Temporary Part-time Opportunity – Travel Required

Computer Literacy Instructor (3 positions)

Location(s): Central

Remote/Onsite: Onsite

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Digital Inclusion, the Computer Literacy Instructor is responsible for providing students with direct training and assistance on beginner to advanced technology topics. The Computer Literacy Instructor is also responsible for developing and revising technology workshop curricula and administrative tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.

Programming

The Computer Literacy Instructor delivers technology workshops on Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related technology topics. Assesses customer needs; develops and revises technology workshop curricula to reflect customer needs. Supports outside presenters in specialized technology workshops by acting as teacher’s assistant. Ensures programming quality based on enrollment and retention data. Schedules technology workshops.

Customer Service

The Computer Literacy Instructor assists customers one-on-one with technology training needs during open lab hours. Staff customer service desk during walk in and open lab hours. Refers customers to appropriate tutorials, instructions, programs, and staff members to answer technology-related questions and create individualized technology training plans. Follows up with TechLab participants to track progress and make suggestions about further workshops and programs.

Administrative

Provides support to staff with data collection including attendance and completion statistics. This position monitors participants’ progress in the program, and maintains records related to participants’ attendance, performance, and progress. Using JobMap, Google Forms, and all other library and external tools, tracks individual participants through technology workshop series. Collects success stories from customers as specified by library and funding sources. Prepare reports on technology workshops and programs as instructed by Digital Inclusion staff.

Outreach

The Computer Literacy Instructor builds and maintains relationships with community leaders, community-based and social service organizations. Build relationships with external vendors that offer technology workshops. Maintain relationships with Queens Library’s partner organizations. Conduct needs assessments and resolves issues related to technology workshops and programs.

Position Information

The rate of pay for this position is $28.00 per hour.
Flexible schedule with a maximum of 17 hours per week.
Approximately 15% travel required.
This is a temporary grant-funded position through June 30, 2027.
This is a non-union position.
Part-time positions do not offer any medical or health benefits.

Education and Experience/Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma required. Some college preferred. Experience instructing technology topics preferred. Knowledge of Queens’ community resources desirable. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internet research required. Knowledge of other job-related technology such as QuickBooks or Adobe Creative Cloud desirable. Ability to learn quickly.
