Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated paramedic to join our team. The work environment at Karas Correctional Health offers a unique blend of acute emergency care, clinical work, and chronic patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency care of patients with acute injuries, illnesses, and mental health crises. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, an affable temperament, patience, empathy, and sound judgment.

Duties

Triaging detainee requests for medical services.
Assessment of patients and implementation of protocol-based care plans.
Collection of diagnostic specimens for laboratory testing.
Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for patients.
Maintaining accurate documentation of patient interactions, assessment findings, treatment protocols used, and progress notes.
Detailed collection of patient demographics, health data, and medical histories.

Requirements

Current paramedic certification through the NREMT.
Current certification in BLS/CPR and ACLS.
Competencies in paramedic level BLS & ALS care; including but not limited to intravenous access, medication administration (PO/IV/IM/SQ), orotracheal intubation, urinary catheterization, splinting, bleeding control, oxygen administration, 4-lead & 12-lead EKG interpretation, obtaining vitals, and patient assessment.
Experience in emergency patient care in pre-hospital and/or hospital settings.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, medical staff, and detention staff.
A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with continuing education and certification.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Hours

We are currently looking for paramedic that can work part-time (12-24 hrs/wk) or full time-time (36 hrs/wk).
This position would predominately work overnight shifts (18:00-06:00).
Shifts may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
