Shandy was a great place to work at initially, my direct teammates became my best friends. Great place to start off as a new graduate. However, staff turn-over is a problem right now hence the multiple openings in ST, OT, PT, admin, and patient schedulers. 10 hour days can be long and daunting but the 3 day weekends make up for it. PT and OT staff are given a 45 minute "admin time" for documentation however it is during your lunch and is not enough time to complete documentation impeding on your work-life balance. If you are good at documenting during patient appointments it works out however know that it impedes on the quality of care you can provide to your patients which goes against their company culture and motto. They don't have any clear good policies in place for behaviors such as biting, kicking, hitting and just have an incident report that never gets followed up on. Majority of your clients will have autism and behaviors which can be difficult to provide treatment to. Starting salaries are incredibly low compared to other companies (60k -low 70k range whereas other companies start at above 70k). Benefits are very poor with outrageously high deductibles and copays. The company has had two bouts of layoffs in the past year (the most recent one about 13 layoffs). They also got rid of their ABA program at one of the clinics and moved their administrators to work from home. All efforts to increase revenue and reduce finances. Our clinic manager told us it is expected that more big changes are coming and they are nervous as well. The company is pushing for high productivity and to see as many patients as you can with some doubling up to increase revenue as it is evident they are hurting financially. I am guessing they are playing catch-up from paying staff during COVID-19 with limited patients seen as well as reimbursement changes for PTA/COTAs. The turn-over of staff right now is incredibly high due to this as well as poor pay/benefits. The directors for PT and OT (based off communication with OT staff) do not have reasonable experience to provide adequate communication, and fit the role of a director. They had two previous directors who left the company who were excellent fits. The CEO seems very unprofessional in her appearance and is always trying to be super positive but is evidently struggling as well. I truly fear for this company's future. I will say it may be a great place for new graduates to learn and start off in, but they just restructured orientation and training from 6 weeks of slowly building caseload to a full caseload built within 4 weeks probably to keep productivity up and revenue up as well. They have an excellent bonus program to offset your low salary if you see 9/10 hours of patients a day but expect to burnout quickly if you are consistently meeting 100% productivity. Burnout is real here. 

Management expectations often changed without clear communication, making it difficult to know what success looked like. Feedback was frequently inconsistent, and there was little recognition when improvements were made. Concerns were sometimes addressed through disciplinary action rather than coaching or collaborative problem-solving, which created uncertainty and lowered morale.

Workplace culture:

The therapists and front-line staff genuinely cared about their patients and worked hard every day. Unfortunately, the overall culture was affected by inconsistent leadership, frequent policy changes, and an environment where employees often felt they needed to document every interaction to protect themselves. Open communication and trust between leadership and staff could be significantly improved.

The hardest part of the job:

The workload was extremely heavy, balancing patient care coordination, scheduling, productivity expectations, billing concerns, authorization concerns, and administrative responsibilities simultaneously. It was also difficult to meet constantly evolving expectations while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I was penalized for my child’s medical emergencies as well as my own illnesses.  I was hired with the knowledge I’d have a second person working with me and then when they left expected to manage it alone but faulted for any minuscule error while doing easily a three person job for one.  

They hire managers from the therapist with zero management experience and that alone has proven to be a challenge.  Everytime my manager was stressed, I would be blamed for something entirely out of my control, but when they were happy “everything was great”.  

The fellow RBTs and other staff were great! However, when starting working, it was difficult to get a pay higher than the $18 minimum base pay. I have a 4 year child psychology degree and 3 years of experience in child mental health that they barely acknowledged. 
The management is pretty inconsiderate of employees and even attempting to improve retention. There were times that shifts would be added for the next day last minute (without notifying me or asking) that I “couldn’t deny covering” because they added it just before their window where I “could deny” then I would get written up for denying anyway when i had a personal appointment scheduled. They also didn’t tell me you could submit unavailable time each week (with limits) and wrote me up anyway even though I didn’t know this policy. 
I left at a time that several other employees also decided to leave. I attempted to work with them and instead attempt to switch to PRN or Part Time within a 2 week notice. They told me “No. But you can switch MAYBE switch in a little over a month”. So I said, “I will be quitting in two weeks instead then”. THEN they try to get me to stay. If you treat your employees less than they are worth and like they are going to leave anyway, then they will. 
They mistreated many other employees. Writing them up for taking extra time for family member deaths and etc. 
Only good things is that they cared about trauma informed care and child autonomy (at least at my clinic). I’ve heard worse about other clinics. 

This company is definitely going down and fast. They cut out a lot of benefits and have been closing centers and firing departments of people at a time. They also changed several policies to make it harder to take time off even if its an emergency. Doctor’s notes don't matter, so that absence is going to cost you your hours for the rest of the week. Your hours aren’t guaranteed for the week if you have to call out even if its for 15 minutes to fix a flat tire. And you’re definitely gonna want to hang on to those hours because you only accrue 1 hour of paid time off for every 30 hours you work. Management has no idea what's going on and they don’t provide support even when you ask for it. The kids are incredibly sweet but that's the only redeeming thing about this job. I worked at one of the locations and have filled in at many others for weeks at a time because the turn over is so bad but they keep bringing new clients on anyway. The pay isn't where it needs to be to make this huge inconvenience of a company worth working for. I would only recommend this place as a placeholder/temporary job so that you don’t have a gap in your resume before you jump to a better company. Things were great in the beginning and they’ll promise all these great upgrades and opportunities and rewards but none of it will come and if it does, it won’t be what was promised. I’m pretty disappointed that this place didn’t live up to the hype but at least I see it’s flaws in enough time to jump ship.

