I was attracted to the idea of working hard and making more money on a flexible schedule, but looking back I regret taking the job and I do not want others to walk into this without their eyes open.

  I had this ideal vision of walking into nice little old peoples homes, I did not care about social class, or culture (I can take a bit of dirt and clutter,) and   sorting out their venous ulcers and swiftly  helping them to better health. 
Perhaps 10% of my patient s fit that nice neat plan.  The rest where mentally ill or extra ordinarily dysfunctional people.  


Sooo  not a bad job if you don't mind visiting roach infested homes, or psychiatric shelter homes with no real recourse to decline, or to accept 50 mile drive for one client who declines when you arrive, which can happen.  

It is flexible, the owners really are not too bad, and reasonably professional and efficient but its definitely a business model, they are getting extremely rich on back of  ARNP's hard work re reimbursement really does not reflect what money they are making, You are defiantly told you cant decline unless perhaps you feel your life is in jeopardy, a card I did not play but would probably require a police report lol.  

Looking back to my experience I cant un-see the nasty situation I had to view, and they became a kind of trauma amusing though it might sound , ( a dog bowl moving with cockroaches a foot away from an infant crib,  a leg wound full of maggots which  I had to remove, a man emaciated living alone with his dog defecating on the floor,  homes with results of incest, etc etc)

Unlike hospital experiences,these are experiences you have to deal will ALONE, and you have to repeat the visits unlike a random EMT visit which you can put behind you.
  No one there to hold your hand or have a laugh about it or to debrief. RN  Case workers are decent enough but they live in the comforts of the office and are under stress to take your wound notes fast, not to debrief you on the visual trauma you sustain lol, or to manage social needs of these patients.    
I stayed longer than I should as I was promised a large volume of patients therefore a higher salary but the company never produced enough patients to produce the salary they had promised me. 

 
If a wound healing is intellectually sufficient for you, (decision tree is what dressing to use on a wound that may not heal for 6-12 months with  repeated visits), and you dont mind driving hours in heat or rain for the sake of being a flexible schedule, and having your only social interaction  for repeated visits be with patients who are often psychiatrically extremely ill, AND you dont have to make a max ARNP salary,   this just could be your job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I personally did not have a great experience with this company. I am grateful for the job opportunity but be aware that you are on your own and management is pretty rude. Lead hired a bunch of friends while slowly replacing long term clinicians. If your area is busy, you will be removed from there and it will be given to a new inexperienced clinician.   You are expected to go to a patient’s home regardless of the fact that no one was able to get in touch with them and no contact was made. Management does care about your safety and you are expected to go to a patient’s home and make the visit regardless of safety or if patient declines. Management Will purposely give you patients who will decline services. You are responsible and get docked for missed visits, despite it not your fault. Manager will continue to give you patients who decline services, meanwhile blaming you for not making the visit. Also, I was bitten by a dog and expect to go back to that same home. Management also made fun of my accent humiliating me. Small budgets are given to buy supplies so it is not possible to purchase advanced woundcare products.

Manager was not nice and belittled me a lot

Very hostile, environment and favoritism.

My lead sending out emails to managers making things up that were not true

During my time at Woundtech, I was able to witness the transition of a company who believed technology innovations and providing the best wound healthcare service. To a company that only focuses on numbers. I know this very well since I was able to work under both leadership regime in providing data metric reports. The culture and future was shifted back in 2017/2018. Back when new investors came in and decided to shake things up by phasing out the original old heads and providing a new workplace environment. Despite all these changes, it did not help the turnover rate and it did not help employees grow within. The plan was to hire outside talent and keep the business agenda cost to a minimal. Anything to support the business continuity plan. I know this very well due to participating in weekly (Wednesdays) management meetings where such items were discussed. A message that would be constantly repeated by the COO. The COO would always make it clear that everything goes through him and that anyone can be replaced. I would also hear the growing concerns form fellow employees as they expressed their frustrations (e.g. lack of compensation). To summarize my opinion - unless you are applying for a VP/Director or LPN role. I would not recommend working for Woundtech.

