About JJ STUDIO AI
JJ STUDIO AI is an early-stage company exploring how AI, computer vision, behavioral observation, and interactive experiences can help pet owners better understand changes in their animals' everyday behavior and wellbeing.
At our current stage, our biggest question is:
What problems do dog and cat owners genuinely experience, how do they recognize behavioral changes, and where can technology meaningfully help?
We are looking for someone who can help us answer those questions directly with customers.
The Role
We are looking for a Customer / User Research Coordinator focused on dogs and cats.
You will speak with pet owners, veterinary clinics, shelters, trainers, and other pet professionals; conduct customer interviews; organize qualitative research; and help our founding team turn what we learn into better product and pilot decisions.
This is not a traditional customer support, veterinary, or purely academic research role.
The right person will combine strong interviewing skills, hands-on understanding of companion animals, curiosity, and reliable execution.
What You'll Do
- Recruit dog and cat owners for customer interviews and early product research
- Conduct thoughtful 1:1 customer and user interviews
- Speak with veterinary clinics, shelters, trainers, and pet-related organizations
- Document customer behaviors, concerns, workflows, and unmet needs
- Organize interview notes and qualitative research findings
- Separate observable animal behavior from owner interpretation
- Turn interviews into structured insights, hypotheses, and recommended next steps
- Support Closed Beta and field research activities
- Maintain participant and potential partner follow-up
- Help identify potential clinic, shelter, training, and pet-service pilot partners
- Participate in local field research across Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, and surrounding Tri-Valley areas when needed
Who We're Looking For
You may come from customer/user research, veterinary operations, shelters, animal training, pet care, research coordination, or community outreach. We care more about how you think and work than your exact job title.
You should be able to:
- Conduct open-ended, non-leading interviews with people you do not already know
- Ask strong follow-up questions and explore real experiences rather than surface-level opinions
- Demonstrate meaningful hands-on experience with dogs and/or cats
- Understand that the same animal behavior may have multiple explanations depending on context
- Separate observation, interpretation, and evidence
- Turn conversations into structured notes → patterns → hypotheses → next actions
- Work independently and stay organized with scheduling, documentation, and follow-up
- Conduct professional customer interviews and write clear research notes in English
- Participate in local Tri-Valley field research approximately 1–2 times per week when needed
- Respect the boundary between behavioral observation/wellness research and veterinary diagnosis or treatment
Nice to Have
- Veterinary assistant or RVT experience
- Shelter behavior or animal welfare experience
- Dog training or cat behavior experience
- Customer discovery, UX research, or qualitative interviewing experience
- Clinical or field research coordination
- Early-stage startup experience
- Existing relationships within Bay Area pet communities
- Proficient in leveraging generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to boost daily productivity and streamline research workflows