The Shandy Clinic has been a wonderful place for me to grow as both a clinician and leader. I have been able to pursue interests and help contribute to specific programs based on my career goals (e.g. feeding, literacy, behavior management, AAC, etc.). The company is moving toward hiring more senior staff members to allow for mentors in these areas for younger team members, but also allows all team members to have the opportunity to lead and educate others (e.g. taking on students, presenting on areas of interest, etc.). 

Although insurance changes has shifted the model of the company slightly, the interdisciplinary approach taken at the Shandy Clinic is truly one of the best things about the job. Being able to collaborate with ABA, PT, OT, Psych, and Speech has taught me valuable information and skills that I am able to apply to so many patients and has made me a better therapist. 

The new ownership is actively moving the company in a healthy directions for growth and sustainability and I couldn't be more excited to see what the company will be able to offer in the future. Naturally, some growing pains happen here and there, but overall I would say that Shandy has great opportunities. 

I started at Woven Care when it was still the Shandy Clinic back in 2021. My first position within the company was an RBT for the ABA department. I felt like the training was very up to date and extensive, and I was well equipped for my job. The BCBAs I worked under were ethical and professional. Anytime I had any sort of question in my mind about why something was done a certain way, they always had an answer. Even though the BCBAs have FAR more training and schooling than RBTs, I never felt like I didn't have a voice. They all cared about my thoughts and expertise, and they valued my insight. From that position, I transitioned into a Patient Coordinator role at the Barnes and Woodmen clinics. The day-to-day tasks were manageable, and I always had support from the CMs, the clinicians, and the PC managers. I felt appreciated by all the staff at both of the clinics I worked at in this role. From there, I transitioned into the ABA Intake Coordinator role and I truly love what I do. Even though what I do is very behind the scenes and not seen by many colleagues, I have never felt under-valued by my colleagues and upper management. I have all the resources I need to make me successful at my job, and when I need anything all I have to do is ask. I feel like Woven Care as a whole sees me as a valuable asset to their company, and that's what keeps me coming back every day. 

The kids, families and team are what I love here.  This is a fast paced, upbeat work environment, with excellent job training.  Ask for additional training when beginning. The workplace "professionalism" is very young, can and will feel a bit hard to fit in and do steer clear of all the gossip.  Great place to get experience if you are out of school or new to Peds.  Long term with Shandy is unrealistic and will lead to burnout. 
New CEO's are making a concerted effort to take care of the "Shandy Family" with restructuring an outgrown business model.  Raises are a recurring mantra needed for increased retention of staff, they are coming and will be interesting to see how competitive they are to other Peds clinics. Productivity model feels unsuccessful, breeds competition, and can make it near impossible to stay on top of documentation/progress reports for therapists, thus creating general stress.  Expect to volunteer 2-4 hours a week to complete your job well.  Hope is on the horizon with the CEO's, yet feel mixed to recommend anyone I know to work here.  

Typical day at this job is very different. There is never a day that is the same as the day before. Every kid is not happy every single day therefore this makes our days alittle different as well. Working here, I learned patience, time management and amazing communication skills as these are essential for success at this job. Workplace as a whole is every welcoming and supportive environment as many challenges occur at work and/or outside of work. The hardest part of this job is work life balance. Being here for over two years you’d think I would have it down pat but I still struggle and that’s ok. The most enjoyable part of this job is the kids. I love every single last one of them that I have previously worked with and currently working with. These kids are the reason I am still here! They make my day everyday even if my day was not great due to some challenging behaviors. I will always find some positive things that occurred. 

Woven Care is committed to providing all team members with the initial and on-going training that is needed to be prepared and successful on the floor. Initially, it is a lot to learn so you have to be patient and trust the process. It is very much a team environment, across the entire company. All supervisors have an open door policy that permits and encourages team members to always come to them if they need anything (even if it's just to vent). You work with all types of humans so the clinics are full of personality. In my opinion, the hardest part about the job is how mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging it can be. If you are just looking for a paycheck, this isn't it. What we do in our sessions has life-changing and life-long impacts on the client's life, which also makes it incredibly rewarding. I have been working in ABA since 2010, but it wasn't until I started working at Woven Care that I learned how to be a trauma-informed RBT. 

I enjoy working at Shandy Clinic with my in clinic colleagues, they have become my best friends and combined with my patients, it was tough to leave. However, they claim to have competitive salaries when in comparison to other outpatient clinics, they are incredibly low at a starting of 66k. Most other companies are at 73k for starting salary. They claim to pay half of your health insurance however it is the lowest plan out of plans offered and all the plans are pretty poor. You get 3 day weekends which is nice, however are expected to complete all of your documentation within a 45 minute lunch or during treatments impeding on quality of care. if you can't do that, then expect to have a 2 day weekend because you will be busy completing documentation or coming into work early/late to complete documentation impeding on your ability to care for your own family.
