My journey at Westminster Communities of Florida, starting in 2023 as a CNA in the health center, has been an overwhelmingly positive and enriching experience. From the very beginning, the collaborative and genuinely helpful nature of all my co-workers created an incredibly supportive environment, making my initial transition smooth and welcoming.

A typical day for me initially involved providing essential care as a CNA, where I honed my foundational skills. This evolved into a significant growth opportunity when I was transitioned to the Assisted Living Facility (ALF) to work as a Med Tech/CNA. This move was invaluable; it was a truly great experience to learn and master medication passing, which has been a crucial step in my professional development. I've learned an immense amount here, not just clinical knowledge but also the nuances of compassionate patient interaction and effective team collaboration.

Management at Westminster Communities of Florida has been exceptionally supportive of my career aspirations. When I began my LPN program, they demonstrated remarkable understanding and flexibility, adjusting my work schedule to accommodate my school commitments. This level of support speaks volumes about the workplace culture, which clearly prioritizes employee development and well-being. The hardest part, if any, is simply the inherent demands of healthcare, but the strong team ethic and supportive leadership make navigating challenges manageable.

The most enjoyable part of my job is undoubtedly the opportunity to provide meaningful care, learn continuously, and work alongside such a dedicated team. I am genuinely looking forward to continuing my career as a Nurse at Westminster Communities of Florida; it's a place where I feel valued, empowered to grow, and truly part of a community.


A housekeeper is a person who is hired to provide professional domestic services such as cleaning, laundry, and sometimes cooking and errands. Usually only wealthy households employ full-time domestic workers, though many dual-income upper and middle class families hire the services of a housekeeper for periodic household cleaning. 
Considered a luxury by many, employing a full-time housekeeper may involve providing room and board in addition to a weekly or monthly salary. This person usually does not have any involvement with children in the household, but rather is responsible only for keeping the house clean and orderly. He or she may or may not be employed to shop for and prepare meals. 
Part-time housekeepers, on the other hand, do not work for a single household, but rather visit several different households throughout the course of a week. They may work for an agency or company who places them with interested clients. Households that hire a part-time cleaners might request their services weekly, biweekly, or even monthly. Typically, a housekeeper working part-time is responsible only for routine, thorough cleaning of the home. 
Typical duties of a housekeeper include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, kitchen and bathroom details, along with surface cleaning. The person's exact duties are worked out between the employer and the housekeeper when discussing employment terms. In addition to private households, hotels, nursing homes and extended care facilities also hire staff specifically for housekeeping.

The typical workday consist of arrival at !!:00AMI,  go to the assisted living and health care centers to check the food service area. Making sure that it is properly stocked with menu items and that the food temps are properly recorded and all food stored are properly labeled and dated. from there I would go to the kitchen. In the kitchen I would check in with the Exec. Chef or the Director, From there I go to the kitchen, assist with the service of the lunch menu, and start organizing the dinner menu

The dinner menu must be ready about 3:30PM as the service starts at 4:00PM. At about this time I get a break for lunch. Upon return I relieve the cook who goes on a break, When he gets back I go back to the assisted living and health care centers to do the checks. 

Returning to the kitchen I supervise the breakdown of the cleaning of the kitchen


The environment created by the Director of Dining Services is  poor and disorganized. There is not a sense  of certainty in the leadership.
The schedule for training is haphazard and tardy, and promoting of team spirit is almost non existent

Another example of  the poor leadership is in the hiring of personnel and the scheduling of staff.. New people are brought on board.and, is not given proper guidance in what and how the department works and the standards expected. Because of this there is a breakdown in standards

The new CEO is working to make the environment better

They love their residents.  The overall corporate cultural policies are respectful and grateful of all employees as well.  There are too many at the corporate and management level that do not abide by these expectations.  They expect only perfection all the time and do not believe in praising for things well done, only pointing out needs for improvement.  Decisions regarding staffing, tools and resources to do the job are made by people with little experience in the particular day to day job duties that needs often go unmet.  Corporate adds high level, high salary titles during a front line staff hiring freeze showing what really matters to them.  Computer systems are too outdated.  Healthcare is a stressful work environment that we are reminded frequently runs on a tight margin prohibiting the allocation of as many resources as front line staff would like.  Limiting stress from IT problems is an action within the capability of corporate while so many other healthcare stressors are not. Facility level managers are held to high standards and frequent oversight in regards to budget items.  But very little emphasis or oversight is placed on their skills as communicator, leader, or professional.  Each year all the extra perks that this company has given its employees to offset the tough work environment that is healthcare, slowly chip away.

