Overall, the company first comes across as a great place truly invested in the growth and development of their employees. There is a sense of belonging and the BOI Team is composed of wonderful, caring individuals. You will have support from your team as you put in work. 

One benefit is that you have a hybrid work schedule- there is a great deal of flexibility, you're able to choose your hours, and you are able to pivot weekly when it comes to your schedule (which is necessary, as you're responsible for servicing different practices and need to work closely with them to best figure out when/where/how to help them reach program goals).

However, there is a severe lack of clarity and structure when it comes to this role- you are responsible for giving practices information about how they are performing when it comes to scheduling/meeting patients, but it's up to you to figure out how to utilize the different EMRs and software programs. You need to figure out what info to share, but you may find out that there's certain "data you should just know". There is no training provided in this area but you are held responsible for figuring out how to utilize and interpret data from these systems. The workload is very heavy; you'll easily put in a 12-hour day, as this is normal. You're told often that it's up to you to figure out how to create your schedule and prioritize tasks in order to reach your objectives, but you'll be judged on specifics that were not made clear. If you require clarity in employment, this is not the place to be.

Because the company is focused on working with private practices to make sure they are compensated correctly, the word of the practice will remain Supreme, meaning that AH is not likely to look into your actual work. Be wary - there isn't room for error if a practice makes a claim (whether accurate or not); you're going to find yourself in a "he said, she said" situation even if you have proof of your work. When considering workload & life balance, along with available training, structure, and fair representation among the leaders of the company, REALLY examine if this would be an ideal place to work. 

Classic bait and switch employer. Poor direction and guidance from management at multiple levels. Information is held secretive and SYA culture. You are not hired to lead and be innovative you are hired to execute someone else’s direction. It doesn’t matter if that direction is not purpose driven and primarily diven by preference. Throwing data at a wall is held as the golden standard. Markets are competitive for absolutely no reason. Lack of collaboration across and within markets.

If you are looking for a place to collaborate and openly share ideas this is not it. If you want to keep your head down and make whims of Leadership (market and corporate) happen then you will thrive. This is not a place I feel comfortable asking question or saying ‘I don’t know, but I’ll find out’. Market leaders live in fear and press demands down. People used as scapegoats or leverage. Austin leads in fear based management and partners are unhappy.

Don’t swim against stream or you will be reprimanded. The markets are all sort of unique but enterprise is driving and management does not stand up for itself and and let people do their jobs.

Agilon is not a tech company. It’s moving towards a restricted network health plan.

Cost saving is called opportunity and there is incentive to push patient care to the lowest costs specialties or providers. Constant battle between enterprise pushing opportunities on markets and markets not executing or taking to long to execute.

Have you ever been at an event or class and no one wants to be there? That’s what it’s like here. A bunch of miserable people pretending. The people who see it for what it is, a house of cards leave or are pushed out. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The company lack quality onboarding training, lack of employee support and very poor employee diversity.  However the pay was good but you will work long days and some nights and weekends because of the amount information pressure to input into systems.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The company constantly pressuring to collect more and more data.  Long travel by personal car to drive 2 to 6 hours to work in other markets all while expected to join meeting via Zoom meeting.  Also the lack real support from leadership making it stressful for work life balance. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company has on a arrange employees leaving within 6 months to 3 years from starting.  The culture is the poorest I’ve seen, there has been steps put in place to “improve” but for there to be progress leadership needs to be all-in.  Also help if the company stop bringing in people with poor leadership skills. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical day is up early at 5am to get the day started with Zoom meetings that involves West coast.  Prepare your 2-4 hours drive to the first of two or three different markets for growth to meet with staff and travel to provider site to deliver materials and collect information to entered in CRM.  This organization doesn’t care about work life balance.  It’s all about pushing for more and more collection of data so it’s data/information driven.  You will find your working well past 12am.

This was initially an amazing opportunity and I loved the company. I love startups. To keep it short, over time once the corporate entity began taking over direction... everything fell to the wayside. Lots of people with little to no actual strategic vision had their hands in the pot when the local leaders had the capability to do above and beyond.
Anyway... the issue is that there is no diversity at the top... none. That "silicon valley" mindset trickled into the local market through nepotism. 
If you had an opinion... you're outcast even when the alternative means poor execution and results. 
There's alot more but at the end of the day, management has no backbone to stand up for what makes the most sense, nepotism is rewarded, diversity is shunned and those who have innovative ideas or thoughts are laid off. 

The job itself was easy.  Tools and procedures are still being created or implemented.  Communication and processes are not documented or structured.  Management was not interested in improvement.  Several ideas were provided that were implemented by full time employees when given by contractors.  Lots of structural change in the company management and overdue projects that slow work down that would typically be handled in an orderly fashion at larger more organized companies.  Mentioning improvements is frowned upon.  People seem to be in fear of losing their jobs and company stability.  Some parts of the company were sold while I was on board.  It's a great place for a stop gap. Nothing new to learn but lots to teach if the team management was more receptive to feedback.

Company is executing a great mission day to day.
Growth Stage. Went Public this year 2021.
Lots of innovation and space for new ideas.
Very professional management team.
Great and diverse team.
New technology platform means lots of new opportunities for the company, partners and patients.

Cons

Nothing you will not face on any growing company but culture allows to easily find the best way.

If it was possible to give this company 0 stars I would. HR makes promises of annual raises and opportunities for advancement which is a lie. Overworked, underpaid compared to the industry standard. They make their nurses salaried so they can take advantage and work you to death, staying late every day for no compensation. Employees are not appreciated. Management is terrible and plays favorites. Anyone that stands up for what is right is targeted and retaliated against. There is no communication or problem resolution. If all of this was not enough the company is currently under investigation by the state for claims fraud. Beware of this company.

Upper Management is very communicative, however Department Management leaves something to be desired. What began as a great opportunity to thrive and learn more became a monotonous monstrosity. 

At the beginning of the COVID pandemic the company sent people to work from home and their overall response was very proactive. However, in the middle the CEO decided to sell a majority of their markets and downsize the company (all CA Markets), leaving only Mid-West Markets under their management. 

Due to the tumultuous beginning and it’s actions during the height of the COVID pandemic I do not foresee a bright future for the company.

I would give this company half a star but that’s not an option. Management over works you & constantly asking about your work productivity. No employee appreciation at all. It’s ridiculous the amount of time manager keeps tabs on you and your work when you already know what’s expected for you to do like let me do my job & leave me alone!!! We can hear other staff always water cooling about other employees. To much gossip. HR however does listen to employees. Claims dept is short staff that it’s scary. I’m currently looking for another job do to low pay & company under investigation. Thank you, Next!

Worst place to work. Managers not capable of performing their role..lack of mgt accountability. Favoritism rules  and  unequal treatment.  If you are a high performer and expect compensation for your work...look elsewhere.. this company does not even recognize people that have strong work ethics. It's the opposite, they insult and ridicule you if you know more than the managers. Utterly awful work culture.
