What is the best part of working at the company?
The health insurance benefits. Any procedures, tests, scans, etc. are free as long as they are done at the hospital. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Definitely call time. There is a high turnover. I believe in part, because of management. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful. In the department I worked in, it was hard to get breaks because the work was never ending. We had a high employee turnover. Always short empowered. Newer people would get hired & managers wanted them rushed though training. Not given time to learn. Then basically thrown into hectic work environments. Managers are not out for the best interests of the team. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy. Taking phone calls, turning over instrument sets, looking for lost or misplaced items, putting things away, trying to be efficient while feeling like management is constantly watching over your shoulder judging you & acting like your untrustworthy. It’s shameful. They should’ve been praising the longtime good employees.

Management has a divide & conquer mindset. They are hypocrites when it comes to stirring drama. They themselves are the drama.  Management creates riffs behind your back with your peers then will accuse you for their actions. You don’t get appreciated for a good work ethic. They are not uplifting, only threatening. Not trustable, no matter what they say to your face. I’ve been bullied for asking difficult questions they can’t answer. There’s a feeling of helplessness for fear of retaliation if you go to HR. Fortunately, in my department we now know how they are & don’t fall into their trap. My coworkers are great. Our teamwork is great. Unfortunately it goes unnoticed. Department  supervisor focus on the mistakes. Refers to our teamwork as “clicks”.  Not positive in anyway. Leads by intimidation. Pay is fair. Benefits are great. Honestly management is the biggest issue. There is no mutual respect. Hypocrites. 
It’s truly “do as I say not as I do” atmosphere. 

I really liked Wooster Community Hospital and never had a problem during my nursing clinicals or preceptor training while in college at the University of Akron. I was lucky to get an interview and subsequently a job. I found out that not everybody at Wooster Community Hospital was nice, though. My Unit Manager was the only person I ever had a problem with at Wooster. She was not nice. Nurses had actually walked off the unit (quit), so I wasn't the only one feeling the pressure. A relatively new grad flipped out and verbally attacked me one night. Unit Manager wasn't there so nothing was done. I know the new grad was feeling the pressure as well. I would like to go back, but don't want to take a chance on having her as a Unit Manager again. Sad actually.

Wooster Community Hospital is a great place to work.  They offer a lot of benefits and have knowledgeable, caring staff for the most part. 
Employees have to meet the strictest standards in order to work and maintain a position there.

If an employee can meet those standards, and can retain employment for one year, they can either choose to transfer departments; or they can remain where they are.  If they can't meet those standards in one department, they aren't given a chance in another before termination.  They're simply shown the door.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My coworkers were amazing, since it’s a small hospital parking is easy

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The Human Resources VP is rude and not helpful with HR-related issues. Upper management seems to stick together and they do not advocate for the staff. The hours could be really long. Often understaffed due to stressful work environment and poor pay. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The staff in my department got along really well with each other and we worked as a team, helping each other out. Management is another story. Director mostly stayed in her office and didn’t know what was going on in the department. HR VP was aggressive in her communication and unapproachable.

TAKING CARE OF ANY NEEDS A PATIENT MAY NEED, GIVING EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, DRAWING BLOOD REPOSITIONING PATIENTS IN BED,  TEST WALING PATIENTS, STARTING IVS, ABILITY TO GIVE MEDS. I LEARED THAT THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF PEOPLE AND IN ORDER TO GET ALONG WITH EACH AND EVER ONE OF THEM YOU HAVE TO ADAPT TO DIFFERENT CULTURES AND PART OF THE COMMUNITY. HARDEST PART OF MY JOB IS WHEN AN INFANT COMES INTO THE ER NOT BREATHING OR HAS A PULSE, PED FULL ARRESTS IS THE WORST PART OF MY JOB. I ENJOY THE PEOPLE, AGAIN THERE ARE ALL TYPES AND THEY ARE FUN TO GET TO KNOW.

Wooster hospital has been nothing shy of being one of the best places to work. The staff is amazing and very helpful, management is understanding and fair, it's a positive environment where true healing can take place. The 12 hour shifts make it easy to have a work/life balance. I love working for our community and can't see myself working anywhere else. Beats the heck out of the long term care struggle of no staff and working so many hours you burn out in a matter of months. I would recommend this job to any of my friends looking for Healthcare work.

They were very nice at first.  They lied from the beginning saying they needed someone older and has experience . Told me to ask questions and they will listen. Well that's wrong the manager of the dept. Does not like anyone saying anything she will basically ignore you and treat you bad. Which is wrong . Then they started acting weird when I asked about the raise I was suppose to get.  I worked hard there and they were just hateful do not recommend working there. Unless they get another manager and the HR is bad as well.

Professional staff is extremely dedicated and would often work off-hours in order to accommodate patient needs. I learned that less than half of the population has the ability to truly see themselves for who they are. The hardest part of the job is to find a way to motivate patients into realizing their health defects didn't happen overnight and that it will take a long road to recovery that they must consistently abide by. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the medical staff and patients. I've developed trusting relations that I will never forget.

This is a mission driven organization that is strongly focused on caring for the community. Administration and the Board are committed to remaining an independent community hospital, which means they tightly manage the finances to remain “who they are”. To some, this may feel “cheap” but I view it as a major positive component of working here. The financial focus maintains job security and does not take away from the strong focus on providing outstanding, high quality care.
