything but supervise.

Of I could have chose 0 I would have I wouldn’t allow my pet hyena to stay here

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It’s filthy disgusting and the pay is so low the meat store across the street pays $2 more to cashier the patients are treated like prisoners and corporate pretends to care but the don’t or there would be changes made

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
My fellow techs are awesome but majority of the nurses are cruel and ghetto

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Complete chaos for 12 hr shifts

When I first started working at Wekiva client care was our number one goal. To insure that they had the proper food and counseling sessions needed for their treatment plan. Every aspect was done according to the guidelines.

Soon after I began working the budget changed and the Men complained of not having enough food. The evening snack would consist of Peanut butter and bread.

With the budget being cut, the counselors had to be decreased. So in my opinion the patient's care suffered. Many checked out of the program.

Majority of the day consists of writing, implementing, and reviewing treatment plans and goals with patients. Discussing discharge plans and discharge planning. Management is unresponsive to department complaints. There is a sense of pressure for finding housing for patients who have little to no income, resources are limited. Staff is supportive and friendly. Social Services department works well together. The most enjoyable part of the job is the bond with co-workers. The worst part of the job are rapid re-admit patients, and the expectations to find housing and secure benefits without having the appropriate time.

This is the first company I have worked for that has been as accommodating as they have been! I am a full time nurse here and they do everything they can to work with your availability and also provide any education and teaching you need. The staff is beyond great and it’s always a good time walking into work. My husband is deployed right now and we are expecting our first child soon and they have been spectacular keeping in touch with me and making sure not just my work life is okay but also my life outside of work. I love it here and I can’t see myself anywhere else! 

Leadership does not support, guide, or encourage their staff. This company does not hold leadership accountable for what goes on within their departments. Poor structure and does not like change or new improvements. I wouldn’t recommend working for a company that ignores issues until everything unfolds and corporate gets involved. Poor leadership, not a teamwork environment, and no diversity! 

you will def. need to use your time management skills! There will always be something going on and 5 things to do at once. UHS (company that owns Wekiva) cares about $- for instance if the hospital drops down to a certain census, they will cut a full time staff member and freak out. The census could go right back up two days later, so instead of waiting and let it even out....full time staff has to use their PTO. 
Its a good gig right out of grad school and you will learn a whole lot.
