Clinical programs are chronically understaffed, which leads to clinicians being overworked in terms of caseload, documentation, and performing duties for unfilled positions. Supervisors are generally supportive, but the supervision given often feels superficial and overly-focused on completing documentation on time and meeting quotas for the program. Clinicians are typically given plenty of leeway with diagnosing and choosing interventions, so it's a good environment for someone who values independence. However, some program directors will step on your toes if they believe it fits the "needs of the program" (eg. asking you to continue assessing a high risk client instead of sending them to the emergency room, pushing duplicative services on clients). Supervisors will pay lip service to your concerns, but don't expect anything to change. You will be left feeling as though the company prefers you to focus on billable services over actual client needs.

Good for a brand new clinician to learn basic clinical skills and become accustomed to the ins and out of community mental health, but not a place to stay long term if you value professional development or expect regular raises. Clinician pay is middle of the road compared to other agencies in the area. Co-workers in the clinical programs are mostly supportive and passionate, often as you commiserate about the above mentioned shortcomings of the company. You will feel as though you're making a difference in serving an underprivileged community, although management decisions often make you wonder if you're really just supporting a scheme to fleece the state of Husky reimbursements.

Working at Wellmore was the most rewarding and also disgusting opportunity. The women and children in the facility were amazing, and I enjoyed working with them and helping in any way possible as that was my job. However many of the staff including the program manager when I was employed last summer were truly just small people, they would use their power over the women and children in the facility who were there for nothing other than help, the staff would withhold and reject client privileges, rewards and anything remotely considered fun. Staff constantly ignored handbook rules that were given to women in the program and would make up new rules and standards as their time their progressed. After being employed for about 6 months I decided to leave as I was mentally exhausted being the only support system for 8 women in the facility, working 8-16 hour shifts alone, on top of constantly being interrogated and questioned by the program manager who stayed in her office working on her school work most shifts. 
The women and children facility at wellmore has so much potential to be a truly amazing support system for the women and children in the community struggling, I truly hope they are able to find compassionate, empathetic staff and management so that the women and children stay and complete their programs with encouragement. 

I loved this agency when I initially joined but after a few years, the issues began piling on. Caseloads were so high no one was benefiting (myself OR clients), staff were dropping left and right from the burnout, and my health took a dive due to the stress of managing 70 clients at once, documentation, meetings, etc etc. It was just as hard to watch my coworkers deteriorate as it was to deteriorate myself. When the team brought up the collective burnout to our supervisor during a staff meeting, we were completely invalidated and forced to argue our point on why we were burned out (after losing half of the team in about a year…). I ultimately left because my doctor was concerned about the toll it was taking on me physically and it was clear that nothing would change on the management side following that conversation. The coworkers were phenomenal which made leaving that much harder, but until something drastically changes for the better in terms of adequate pay and staffing, I’m afraid this cycle is going to continue. 

A typical day would include one or two meetings or intakes, completion of notes, treatment plans, evaluations and referrals, seeing several clients, returning phone calls to clients and collaborating with other community supports. I have learned a great deal about evidence-based practices and group facilitation, with ample opportunities to practice new skills in a very supportive environment. Staff, including management, are warm, knowledgeable and always willing to support their colleagues. The hardest part of the job is meeting productivity and paperwork deadlines, while continuing to provide sessions at a beneficial frequency to a high caseload of clients. The most enjoyable parts of the job are consulting and celebrating successes with colleagues, participating in staff events, making breakthroughs with clients, and increasing clinical skills and experience to a significant degree.

Underpays and overworks. I was there for many years and only got a small measly raise. Upper management is out of touch with the workforce. They only care about numbers and data to impress donors and board of directors yet nobody ever gets a raise or significant grant increases for programs. Why?  In addition, Wellmore was probably the only agency to go back to the office when covid19 hit that same summer and forced most of their employees back into client homes in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. So many unethical and unsafe practices all in the name of looking good on paper at the cost of their employees' mental health and sanity. They (management) also like to blame the employee for mistakes, burnouts, and speaking up about unethical practices/self advocating and never take accountability for their mistakes. As such, they push employees out rather than fire them. Career advancement is also very poor and extremely limited. On my exit interview, I was indirectly reprimanded for leaving the company. They were basically saying: "How dare you leave us?" Why wouldn't I? Stay away!

Trusted to get your job done without micromanaging. Flexible work schedule after you have completed your 6-month intro period successfully. Truly a team effort to provide the best customer service to employees and clients. Incredibly devoted employees, many going above and beyond daily in the work we do; from administrative staff to front-line workers to Clinical and medical staff.  We need to continue to seek out automation and sharing of data where applicable. Lots of Fringe benefits to show employee appreciation; pizza truck, ice cream truck, smoothie truck, chair massages, hiking, bowling, company picnic,  employee referral bonus, raffles and giveaways at each event.  Annual bonuses based on performance and longevity is how they provide pay increases.  Lots of diversity among staff (and clients).  A joy to come to work every day.  Egos are checked at the door. Very well known in the community - been here 70 years, will be around another 70+ because the staff is committed to the communities and populations we serve!

Management
In general, managers at Wellmore Behavioral Health my personal manager was wonderful. Her manager was not a nice person. I even witnessed her throw a paper at another coworker over a typo.

Culture
Collaboration with my colleagues at Wellmore Behavioral Health is great. My role is pretty individualized but I was able to work with department heads and others throughout the organization effortlessly

Overall
My experience working at Wellmore Behavioral Health was good. I wish the pay was better and I had the opportunity to work from home a few days a week, I would probably still be there had that been the case.

A salaried position that offered flexibility and independent workmanship. It was necessary to maintain daily documentation and meet with clients and providers to maintain children/adolescents in their home environments.  Staff met weekly in clinical rounds with Doctors and Clinical Staff to review cases and direction of treatment. Staff worked collaboratively with other teams to develop treatment plans with specific interventions. It was a good place to work despite the difficulty of travel demands and limitations set by insurance providers. It was enjoyable to exercise collaborative practices with providers and families and seeing successful cases unfold.

I have been an IICAPS clinician for Wellmore as my field placement while in school to get my MSW. My experience with Wellmore has been really wonderful. While I cannot speak to the compensation piece of the job as I do not get paid, I will say that the work itself has afforded me so much growth as a clinician. I have been supported and encouraged by staff throughout my time here. There are countless opportunities for learning and honing my skills. I think what I have appreciated most about this job is being able to work alongside a mental health counselor that has been a huge mentor as a person starting out in the field, an experience that is unique to IICAPS. Additionally, IICAPS itself embodies the principles of social work and really allows clinicians to use strengths-based approaches and meet families where they are during times of crisis. 

Behavioral health organization extremely committed to the clients and community.  A mixture of very experienced, skilled professionals and newer, recent graduates. While Covid was challenging the company supplied masks, Covid tests, vaccination clinics and good communication, some hybrid work was allowed, did telehealth for clients who wanted it. Provided good resources for employees. Great place if you are invested in  community mental health. The work can be extremely busy at times, but that is what is expected in this environment. They provided a lot of perks for the employees, very good benefits , great PTO, food trucks a few times a year, family picnic, ice cream trucks, massage chairs, smoothie bars, raffles.
