Working in Yazaki North America  can be a good option if working at warehouses is your thing, otherwise you will struggle. When i started the people that had over a year working in yazaki barely wanted to show me the ropes at times they would other times they would completly ignore me. I started taking matters into my own hands and learned all by myself, this was in the Rework area after I got moved to shipping and it was a totally different thing. The training was poor from two people that were training me, on my first day they threw at me a bunch of things and paperwork so the orders could be shipped. My supervisor told me to calm down and showed me the how to's and gave advice on who could train me properly, then the next day they paired me with two other people and they clearly had a bit more knowledge about the process of shipping. After my week and a half training i was let go by myself, i kept learning as i worked there in shipping. I learned a lot from using a scanner to pack and printing verification and loading of orders and doing the paperwork. You can learn everything and more if you have initiative and ask questions, if you just go "to collect your paycheck" expect hurdles in there because they know who wants to work and who doesn't. Those are the good things, the bad things is that there is favoritism on employees they can be absent any time they want and have clearly surpassed the absence limit but still they are working there, also gossiping is a thing that goes on too much from this person said and the other said that. It's a good place to work on your own and mind your business and never be absent and communicate with your supervisors and let them know if you are getting late to work or not showing up or having trouble while doing your tasks. Other than the poor training and long hours due to being understaffed it's not a bad place to work.

A typical day at work can be very long depending on the work load, production launch time, testing time, or international conference calls that are different from our time zone. Scheduled meetings are also part of daily routine. Traveling to Manufacturing plants, OEM, and suppliers also makes the day pass by fast.
The company encourages learning through mentoring, classes, seminars, and its unique library. I have benefited a wide range of technical, software tools, product quality, organization and management to mention some.
My immediate management (Supervisors and Managers) were always supportive, encouraging, and informative people.
Team work was one that I have most enjoyed at Yazaki. We had both an Individual and shared responsibility towards success in the departments that I worked for.
The hardest part of the job was to obtain data and other information from sources that you do not have control over.
The most enjoyable time is when projects are all done and well. Additionally, team work to learning, sharing, and solving work related challenges was one that I really appreciated.
Flexibility at work was also one that I highly commended Yazaki management for a job well thought of.

A typical day at work brought many new challenges for the administrative team since it was a very fast paced business environment working with many engineers who were performing Research and Development for many major automotive companies. I spent the last 10 years of my employment as a purchasing clerk for the Testing Department ordering new equipment, and consumables as needed for testing components and wiring devices.

The management and co-workers were amazing individuals who I have built life long relationships with.

The hardest part of my employment was a massive lay off in 2009 and which I had left the company after 20 years with a buy out.

Most enjoyable was working as a customer service employee working for inside and outside customers to help them meet their needs.

At Yazaki we start at 7.00am. We kick start with a 3 minutes yoga (stretch excercise), then morning department toolboxes to outline the daily activity.
I learned that a clean work place achieves higher expectation and targets. The system is called 5S, denoting 5 Japanese words translating to mean tidiness and cleanliness, sorting and documention. Simply means "a place for everything and everything in its place."
Workplce culture is very good. A mix of the Japanese, Australian and Samoan people working together for the success of the company.

The hardest part of the job is having overtime to meet customer requirement due to shortage of materials or car manufacturing level changes and employees have to work extra long hours.

Most enjoyable part of the job is when all our set targets are met and everybody receives bonuses for great achievements which sees Yazaki as the number one supplier of the year.

Management directive and resource allocation changed frequently.  Specific to certain departments, Sr. Mgmt. was unable to make simple decisions.  Sr. Management avoided team conflicts.  The overall company seemed wonderful and so many friendly people.  I could have easily retired as the company does encourage role changes for development and has awesome training resources.  Remember to be kind to all, even if there is a disagreement or personality conflict.  Upon any conflict take immediate actions toward peaceful resolve and remember that those that work in glass buildings should not cast stones.  Watch out for politics, bureaucracy, clicks of people, and secret associations or communities within the culture of the organization.  Good Luck.

Generally the people there are polite, but there is low accountability. Departments tend to lose money and in place of correcting the issue, people are let go. For three years there was a hiring and wage freeze while people were being let go. People were anxious because they were not sure if they were going to have a job. During this time, several executive potions were added to understaffed departments. Positions in the European offices were cut dramatically in 2018-2019 adding the work to the US offices, then cuts happened in the US in 2020. The company planned a doing a restructure in 2019, then used COVID to cut hundred of jobs with offering the same severance packages as they did the past three years. If you enjoy working 1.5 to 2 times as many hours in a work week while wondering if you will have a job.... then this is your place.

Supervisors there treat you as you as a soldiers, demanding the job be done not matter what, if you feel sick or have a personal emergency, the Supervisor tell you to finish what you are doing before you get out, nothing have to be pending for the next day

There is no co-workers camaraderie, if Supervisors and Management's see that, basically push you be out of that for them is only PRODUCTION , PRODUCTION, PRODUCTION 110 %

They ask everything from you, work, loyalty, time, etc. but treat you as a machine without feelings and without sickness or tiredness,  not as a human being, sometimes worked 10 to 14 hours a day (the first 5 extra hours were never paid) and Supervisor get very upset if you asked for a permission to leave 5 minutes early or warning you if you get 2 minutes late, telling associates you were 3 minutes late yesterday and 1 minute today you better watch out at least you want to start coming at 8 am

had the opportunity to work with this company recently, and my experience was incredibly positive. From day one, the team made me feel welcomed and supported, providing clear guidance and training to ensure I could succeed in my role. The work environment is professional yet approachable, with managers who genuinely care about employee growth and development. I appreciated the open communication channels, which made it easy to ask questions, provide feedback, and stay informed on company updates.

The tasks were challenging but rewarding, allowing me to develop new skills and improve my existing ones. Yazaki interviews automotive sales positions under false pretences and environmental conditions.  One division COMBU (Component Business Unit) designs, manufactures and sells electrical connectors and small harness assemblies directly to the Tier base (i.e. Aptiv, Continental, Sumitomo, Denso, Kasei, Lear,  and many, many others).  Yazaki was not financially stable to handle the Covid19 pandemic and decided to sever 63% of its North American employees including program management, quality, sales, engineering, transportation, logistics, finance, testing and Senior level management team members of 20+ years of loyal services.  This company will not/cannot ever be a successful player due to the current NA management culture from the president spiral downward.

I had a great deal of exposure to Chrysler and GM.  The scope of the job and responsibilities changed a great deal over the years.  I was responsible for wire harness design and routing. A more generic way to say it was that I was responsible for Electrical Distribution Systems.  I had more responsibility, but found the job to be easier, and more gratifying, when I was responsible for the design and routing of the wire harnesses.  When that responsibility was taken away, and given to the Customer, the job became more difficult.  What I enjoyed the most was that the harness touched all areas of the vehicle, so I was able to gain a surface level understanding of so many areas of the car.  What I enjoyed the least was that the Customer was often unreasonable, and hard to work with, and wanted answers to any issues immediately, which was often not feasible.
