What You'll Do
As a Police Officer Recruit, you will:
- Attend and successfully complete a California P.O.S.T.-certified Police Academy
- Participate in physical fitness, defensive tactics, and firearms training
- Learn criminal law, patrol procedures, report writing, and emergency response
- Complete classroom instruction, practical exercises, and scenario-based training
- Prepare for advancement to a sworn Police Officer position upon academy graduation and department approval

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 20½ years of age
- Valid California Driver's License
- Eligible to attend a California P.O.S.T.-certified Police Academy
- U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for peace officer employment under California law
- No felony convictions
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
Required Testing
Qualified applicants must provide:
- PELLETB T-Score of 42 or higher (within the last 12 months)
- National Testing Network (NTN) scores meeting department standards
Physical Agility Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete the California P.O.S.T. Physical Agility Test, which includes:
- Obstacle course
- 165-pound body drag
- Six-foot fence climb
- 500-yard run
Selection Process
