What is the best part of working at the company?
Things started well here, but at the end of the day this is not a school which supports its teachers first and foremost. Was asked to take a 20% pay cut when the pandemic began “because I would be teaching on Zoom and wouldn’t have my usual travel expenses”. To be clear, Yamaha charged $90/hr and already took 50% of this for themselves. When I declined this proposition, I was immediately fired and Yamaha offered a free trial lesson to all my students (many of whom decided to stay with me, privately) with my replacement. Typical behavior from these private “conservatories” which take advantage of teachers. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The office was very supportive, until tax season rolled around the first year. The second year was the pandemic and then it became a completely untenable situation.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Polite and supportive, until it wasn’t. They were very good about being flexible to support my active performance career, which I appreciated.

o Too many products to support, difficult to be the master at any one product.
o Not enough staff to support customer base.
o Minimal Product Training, hard to understand  technical documents.
o Tough work / life balance due to poor planning.
o Sometime I felt like our department was on an island.
o  I did receive great one-on-one factory support.
o However, any support occurs the next day (time difference in Japan).
o Difficult to understand emails based on Factory English skills by an individual.
o The did try to provide free lunches , coffee or other holiday based activity.
o Online Resources were difficult to navigate and understand (sometimes).
o Necessary to travel on a moments notice (staffing issue).
o The management that did exist did not actively collaborate with employees.
o Lack of Teamwork.
o Expense reports and Corporates Cards were on 3 week payback requirements.
o Encountered many fees using corporate card due to reimbursement latency.


This rating is not for Yamaha as a whole, but rather the entertainment group in Franklin, TN. I enjoyed what I did there and had success, but the head of the company was the worst person I've ever worked for in my entire career. Perhaps the worst I've been around in a work environment, period. 

He's a "my way or the highway" boss rather than an effective leader and often yells, demeans, curses, and bullies his employees. The staff was a great group of people to work with and very talented, but there was always an element of fear, control, and intimidation lurking in the office which kept everyone from flourishing and staying positive.

He would publicly curse and call fellow employees extremely offensive and derogatory names behind their back. The same is true for Yamaha corporate employees, consultants, and clients. From what I witnessed he trusted and respected no one in the office.

It's a toxic work environment and I would dissuade anyone from working there. It's not worth it.

I had a very unique experience at Yamaha. Please remember this is Yamaha Entertainment Group in Franklin Tennessee. The team really keeps business afloat. Most of the team there was fantastic, good energy, and hard workers. However, the leadership was like something I've never experienced in my career. The head guy, called all of the shots. Everyone walked on eggshells, he would send you home for the day if you didn't laugh at his jokes. I mean he was that extreme. No one could possibly grow in an environment like that. He was so awkward, he would talk around people, as if you weren't there. This is only a problem because he was the "leader". How can you lead a team when you are technically a bully. He made everyone feel uncomfortable in their own space each and every day. And the one or two people that were close to him were "yes men." Leadership was very narcissistic, he doesn't trust anyone. If you are thinking about taking a position at Yamaha Entertainment Group, I would think twice.

A typical day at work was to come in check the line and see what was needed and get it out before production started. I learned many different aspects of the job from driving lifts to actually getting on the assembly line and helping build the product. Management was great and showed appreciation by telling you how much of a good job you did by filling in for another co-worker even though it was not your duty. My co-workers were fun and entertaining. We always had a great time at work during breaks. At the end of the day we were there for each other and helped move the day along. The hardest part of the job was having to do your job as well as co-workers job as well if he/she was not at work, but it was rewarding to know that management had confidence to come to you to get the job done in a timely and orderly fashion.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was easy work and a clean facility. There was some nice people and some with attitudes. I enjoyed that I could volunteer to work in Plant 1 whenever Plant 2 didn’t have any work or if Plant 1 needed help on our off days or the weekends when they had to work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
A lot of off days. Had no work or parts didn’t come in.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Clean environment and they also have you cleaning if they had any downtime. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was fine as long as we had work to do. Sometimes we were getting send home because of no parts and we had to call in that evening to see if we were working the next day or so.

I have worked here for almost 2 years. I started through a temp agency. I started on first shift and after a month got sent straight to night shift! Not only that but it took me 8 months to finally get hired on so I could receive benefits. I had fought many times to get back on first shift due to the fact I was going to have a child and wanted time with my family. now my baby is almost a year old and haven't been able to be much a dad due to shift differences! What's worse is I have been told 4 times I was going back to first shift and it still hasn't happened. If it wasn't for the fact the I have to support a family I would have left already.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Wasn't a bad job just quality tells you one thing is good another says it's not better blame employees for mistakes but in reality it's all on quality

Not being a butt kisser and watching others learn more for butt kissing

Typical work environment 2 sets of rules one for regular workers and one for butt kissers and family members 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Same thing every day doing my job and half of day shifts and when something goes wrong get blamed for it

A typical day in bonding and foaming (not general assembly) is very active. there are two 10 min breaks and one 30-60 in lunch break depending on how the day goes. Management is not the best (I had 3 in 2 years of working) but they are bearable for the pay. The pay is best once you're hired on and benefits and discounts are amazing. The hardest part of the job is dealing with management but the most enjoyable is pay day! In the summer it gets extremely hot and very cold in the winter without properly working heaters.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The problem with Yamaha boats is the whole office and mangers are a buddy system. They don't put qualified people in the spots they put friends in them. So it socks to work there. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Mangers have there chosen ones. They don't treat all workers the same.

It's a good company besides the drama.
