Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing front desk operations during the overnight shift while performing essential accounting and reporting functions. This role ensures the accuracy of daily financial transactions, balances hotel revenue, provides exceptional guest service, and maintains the safety and security of the property during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Front Desk Operations
- Greet and assist guests in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
- Complete guest check-ins and check-outs during overnight hours.
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Handle reservations, room assignments, and special requests.
- Provide information regarding hotel services, amenities, and local area attractions.
- Ensure lobby and front desk area remain clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Adhere to Marriott Brand Standard Requirements.
- Support Breakfast set up.
Night Audit & Accounting Functions
- Perform nightly audit procedures to verify all hotel financial transactions.
- Balance and reconcile daily room revenue, cash, credit card transactions, and other accounts.
- Post room and tax charges and ensure all revenues are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and distribute daily management and financial reports.
- Resolve discrepancies and report any issues to management.
- Process end-of-day procedures in the property management system (PMS).
Safety & Security
- Monitor hotel premises to ensure guest and property safety.
- Conduct routine property walks and secure entrances/exits as required.
- Respond to emergencies in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures during overnight hours.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records and logs for overnight activities.
- Prepare shift reports and communicate relevant information to morning staff and management.
- Assist with early morning departures and transportation arrangements.
- Support housekeeping and maintenance requests as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or accounting experience preferred.
- Previous hotel front desk or customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Basic accounting, math, and computer skills required.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (Marriott, Hilton, Opera, etc.) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle overnight responsibilities.
Work Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Overnight shift typically 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