I did not have the greatest job offer there, but I did work in two different job positions there. Because I wasn't graduated from College yet, I was in the low class work field. I wasn't very excited, but was always happy to help and to support Westminster community as they have also supported me very well too. The managers were great there! I have always have loving and supporting managers. I follow their orders easily and was happy. I started off with Dishwashing (Diet Tech 2) which wasn't exciting, but I kept my work on until I returned to College as they have requested me. After I have returned for the Summer Break, I had a good opportunity to get promoted in (Diet Tech 1) working with the foods to serve there for the residences' request. I even got to show my work with my grandfather there and it was great working at Westminister. The people are lovely, the residences varies, some nice where others is grumpy, but they are just old and do not really have the mind to understand. You'll learn more there when you work there. I've gotten education through online training which is nice, because I've got paid. They have very nice benefits there if you work there Full-Time. I'm now have returned to College to get a better Education for a better future they hope for me to have, and that's their goal. Great People, Great Service, and Happy Residences!

I've been fortunate to have found Westminster! After working in the for-profit world, it makes all the difference working somewhere where the mission comes first.

There's a really remarkable culture of caring that stands out, from the very first interaction. People treat each other like family! The residents are always supposed to come first, and that's what matters most of all. Westminster is the good guys in an industry where bad actors sometimes commit shocking abuses, and they're committed to quality.

At the same time every workplace has its frustrations. In Westminster's case, its policies and procedures often feel as though they are designed to replicate 1980s-style factory rules. There's no flexibility or remote work permitted, and not a lot of room to innovate unless senior management signs off first. Benefits may be "great" by industry standards, but only so-so when compared to other major local employers.

People are the biggest asset. Don't forget that, and they'll prosper.

On the whole a wonderful place to work.

While there are positives about working here, but I feel this job has become overwhelming, especially after Covid-19. Managers aren't always helpful and turnover is quite frequent. Many employees who have been working there for many years believe they don't have to work as hard as newcomers. Many co-workers like to kiss up and get ahead when those who work the hardest are pushed aside. I have seen many decent employees leave because they don't feel they make an impact or feel pushed down by other employees. Residents are good, but aren't properly placed in proper care, many should be placed in memory care but simply aren't. As for Management, they come and go every year and no real guidance from HR, Administration, or Business Office. The sad part is their is so much potential for this place to be great, but as long as the corrupt employee are around and get promoted, the other employees will suffer and leave. 

I am a current employee with this company. I have been here for 2 years. I have seen MANY people walk in here with smiles and within their first 90 days their smiles are no longer there. Management is poor. The only thing I love about this place are the few residents that respect you and your hard work. Those seem to be the only people that notice your dedication. There is not anything enjoyable about this place, I leave here super drained. No organization, no guidance, no support. Covid-19 has really showed that you are "just a" for this company. God forbid there is something going on within your life, they will fire you rather than help you. Far as I know, when I first started here, there was some kind of work culture but now... I feel like everyday is my last. Two years no raise. Instead they antagonize you to not give you your raise. This company will work you to DEATH. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.  

Best part of the Job 
Is being the hero to the ones in need, son or grandson to those who are lonely, caring for those in pain, lifting those who are in a low spot, and always putting a smile back on the residents face.

A typical day at work 
come in and see work orders that need to be done prioritize them. Meet with the administrator discussed what needs to be done. Formulate a plan where 1 cos, 1 janitor, 1 maintenance director, and 1 administrator can get everything done. ( we don't have a cos at the moment) Then you go as hard and fast as you can, till you get a call to cover the desk, then you go hard and fast as you can, take lunch, cover desk for other to take lunch, hard and fast as you can then go home. 

Hardest part of my job
Juggling everything as work orders come in and request from the office are asked because we are the smallest but most talented team there is in all of Westminster. 

Workplace culture 
we have suffered together through tough hard times which has made a strong bond between us. We are very tuned in and it is very obvious when someone is out.

Westminster Woods on julington creek is a beautiful community.  Most of the residents are sweet and easy to be around. HR staff is nice and easy to speak with. 

As for the employees, if you are a new hire and are in training, expect the person training you to be livid about given the task.  They will bark you down in front of people and say move just get out the way because they know their job and just want to get it done. Doesn't matter it you are attentive and willing to learn, its their way or else so you must stand their like a statue and apply for other jobs on your phone. Even if you're a kind person who stands up for themselves trust me it's a waste of time. All they will tell you is "watch you gon learn" because they want you to have a bad attitude like them. Don't waste your time if you really care to learn your job. If you're a narcissist who wants things your way, perfect job for you.  

Again, the residents and actual job responsibilities it's self are easy to do. You just need a jailbird mentality to survive.
