I came from community mental health looking for a company that is different and can offer me advancement opportunities. This company understands the value that counselors and other mental health clinicians offer our community. I feel valued as an employee and feel the compensation is way better than any other counseling job I've ever had. Management is friendly and works hard to help employees. I have broadened my counseling style by learning solution focused therapy/ brief techniques and have gained an incredible amount of knowledge from working in a doctor's office. I love learning about medications and helping people have better access to counseling. A few days per year the company gives you a day to meet and have team building which is really fun. You get bonuses for completing self-care and taking CEU's which is very nice. 

Some of the cons- you are still expected to see 7 people per day in office on average to make part of your bonus. Some people see as many as 10 patients per day depending on how busy their clinic is (40 minute appointments). There is not much flexibility in our schedules and I do not have the ability to set my own blocks. This is exhausting but we always have 1 hour lunch breaks and we work 8am-5pm. I never take notes home so these boundaries are better than what community mental health expects.

Overall, I am very glad I made the move to EvolvedMD and think you will be too. 

I’m currently a Behavioral Health Manager at evolvedMD and it has been such a wonderful experience since I started in October! My current clinical manager stumbled upon me when I wasn’t looking to leave my previous employer but I am so glad she did! I have been able to engage in work/life balance since working at evolvedMD and it has really made a positive impact in my home and social life. I have been able to “leave work” at work at the end of the day and it has truly made a difference in my stress level and my everyday attitude going in to work and leaving work which was a struggle for me at my previous job. I am currently working on getting my LCSW which has been a personal goal of mine for sometime now but has been a struggle at my last several jobs due to the demand and stress of the job(s). EvolvedMD has made it feasible for me to get clinical supervision almost on a weekly basis to work on reaching my goal of obtaining my LCSW in a timely manner. Working within the collaborative care model has been a great experience and it really is a unique model and setting to work in. I suggest every social worker, LMFT or counselor get the experience to work within this unique setting! I urge you to join our team and see for yourself just how wonderful our culture and staff are, you won’t regret it!

I am not sure how this company was before but I keep hearing how it was so much better before they became so corporate. I realize there has to be changes with growth (mostly because I am reminded every time I bring up a concern about the constant changes) but they seem to be going in the wrong direction. The lack of genuine connection is disturbing. The rate which BHMs are quitting makes me wonder how much longer they will have their doors open. 

Also important to note that this is not real therapy. It is more case management. There is a lot of paper work, most of which it redundant. Medical providers don't respect you. You are made to feel like a bother when you try to speak with them about sending patients to you, which is another requirement of the job no one mentions in the interview when they are talking about all the great opportunities for selfcare. 

If you are used to being overworked and taken advantage (community behavioral health style), this will be a breath of fresh air for you, but if you are coming in from private practice because the salary and benefits sound good, just know, you are going to work for every single cent and burn out faster than you ever thought possible.

- If you are not comfortable with social interactions, this position may not be for you as building relationships within the Primary Care Practices and within the company is as important as providing excellent services to the patients. 
- You will need to adapt to a new therapeutic model that may feel uncomfortable at first due to time constraints although it will be rewarding once you create your own flow. 


I love working at evolvedMD.  Like, seriously.  Management is transparent, encouraging and appreciative.  They ask for feedback from employees and actually listen to it.  I am empowered to make real decisions in my department without having to ask permission every time, or worrying that if I do the wrong thing, I'll be shunned.  The company is growing rapidly and there are tons of opportunities for advancement.  Mistakes are acknowledged without shaming.  I'm able to work a hybrid schedule which has, no joke, changed my life.  My stress level has plummeted and my physical fitness is much better now that I have the time and energy to work out.  Oh, and did I mention that self-care is not just encouraged, but required?  They want me to take care of me, and they really mean it.  I feel more at home here than I have at any previous company.  The pace of change is rapid, and if you're a person who needs consistency and certainty, you might have some challenges.  This is a start-up after all.  Leadership does an outstanding job communicating changes and upcoming initiatives and really makes you feel like you are helping to change the world.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Expectations to have 6-8 sessions per day and if you have cancellations you have to make outreach calls. Hard to complete documentation wiring 24 hour expectation as you were to be done at 5pm. Worked overtime to complete daily tasks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is focused on how many patients can you see per day and per month without looking at quality of care.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive 7:30 am to prep for 6-8 sessions starting at 8 am. 5-10 minutes between each session to complete note before next appointment. Lunch at noon, doing notes, outreach calls, trainings or lunch time team meetings. Day ends at 5 pm and typically out at 5:30 due to completing notes or calls left at end of day. Staffing with primary care doctors also took place when you had time.

I love that evolvedMD is a mission driven organization. So many organizations use the term "work life balance" but I had yet to experience personally with an employer. evolvedMD has created very intentional boundaries for our work time, in addition to having our quarterly bonuses influenced by how well we do our own self care. The culture is reinforced by the benefits offered and the hours we work, in addition to being modeled by leadership. 
I am so fortunate that even as a non-clinician I have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow professionally, with lots of opportunities for mentorship and collaboration. 
I'm proud of the work that my organization is doing and the significant impact we are making in the mental health space. We have incredible leadership and the most compassionate people I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

I am a current psychiatric consultant at this company. Typically, most of the day is spent meeting with behavioral health managers to discuss their patient caseload, and provide medication recommendations where appropriate. This job requires you to self-manage your time, be able to prioritize tasks, and be a self-starter. That being said, it is the most flexible and supportive job I have had in a psychiatric provider role. The most enjoyable part of the role is fostering relationships with the behavioral health managers and helping them increase their diagnostic accuracy, and treatment planning acumen. The hardest part of the job is similar to the hardest part of this role at any company: when very sick patients refuse service.

In my time at evolvedMD, I have been given the opportunity to not only learn new methods and skills to complete my career goals, but I have been given a platform to show others the skills I am bringing to the organization. The administrative team has created a training program that allows for me to learn about the company while avoiding the typical "overwhelming" orientation period. evovledMD has allowed for me to create a much needed work-life balance. They do this by creating an employee focused environment, one of the only organization that put their money behind their "self-care culture". I am proud to be part of a team that can truly make a difference in how the behind the scenes environment can allow for better supports for the community.

Do yourself a favor and run. This is primarily a sales job where you're expected to constantly bother the medical staff for referrals whenever you're not doing therapy. They preach work/life balance but if you're not seeing at least 8 clients per day they will micromanage you until you do.  Also 8am-5pm is not true, you have to get to the clinic early to prepare and then spend about an hour after shift finishing notes (so really at least 50hrs per week on salary). They like to monopolize your lunch hour with meetings too. Good luck trying to schedule and use PTO. If anything goes wrong its automatically your fault. Upper management is either complicit or oblivious to what's happening.
