Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) program is designed to support consistent, complete, precise, reliable, non-contradictory documentation integral to the accurate representation of a patient's clinical status. The Clinical Documentation Specialist works collaboratively, through concurrent interaction, with physicians, nursing staff, advance practice providers, other members of the care team, and Health Information coding staff to support the appropriate clinical severity is captured for the level of services rendered for the patients. Provides educational resources and programs for all members of the care team on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) degree or Graduate of an approved NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and CAHEA accredited Physician Assistant training program (Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the AMA)

Registered Nurse with a current New York State license or Valid Licensed Physician Assistant in New York, Current NYS license
CERTIFICATION

Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) is required within a year of hire for new associates with more than two (2) years of CDI experience, or within three (3) years for associates with no prior CDI experience

Must maintain NY State RN License
EXPERIENCE
-
Three years (3) recent clinical experience in acute hospital setting, or related experience required

Five year (5) clinical experience in an acute care setting as an Inpatient nurse or related experience preferred
