I enjoyed sub teaching with zen - the best perk this job has to offer, is you completely build your own schedule, and nobody choses your site assignments, but you. Freedom! The tough part about that, though, is it can be difficult to feel a sense of belonging or any kind of establishment on a school's campus. It is easy to feel imposter syndrome at a new school. That being said, if you start frequenting one, that is a great way to get your foot in the door wherever seems like a good fit.

This agency is a great temp-employment option, and filled the gaps in my work nicely.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with special needs children in K-12

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Meetings, check ins, logistics, lots of hoops to jump through, no pay for admin work, gaslit, lied to by account managers, have had too much of my time wasted by zen. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Sacrificial and charitable. Give your all. Get little in return. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Each day requires passion, dedication, patience, advocacy, and self-determination

The pay is not sufficient to live on and Zen does not have enough geographically desierable positions to keep me working full-time.  The staff tries and is helpfull, but the business model has issues.  Also, my last long-term assigment I was given verbal assurances the school I was placed at woudl offer me a fall contract.  The district subsequently severed the contract.  Although well intended, Zen managemnet overpromised that which it could not deliver.  

Zen could be a great place to work; love most of the people, the mission, being able to work from home. However, upper management doesn't care about the contracted employees. They are disposable depending on needs. direct management - lovely people. but training is lacking, its mostly get thrown into the fire with support. work life balance is perfection. raises are not given once you hit max range. I would never have left if I was a permanant employee though, bc they typically always have a place for you then. bitter sweet. Loved the work even during high stress times.

Flexibility and great responsive management.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It is not Zen that causes the stress directly, but some teachers aren’t prepared for you in any way. Concerning special needs classrooms, the down time involved to figure responsibilities out can be detrimental to students.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Every single employee I’ve had the pleasure of meeting is very nice and also capable.

If you are an educator looking for more experience or to pick some extra hours this is the place for you. But if you are looking for a dependable and reliable or constant schedule changes cause you to become overwhelmed, Zen Educate is not a good choice.  Either way, you will get some extraordinary experience and meet a lot of great contacts in your field.  

I started with them two months ago. They don’t listen to what kind of jobs you want and constantly call you till you answer even if you are at work or on vacation. They still have not found me a job. I have nothing no leads nothing. It was a waste of my time with them. I do not recommend them and would advise people to stay away from this company. They do not care about their employees only the money they get from us. They don’t even listen to what you want. I told them over and over again and still nothing.

Nothing, They seem like a scam.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Going through all these steps just for them to never place you in a role, and when you call your recruiter, they make up excuses like " we need your car insurance". No, you don't. 

They seem to be fishing for peoples info.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You only get an alert when a job is available, and unless you already have the app open and are constantly tapping the accept button, you won’t get any work.

The best part of Zen Educate is that there are ways to improve your teaching, at your pace, online, no cost, built right into the Zen Educate platform. When you do a great job, someone at a work location may endorse you and you stand out among your peers. There are many of us, so it's nice to stand out. Compare this to T on Call, where there is no feedback whatsoever and you feel like you're on an island. 

It's exactly as advertised with no surprises. They offer work that applies to your profile that you can pick up as desired. The managers and support staff are quick to respond and always very friendly! The work days are largely up to the school you work at. At some schools the staff is very prepared to support substitutes, at other schools they don't have any sub plan to offer. Overall fun and fulfilling work with good support from management.
