Position summary
The Senior Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for owning files from application through clear-to-close, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and an excellent borrower and LO experience. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Tempe, Arizona, supporting retail loan officers and management.
Key responsibilities
- Own a pipeline of residential mortgage loans from application through funding, managing all conditions and timelines.
- Review loan applications and AUS findings, identify missing items, and gather all supporting documentation (income, assets, credit, title, HOI, VOE, etc.).
- Order and review third-party services, including credit reports, appraisals, title, VOE/VVOE, transcripts, and fraud tools.
- Submit complete files to underwriting, satisfy conditions, and resubmit as needed while maintaining clean, well-documented files.
- Track key dates (rate locks, contract dates, contingency dates, doc expirations) and proactively communicate status to LOs, borrowers, agents, and title/escrow.
- Prepare and/or review disclosures and closing packages in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
- Ensure loans meet agency, investor, and company guidelines (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and Jumbo/Non-QM as applicable).
- Maintain detailed notes in the LOS and follow internal procedures for pipeline, compliance, and post-closing completeness.
Required qualifications
- Minimum 5 years recent, hands-on mortgage processing experience in a high-volume retail environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Conventional and government products (FHA, VA, USDA), with familiarity in Jumbo and Non-QM preferred.
- Proven ability to manage a multi-state pipeline and hit tight purchase and refinance deadlines.
- Proficiency with a modern LOS (e.g., Meridian, LendingPador similar) and common mortgage tools (AUS, income calculators, e-sign/disclosure systems).
- Excellent attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and a problem-solving mindset.
- Clear, professional communication skills with borrowers, internal teams, and external partners.
- Must be able to work full-time, in-office in Tempe, Arizona.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience supporting top-producing retail loan officers and purchase-heavy pipelines.
- Experience with Arizona purchase transactions and local title/escrow practices.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
