Never in my life have I experienced such a HORRIBLE working environment. These people are biased, dirty, and look down upon the CNA's. Working here as your first experienced job is highly NOT recommended unless you want to be overworked and underpaid. It started off welcoming, but within two weeks of working here, staff was already being unfair with requesting time off and questioning MY call ins. The director of nursing looks at CNA's like we're nothing compared to the LVNs and RNs (most of them also look at us low and have us running errands that THEY have to do themselves). They used to give free lunches, but now they don't. They allow CNA's to make the schedules to which THEY are greedy about and take all the "easy" residents while the rest are suffering with heavy/difficult residents, and those are usually the 'favorites.' CNA's on their own are also toxic to the work environment, as they like to talk behind your backs and talk badly about staff in their foreign language. Unless they fix all of these issues, I will never recommend this to anyone. Once again, horrible, HORRIBLE work environment that I do NOT recommend to anyone. 

I loved working with most of the residents there. Some of the corporate people and management over the years have left a horrible taste in my mouth, oh if I could still taste. I was working in an office position where I could have completely worked from home but I was forced to work in the nursing home and ended up getting sick from COVID there. Instead of management informing me I could use COVID sick pay and not my PTO, they said, what's your address? We're going to send you equipment to work from home while you're sick. One of the only good things about this company is that they like to promote from within. Be very careful with every action you take. I was a very successful, loyal, and overall great employee and after one mistake of a text I sent that the wrong eyes saw, I was fired. I was a great employee for 8 years with no complaints against me and I have never been in trouble and I was fired for one mistake that I profusely apologized for. My advice to others is to work somewhere else. 

A typical day at Palm Valley, First thing in the morning I would acknowledge the residents, find out if they need anything and assist them with their care, comb hair, help them get dress, and ready to go to dining area.  I learned that a lot of the residents were all a lone with no family so the care that they received was very important and should be heart felt.  Some of my co-workers I felt were in the wrong business this was just a job for pay and no emotional attachment with their job. The hardest part of the job was leaving to go home.  You want to do so much for them.  I found myself becoming to involved. The most enjoyable part of my job was making my residents smile. There is one resident that told me she never had Mac Donalds coffee.  I brought her some and she cried, I thought look what a 65 cent cup a coffee means to someone, and their is one who said it's been a long time  that  she has had shoes on her feet, I brought here a pair and the smile on her face brings much joy to my heart and makes me think about all the things in life we take for granted.  I no longer work there but I try and go visit and sit with them once a week and they really appreciate my visits.

I only worked there as a weekend receptionist for just a very small amount of time. Work day usually starts at 10:30 - 19:00 (10:30AM - 7PM) and all you are doing is being the point person. Your job is to answer phone calls and re-direct them to Nursing Stations or any other office in the facility. You also have to receive packages and greet any visitors or patients to the facility. For me, this was a great experience because this is a customer service job and the skills that involved talking with people and giving them a smile on my face would help on my next job. The staff is completely diverse, but most of them would like to hang with me because of my race (I am Filipino and this facility had many Filipino staff members). I enjoyed the opportunity to give myself a work experience similar to a 9-5 job and the learning experience was great. However, some of the staff can be rude or unresponsive, some of the patients will annoy you, and there are chances of encountering angry/dissatisfied patients and relatives, either on phone or in-person. Regardless of what I've said here, it's still a good job if you want to practice your socializing skills and get a good glimpse on what mutli-tasking can be.

Good: Everyone works together as a team and makes you feel welcomed. If  you love to work they have plenty hours and you can learn a lot.  This job is fast paced and will keep you on your feet.  

Not So Good: Benefits are high, pay is decent (if you're new), no pay increases as promised, lack of staffing, staff speaks other languages for hours (making you feel left out a lot of times), after years no advancements and raises are promised and they keep putting it off and pretending it will be on the next pay. You must keep up with your work hours (they tend to not add up sometimes). Pay is lower then others facilities. No time to rest, too many interruptions during med pass (pharmacy, phone calls, family, etc) Desk nurse usually doesn't assist and causes delays in care. And seems Management cares more about staffing than their employees. If it wasn't for your co-workers the place would be a mess. If they provided increases as promised, lowered health benefits and incentives for the long work hours provided I would've given more stars.

In the 10 years that I have worked at Windsor, I can say that I have learned a lot as an LVN. From medication pass to treatments, admissions to desk I have done it all. Currently I am on-call, but always love coming back to work here. I do admit, in the beginning it was really tough for me, especially as a new nurse. But, as the months go by, you get your system down and time management kicks in and you're stress free. Administration as well as management changed a few times over the years. Currently, the administrator and DON are a great team and have been with us for as long as I can remember. I like that all the staff is like one big family and we convey that to our residents which makes them feel that much more at home. I would recommend anyone to work here who is willing to learn something new every day and take on challenges on a day-to-day basis. The skilled nursing part is a bit busy, so time management is a must. However, do not fret, pause, stress out or whatever. Just take a deep breath and relax because eventually, you will get through your shift and there are always people to help.

I work at Encanto Palms in Phoenix, AZ.  We work like a family there.  This is the best job I think I have ever had.  Not one person there works alone, we are a team.  I can honestly say that I have never had a job like this before.  The company makes for sure we have the supplies we need to do our job and offers us lots of benefits and bonuses.  Last week we had a celebration for all of our hard work.  I really could not be more pleased to work for this company, They are awesome!! My TEAM is AWESOME!!! And my boss is AWESOME!! they really make sure to praise and recognize their staff members.  I could not say 1 bad word about this place.  We have some caregivers that have been there for 20 years!!! This should tell you just how amazing this place is.  The work might be hard, but the we have fun doing it and our managers are there with us doing the work along side of us.  If you are a caregiver and looking for a CAREER and not just another job.....Try out Encanto Palms in Phoenix, AZ!!!! You will not find a better place to work.

I would review and set the Schedule for Preventative Maintenance and repairs required for the day. I gave my Assistant his schedule for the day. I made sure all documentation was complete for the day. I learned to interact with co-workers. I expanded my knowledge of Electrical Repairs. I helped to establish and maintain a new Computer system for Nursing Documentation. I learned a lot about Information Technologies. I enjoyed being part of the Management team and helped to create and implement ideas to improve the quality of life for our Residents. I chaired the Safety Committee which met on a monthly basis. The hardest part of my job was having to watch the decline of some of our long term residents. The most rewarding part was the feeling of Satisfaction i would get from completing a repair or project. I would get to see the outcome of my work.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Administrators and employees are great people who you can depend and create a great team. Corporate is also very helpful always puts their employees first I had the best experience at Windsor. I do regret leaving Windsor is true the grass is not greener at the other side. So far one of the Best companies I've worked for. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing at all stress was not an issue. The only thing that hit stressful times was Covid19 but since we had a great team we overcame it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very pleasant and cheerful. Great attitude. A very supportive staff helping each other. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Billing and collections, helping staff members, educating residents and residents family members with Insurances guidelines and assist with Medi-cal applications or Medicare part D.

* Come in and balance census to make sure that it is accurate for billing insurance purposes.

* learn different types of insurance for each resident that comes in and finding solutions that will help get services paid.

* management is good. Start the mornings off with a stand up meeting to discuss issues and news from the other day and coming up with solutions to fix them.

* workplace culture seems to be okay. People greet each other in the hallways and always seem to have a smile. 

* hardest part of the job is having to collect from people that are having difficulty paying off what is owed because they will fight or argue with you over the phone or in your face. I learned to listen and try to come up with solutions that will help cater to their needs.

* The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the signs of relief from families and/or residents knowing that they are covered and don't have to worry about financials.