The Management team  at the PR call center has minimal Wound Care knowledge are not Nurses with a Macro Manage style dictating a different rule every day. Both Managers are incompetent in their roles with no health care training who uses fear as a way of controlling staff . Staff are overworked , Nursing staff are not Consultants any more they are Data entry personnel who are required to transcribe data more than offering a true Nursing Support. The staff constantly receives verbal threats from both Managers , threats of loosing our jobs. There is no job security any more and the employee retention is low. If you are considering a job here make sure is with the US side not the PR side and be prepare to confront a pair of unprofessional Managers who only care about productivity not quality of the work. Yes they are good operational  but awful with Clinical knowledge which in term is what it is needed when dealing with humans. This Company has lost some credibility and value since the new PR Managers have taken place. Until that is change this job is a risky business. I do not recommend it!!!

I have worked here over a year was promised raises and promotions which never happened because upper management is always coming and going as well as they had many exemption to covid however being mobile, which gave the company more business! Yet they took advantage and told employees every ones raises would be exempt due to the pandemic and also refused to pay out for any one having Covid-19 at the very moment the government said there was no longer one mandated, and I may remind you many dedicated companies still offer this, the company just is money hungry.therefore leading to many employees unemployed and or with out pay if fired or till they returned! On another note the processes are always being changed and there is no consistency! The only reason I have stayed is I feel stuck here as many other companies are offering a low pay rate due to the pandemic as well as contract to hire with no benefits. I saw faith in this company when I started and now see very very little.

I have seen Woundtech improve significantly since I have been working here.  There has been a complete turnaround in management and personnel.  I feel proud to be working with such a company.  The company is very proactive in keeping us remote employees updated. We are actively being listened to and really do feel that the company cares about us.  The company has gone above and beyond my expectations especially around the COVID-19 pandemic where the government excluded us front line health workers from getting any additional benefits.  Woundtech has implemented benefits that go well above and beyond what my friends who work at hospitals and other places are getting.  Again, I can't say this enough - I'm so proud to be working for a high class organization like Woundtech.

At the end of the day you work many hours for the money you earn. Although it’s nice being out on your own, you are micromanaged  continually. All documentation must be in within 24-48 hours and often you’ll be documenting long after patients are seen. The training is minimal so pay attention to every detail and ask questions. They are always trying to improve the provider experience because that’s their sole income source and so very important role in the company. There is an array of support people to help, you out, but if you like multitasking and the home care environment, I’d say it’s worth a go. You might love it. Most of the patients are pretty nice and grateful for your care. It’s not a job if you’re a procrastinator or lazy. You won’t last.

Woundtech is expanding very rapidly which is great for job security. We are constantly hiring, looking for great talent and the employee morale because of it is definitely changing for the positive. The management team is listening more, there is a new suggestion box, there are more activities being done as a company and philanthropy is starting to evolve into more here. There is an employee committee that has been working to bridge the gap between what the employees are looking for and what management knows about. THey even started offering pet insurance. The place is really becoming a great place to work.

Management is very rude to field clinicians, they never give any pay increases. No matter how many wounds you heal, don’t ever expect to hear, “job well done.” Now they are “downsizing” the amount of clinicians in the field and asking employees to interview to fight for their own positions. The ones who don’t make the cut will be offered another position with lower pay. They verbally told me my pay would be higher than it actually is when interviewing then paid me less. They are not a trustworthy company and will not have your back. You are basically alone in the field. Multiple times have been in dangerous situations with patients. Non clinical people are reviewing new admissions.  No help from Case management or supervisors. 

If you need to keep your license current, then Woundtech is it. If you want a job with positive work culture, then Woundtech is not the job for you. There is no follow-through, and there is a lack of communication between staff, schedulers, management, and field staff. It is always someone else job. Your supervisor is someone in the position who knows nothing about how the company works. They always need to ask someone else and can never give you an answer. They are only concerned about getting the referral and seeing the patients, then they move on to the next referral. There are a few persons in the company who are dedicated and concerned, but the negative has overshadowed them.
